I don’t think that is Lily Rose Depp’s angle. If anything it is just further proof that my theory about her actually being her dad trolling us all in costume is a fact. It looks like there could very well be a whole other person under that head / forehead chin….I am wondering if this is not actually Lily Rose Depp but rather Angelina Jolie in her present 50 year old state wearing a blonde wig…. What I am saying is the cute, rich, young Johnny Depp ejaculation turned human…doesn’t look all that cute here but she’s grabbing tit to offset all that and I think that’s a valiant effort on her part to make one of those “not looking all that great” moments better. This Is Us just did it again. We guess we shouldn’t be surprised at this point. And yet: That’s sort of the whole point, isn’t it? On This Is Us Season 4 Episode 1 , which aired Tuesday evening on NBC, the beloved drama shifted our focus from its core characters to a bunch fo newbies… prior to wrapping up the premiere with yet another twist that brought everything together. Appropriately titled “Strangers,” the episode introduced fans to: Cassidy (Jennifer Morrison), an intense military officer whose wartime stint in Afghanistan left her detached, drinking and not very close to her husband, Ryan (Nick Wechsler), and their young son. After losing some control, along with her loved ones, Cassidy sought assistance from a veteran’s support group. From there, we saw her first meeting was interrupted by… Griffin Dunne’s Nicky , who hurled a chair through the window in a fit of drunken anger. Then there was Malik (Asante Blackk), a teenager who’s attempting to provide for a young daughter — at any cost. This new character’s parents are Darnell (Omar Epps) and Kelly (Marsha Stephanie Blake), who shower him with affection and also plenty of babysitting. Darnell made sure that Malik had a few moments of carefree bliss at a friend’s barbecue, where the latter grew instantly smitten with a new-to-Philly girl whose name is… Deja (Lyric Ross). Following along so far? Because we’re about to change time periods. In a flash-forward, viewers met a bold, quippy, struggling blind musician … who married the waitress at the diner he happened to visit by happenstance … and is now enjoying burgeoning fame, because this guy is… Jack (Blake Stadnik). Yes, present-day premature son of Kate and Toby! Both grandmother and mother had music dreams — and Jack was the one who seemed to turn similar dreams into an actual, successful reality. There’s your major Season 4 premiere twist, folks. Elsewhere, however, this opener was anchored in the past, traveling back to the early 1970s as Jack and Rebecca returned from their amazing road trip and were feeling out the possibilities of this new romance. Jack was invited to meet her parents (the incomporable Elizabeth Perkins and Tim Matheson) at a country club dinner, where our favorite underdog Vietnam veteran managed to impress everyone at the table. Ultimately, however, Rebecca’s father shook his hand … and told Jack that wasn’t good enough for his daughter. That’s a lot to take in overall, of course. Thankfully, showrunner Dan Fogelman spoke to Entertainment Weekly and broke down this shocking This Is Us premiere. Why did he introduce new characters in this fashion? Normally you would meet characters through the eyes of your main characters, which always gives you a little bit of a skewed perspective, because you’re meeting them through our characters. But that’s not how you meet strangers in real life. The first time you meet the person who becomes your husband or wife or your new boss or your business partner, they’ve had a whole life before you and the meeting with them is your first experience of them. So I wanted to give the audience that feeling of getting to know these people before you got to know them in relation to our main characters. What will the relationship between Cassidy and Kevin be like? The relationship is complicated, it’s formative, and it’s a very deep, interesting, bizarre relationship. And whether or not it’s ever romantic is for the series to delve into a little bit later on. But it’s an interesting thing when you look back — she’s going to be somebody who adjusts a part of the course of Kevin’s life. As is the entire first half of the season that he’s embarking on. How far might the show flash forward? Beyond Jack at the concert? I mean, anything’s possible. It’s not in the current plan right now… We do have plans for the future and that which we call “the deeper future” — because we call it the one where Rebecca’s in bed “the deep future” — but I think we would only being going past that linearly. Meaning a continuation of where we’ve been with Jack, but not even jumping further into the 2300s or anything like that. How will Jack’s blindness affect Kate and Toby in the present day going forward? It’s a gigantic story… Raising a child is a complicated process, and raising a blind child comes with extra challenges. Obviously, having a newborn child — with or without sight — is a challenging time for young parents. For any parents. You’re snipping at each other, you’re exhausted. [Now] there’s added stuff. This was not expected. It’s a surprise and that’s a big part of their season this year. View Slideshow: 13 TV Shows Canceled Way Too Soon
Source: NBC/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images / Getty We LOVE “Bluff City Law” And You Will Too The EMMY’s are done but many of your favorite shows are returning this week with new episodes. But there’s also a fresh crop of new shows — some of which we’ve already previewed and can put you on notice to plan to watch (or set your DVR’s) now. In August BOSSIP’s Senior Content Director Janeé Bolden traveled to Memphis to interview the cast of NBC’s new series “Bluff City Law,” which premieres TONIGHT on NBC at 10/9 c. Set in Memphis, TN, the series follows Jimmy Smits as Elijah Strait, a successful lawyer known for crusading for victims of civil and human rights violations as well as other injustices. Things get really interesting for Strait after his philanthropist wife passes away, bringing him closer to his estranged daughter Sydney, played by Caitlin McGee. Sydney has been making big bank representing corporations since leaving her father’s firm years ago, but her mother’s death brings them together and when he asks her to rejoin the firm, she agrees. The show has a feel good element, both because Straits firm is known for fighting the good fight for the downtrodden and doing their part to stick it to corporate greedmongers. In addition to Smits and McGee the ensemble cast includes “Hamilton” star Michael Luwoye, Jayne Atkinson, Stony Blyden, Barry Sloane and newcomer MaameYaa Boafo (a delightful actress who we are sure will charm TV watchers as much as she did this BOSSIP journalist). We also have to mention Josh Kelly, who plays Sydney’s ex-husband Robbie, a police officer who proves particularly helpful in the pilot episode. We sense a love triangle brewing between Robbie, Sydney and her new coworker, Jake Reilly (played by Sloane). Check out a little featurette about the family dynamic between Elijah and Sydney below: We asked Smits about the estrangement and how the show will follow their struggle to find common footing. “No matter what area you’re in, people who are very successful in whatever chosen field, they are often seen a certain way by their children,” Smits told BOSSIP. “They know the flaws. What we talked about was Sydney was probably with the firm at one time and he was very hard on her, that kind of thing , that plus what little she knew about the relationship thing with the mother, we have that rebellion thing that happens and she’s decided to go polar opposite to what the family built and the way she was brought up to be very inclusive and this area of the law that she is very cutthroat, totally different thing. In the pilot they talk about being able to use both of their strengths.” If you can’t already tell, the stories hit a very human chord, with some of the cases pulled from actual lawsuits that are currently being fought. The case Sydney fights in the premiere episode definitely mirrors the Monsantos Roundup lawsuit, but Caitlin McGee told BOSSIP that she took the series’ “Change The World” tagline to heart and made sure show writers were aware of the issues she feels most strongly about. “Yeah, I told the writers and said it in interviews before,” McGee told BOSSIP. “The things that I’m most passionate about – my cousin is trans and she hasn’t had the easiest time of it – I am the “B” in the LGBTQ community, it’s very important for me to represents every single walk of life and specifically Black Lives Matter. There’s a lot of things that I need to see that have already been addressed by our writers, either in coming episodes or in the current episodes. So not just holding big companies accountable, which is incredibly important writing about that in a negative form so that it’s not just a headline that we click on and then forget about. The first time that I saw the actual man who was behind the Monsanto case, when I saw the lesions on his face, that’s gonna stick with me for the rest of my life, that’s going to make me care about the case even more, so if our show gets to do that and represent the people that are just part of the headline, as a real human person and that sticks to someone, then that is beyond anything I care about as an actress because we’re lacking empathy in this world at the moment and I wish we had a little more of it.” McGee wasn’t the only one to bring her personal concerns into the writers room, MaameYaa Boafo told BOSSIP how show writers and producers also made her feel welcome when she came to them regarding Episode 5 of the series. “There is an episode that I had one scene in, and based on what the topic was, I asked to sit down with the producers and explain why it was important for my character to be in the courtroom when this case is happening and they added me in it,” Boafo told BOSSIP. “I don’t say much, but I’m so excited because it’s all about the action and I’m really appreciative that the writers and producers can sit down with someone like me, who is the newbie out of all of us and take what I have to say into consideration. They make me feel that at this point now that they’ve given this part to me, that I know this person, that I know Brianna better than everyone. I know they do this for all of us. It’s wonderful to feel heard and I’m only going to pull that card when I feel that it’s important for Brianna’s presence, or voice or opinion or point of view to be a part of what that case brings.” Hit the flip for more from our interview

90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? stars Nicole Nafziger and Azan Tefou have weathered wild rumors about each other and their relationship. This time, it’s a little more serious, because Nicole and Azan really will not be returning to next season of Happily Ever After? And fans are now confronting her about the rumor that she was fired from the show after laying hands on Azan. Rumors exist, especially if you’re a reality star — no matter how much or little of yourself you share with the world. Sometimes, these rumors take the form of widely circulated reports that ultimately don’t pan out and are debunked. Other times, it’s a wild claim passed around in a whisper. This is one of those times. 90 Day Fiance fans were actually claiming that Nicole and Azan are through with 90 Day Fiance … because of an incident when they finally met up. The claim is that Nicole became violent with Azan, and TLC pulled the plug on their 15 minutes of fame. Multiple people brought this up in the comments under a gorgeous selfie of Nicole’s we’re sorry to say. “Is it true that you and Azan won’t be on TLC anymore because you were physically violent with him?” one impertinent fan asked. “No,” Nicole replied, with more patience than most of us would have shown. She did clarify that part of that rumor, at least, is true — they’re off the show. “We aren’t going to be on another season,” she explains. “Because we chose not to go on again right now.” Obviously, it’s wise to not always take a reality star’s reply to this sort of question at face value. A domestic abuser is rarely going to fess up to it at all, especially on Instagram. And plenty of reality stars have announced that they’ve lost interest in stardom when really they’ve just been let go from the cast. But Nicole is dramatic enough to be asked back to the show. And we definitely believe that she wasn’t fired for abusing Azan. It’s kind of hard to get violent with your fiance when there’s a whole ocean between you. She hasn’t seen him in person in a while. Fans have worried about Nicole for years, given that she keeps clinging to a long-term relationship that appears from the outside to be in limbo. A lot of people think that it’s just thirst that keeps her waiting even as he drags his feet. (Case in point, look at the photo of Azan above; plenty of Americans would let him string them along for the chance at intimate video chats) Others think that she’s “desperate” for a man and willing to cling to the “illusion” of Azan rather than look for a husband closer to home. These rumors range from concerned to deeply unkind, but fan opinions have never swayed her. Nicole has explained that she’s not bothered by what outside perspectives assume about her relationship. Despite every setback, she remains committed to her relationship with Azan and to their eventual marriage and lives in the US. Honestly? No matter how the romance began, it seems clear that Nicole and Azan love each other. The question, however, is whether — after canceled vacations and unexplained trip delays — love is enough anymore. Should either of them be putting their lives on hold if it means pining across an ocean instead of being together? But Nicole is no more bothered by doubts than she is by wild claims about her “firing” from the show. Real talk? She’s been posting for months about how she feels kind of “over it” when it comes to reality television. She recently shared an update of her back to work at Starbucks — which means that she sounds serious about living her normal life. We just hope that she provides lots of updates about her life, her engagement, and especially cute little May! View Slideshow: Nicole Nafziger Quashes Azan Breakup Rumors: 4 Years and Going Strong!
If you’re a Counting On fan, then you’re probably aware that we’re in the midst of a full-blown Duggar baby boom . Of course, the expectant mom who’s received the least attention from the more famous branch of the family is the so-called “rebel Duggar,” cousin Amy. (Yes, at this point the “rebel” label has been applied to several members of the clan, but Amy was the OG defiant one.) In case you were unaware, Amy is pregnant with her first child , and she’s clearly overjoyed. She might not be receiving quite the same level of recognition as some of her baby bump-sporting cousins, but we’re sure that’s perfectly fine by Amy. Rumors that the 32-year-old has been cut off by the rest of the clan have been disproven (despite reports to the contrary, several Duggar daughters attended Amy’s baby shower ), and she seems to be having a lot of fun sharing pregnancy updates with her devoted fan base. Earlier this week Amy posed for the final photoshoot of her pregnancy (she’s due in October), and as you can see from the pic above, she got a little creative with the imagery. “Each week the belly gets bigger, the wait gets shorter but the love grows so much stronger for you baby boy!” Amy captioned the photo. “#milkbathphotography What a fun / relaxing photo shoot My skin was soo soft too… extra bonus!” she added. Milk bath photos are fairly common among expectant moms, and you don’t need a degree in semiotics to understand the symbolism. In most cases, the subject of the photo is nude, but Amy chose to remain fully-clothed, which is obviously her prerogative. But as with pretty much everything involving the Duggars, someone just had to complain in the comments section: “Oh God… This isn’t a real milk bath pic… You have to be naked but of course the Duggars would disown you if you did that,” one follower wrote. Never one to shy away from a conflict, Amy was quick to clap back: “I can do whatever I want, I am my own person. My last name is King last time I checked,” she wrote. “I didn’t want to be naked. I love the classiness of this shot instead! I love how @samanthat.photography styled it!” It seems to us that Amy made her stance pretty clear: She chose not to pose nude, but that’s not because of Jim Bob’s influence, or because she shares the ultra-conservative views on sex She wore clothes for the pic simply because she felt like wearing clothes for the pic. But as OK! magazine points out, one fan felt the need to further defend Amy by expanding on her comments: “Just because Amy dresses a little different than her cousin’s doesn’t mean she wants to be naked for the Internet to see. My goodness,” the commenter wrote . “Also she is a grown woman who makes her own decisions.” The Duggar defender continued from there, writing: “Everyone has there own beliefs in modesty. Even the Duggar girls dress how they want. Some wear pants and some wear dresses and skirts. “They are all adults and should live as adults. They all have love for the Lord and that’s all that matter.” We don’t know if the girls and women of the Duggar clan have quite as much freedom as this person claims, but the important thing is that Amy does — and she’s taking full advantage of it. There’s a haunting quote from Yaa Gyasi’s Homegoing that’s stuck with me since I read the book a couple of years ago. It shared the experience of Esi, a young Ghanaian woman, unknowingly being sold into America’s race-based, life-long, unimaginably cruel system of slavery. “They took them out into the light. The scent of ocean water hit her nose. The taste of salt clung to her throat. The soldiers marched them down to an open door that led to sand and water, and they all began to walk out onto it. Before Esi left, the one called Governor looked at her and smiled. It was a kind smile, pitying, but true. But for the rest of her life Esi would see a smile on a white face and remember the one the soldier gave her before taking her to his quarters, how white men smiling just meant more evil was coming with the next wave.” It speaks to the righteous and rightful distrust we have of White people and White men in particular. Their track record hasn’t been great. And throughout the course of our history on this land and around the world, even well-intentioned actions from White folk have ultimately resulted in unspeakable pain and heartache for Black women. For that reason, the conscious among us approach the actions of White people with some level of caution. I was reminded of this phenomena when my friend sent me a post that’s currently being circulated around social media. She didn’t provide any of her own commentary initially, she just asked me, “What do you think about this?” View this post on Instagram Black Women really be out here saving the world # A post shared by millennialmarried (@millennialmarried) on Sep 9, 2019 at 8:09am PDT I could see why she had an issue with this man’s explanation. Here we are centuries after slavery and White men are still using the labor of Black women to their benefit. He described Black women as being “less selfish” and “having his best interest” at heart. And then there’s the pain evoked by “y’all raised us even when we refused to let you read.” Damn. This White man didn’t tell any lies. But his truths are still hurtful. Perhaps he perceives Black women as being less selfish because historically we’ve had to take care of White masters, White children, Black men and Black children at the expense of ourselves. Instead of continuing to perpetuate that cycle, as a real ally or advocate for these women he should be looking for ways that these women can invest in themselves. The same can be said for them having his best interest at heart. At the expense of what? To their personal lives have to suffer so his business can grow? Since he understands the role Black women played during slavery, does he also understand that the we were conditioned to put the needs of White men, financial, emotional and sexual, ahead of our own for survival and not through our own free will? Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news. ( Terms and conditions ). For as much as this White man seems to understand the dynamics of slavery, he doesn’t seem to be doing enough to change them. And this is the reason why I told my friend I didn’t have a problem with this idea. While I wouldn’t argue that it’s progressive in any way, I think that this White man is doing what White men in this country and every other capitalist in this country has done for centuries, making money. I say this all the time and I continue to repeat it mostly because so many of life’s occurrences remind us of the fact that while legalized slavery has ended, we’ve taken the model into our businesses. Think about, in most businesses, the CEO or the person at the top does the least work but makes the most money. This person may have very little knowledge or ability to run the day-to-day operations of the business; yet they make decisions that directly impact the lives of their workers. And as the White man suggested employees, while offered very little or nothing at all in terms of equity, are expected to be invested in the business’ success while they are expendable. People have literally died overworking themselves for companies that will replace them within a week of their funeral—if not before. So while the White man’s sentiments aren’t progressive or kind-hearted, his business is no different than the companies many of us work for. And as we fight for representation and employment in various industries, I can’t help but believe that this White man is doing this. In the short term, these Black women are employed and hopefully being appropriately compensated. I pray that the work environment is fair and that they’re able to take the skills they’ve learned and developed there to companies, perhaps in the future, that have work models that are more favorable than what we have today. S haun King and DeRay McKesson once worked closely together but had an epic falling out that played out on Twitter years ago. Like most social media feuds, it was hard to tell who was right or wrong, but people still took sides. Since then, they have rarely mentioned each other — until now. DeRay McKesson wrote a scathing and long piece on King. See Also: Michael Moore Begs Michelle Obama To Run For President: ‘She’s The One Person Who Could Crush Trump’ In a piece for Medium , McKesson goes on and on about how he trusted King, believed in his work but then noticed dismissiveness and bad communication. He then implies King stole money from Justice Together, where McKesson was a board member at one point, and said, “To date, it is not clear that Shaun filed the appropriate taxes for Justice Together, as there is no 990 form available for public review from the IRS website.” He also slammed Shaun King’s fundraising report, claiming it was not independent. McKesson also alleged he “did not ‘raise’ millions. He took credit for other people’s work… He takes credit for 100% of all funds raised for any fundraiser whose link he has ever posted online, in an e-mail blast, or re-tweeted .” McKesson also referenced the Clarissa Brooks incident, where King demanded an apology after she reportedly said that he stole or spent money that was raised for Cyntoia Brown , which King claimed he never raised money for. McKesson cites a bunch of failed projects from King. Basically, McKesson believes King is a fraud. King has been defending his name for weeks after Rihanna announced she will honor the Morehouse man at an upcoming awards ceremony. Social media went ham and demanded that she reconsider . In response, King released a 72-page report of “ every single penny I’ve ever raised since” Black Lives Matter began. The documents were compiled and authored in part by people like Tamika Mallory , Co-Chair of The Women’s March and Co-Founder of Justice League NYC and civil rights attorney Lee Merritt . The report focused on fundraisers that King promoted through his social media accounts and provided what King said was a full accounting of his financial relationship with Real Justice PAC and Action PAC along with five years of his tax returns. In addition, King said the authors of the fundraising report had unlimited access to his and his family’s checking accounts, savings accounts, credit cards, retirement accounts and money management software. “ I’ve helped raise over $34.5 million for families, charities, causes, & campaigns,” King tweeted Tuesday morning. “A 7 person expert review board inspected every penny – including the past 5 years of my tax returns. Their 72 page report…” Since the #BlackLivesMatter Movement began, I've helped raise over $34.5 million for families, charities, causes, & campaigns. Their 72 page report… https://t.co/cmxkK8AKRE — Shaun King (@shaunking) September 3, 2019 In addition, the families of Nia Wilson , Philando Castile , Terence Crutcher and multiple other people killed in recent years vouched for King. The family of Botham Jean , the man who was killed by Dallas police officer Amber Guyger a year ago this Friday, had nothing but glowing words for King. “We have had the pleasure of interacting with Shaun King in the months following Botham’s murder,” Jean’s family wrote. “Shaun has become more than another voice for our family. He has become our friend. He has advocated for the Jean family, spoke up for us, dried our tears and held our hands. We are grateful for his support as are many other families who have met him. Tori Roloff has been forced to defend herself against allegations that she recently placed her beloved dog in danger of drowning. No, really, it’s true. We’re talking about the same Tori Roloff who comes across online and on television as perhaps the most loving and caring reality star alive. Earlier this week, Tori and husband Zach took their son, Jackson, and their dog, Murphy, on a fun outdoor outing. You can see one photo from the trip above and you can visit Tori’s Instagram Stories to see a few others, most notable of Murphy in the water. It appears as if this was the first time the Roloffs had ever taken their canine on such an adventure, considering what Tori wrote about it online. “Today we learned that Murph can swim,” she captioned one of these photos on her account. Everything seems pretty harmless and fun so far, right? Tori then added an image of her pooch enjoying the water activity, and then another slide that said: “Here’s a pic of Murphy clearly saving Zach and not the other way around.” This implication — that Murphy might need to be saved in some way — must have set the trolls off because she later added another slide defending the situation. “Before I get the hate and told how irresponsible I am with our dog … there were like three guys wading in the water (which was up to their waist) ready to grab him if his head ever went under (which it did not),” Tori added. She even included this note: “Murphy is a brute!” The Little People, Big World star later shared a snapshot of the family dog gazing off at a kayak in the water where she indicated her 29-year-old husband was hanging out. “This is how he spent the rest of the afternoon,” Tori wrote. “I guess we know who his person is.” Tori, of course, is pregnant with her second child. She has enough to worry about these days — as noted HERE — without strangers online taking issue with something so, well… stupid. We also with this was the first time Tori had to clap back at morons on social media. Alas, it wasn’t even the first time she had to do so in regard to Murphy. In June, the reality TV star fired back at those who criticized her son’s relationship with his dog after she shared a clip of the two of them playing together. Seriously, people gave Roloff grief over this sort of adorable footage. “I have gotten a lot of feedback on how we let Jackson play with Murphy and I feel like I just need to clear something up,” she started a series of slides on her Instagram Story on June 19, continuing as follows: “Please know that I am VERY aware of safety when it comes to animals. Murphy LOVES Jackson and often times engages him in play. “He is also very protective of J and I know in my bone of bones he would do nothing to hurt J on purpose. (The occasional knockdown happens but that’s life with a 120-pound uncoordinated teenager.)” “We know Murphy would never hurt Jackson. So that being said let them be best buds. Kthanksbye.” You tell ’em, Tori! View Slideshow: Tori and Zach Roloff: Secrets of the Little People, Big World Stars’ Private Lives
