Dancing With the Stars Recap: Melissa Rycroft Returns, Shines in Group Routine!

Melissa Rycroft was not about to let a little pain slow her down. The reality star, who was hospitalized with a neck injury after getting hurt in rehearsal, took the floor with the rest of her partners to perform the group’s freestyle dance. The song? “Call Me Maybe.” Obviously. “It was diagnosed as a herniated disc in my upper neck,” she told host Tom Bergeron beforehand. “I officially got cleared, so we’re gonna give it a go.” Rycroft, Shawn Johnson, Sabrina Bryan, Apolo Anton Ohno and their partners gave the crowd a stellar effort, earning a score of 29.5 points a piece. Bristol Palin did not earn one of the top scores on the season premiere of Dancing With the Stars. Carson Kressley, Sabrina Bryan or Kyle Massey: Who Should Join Dancing With the Stars All-Stars?

Carson Kressley, Sabrina Bryan and Kyle Massey are presently vying for the 13th and final spot on the Dancing With the Stars All-Stars cast . The winner, determined by fan voting on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars official site, will be announced Monday, August 27 as the last All-Star. The trio appeared on GMA this week to stump (and dance) for votes. The three contenders did some good-natured campaigning, as well as move-busting, as they vie for the spot on the show’s first-ever All-Star season. Pamela Anderson, Emmitt Smith, Kelly Monaco, Shawn Johnson, Melissa Rycroft, Kirstie Alley, Joey Fatone, Drew Lachey, Gilles Marini, Apolo Ohno, Bristol Palin and Helio Castroneves are already on board for the fall. Bristol and Kyle, of course, were rumored to be dating, and he claims Lifetime stole his idea for Bristol’s reality show … so that could be awkward. Who do you think the 13th cast member should be?

Dancing with the Stars Recap: Her Name is Nicole

Dancing with the Stars kicked off its second week Monday night by shuffling the order and injecting the Foxtrot and Jive into the mix for the 11 pairings. Like last week , Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough led the pack, and is (right now) the odds-on favorite to win this spring barring one of two scenarios: Fans become accustomed to her terrific performances as the norm and consider her so much of a lock, they just don’t vote (see Sabrina Bryan). She has a train wreck performance like Kate Gosselin’s last night. The first scenario is more likely, and you can’t count out a number of other competitors, of course. But the name to beat thus far is definitely Nicole. Here’s a tiered breakdown of last night’s Dancing with the Star s scores, along with the dance they performed and their combined two-week totals … The judges were kind to Nicole, Erin, Pam and their respective partners. Early favorites Nicole Scherzinger & Derek Hough (Jive) – 53 (25, 28). The competition Evan Lysacek & Anna Trebunskaya (Jive) – 47 (23, 24). Erin Andrews & Maksim Chmerkovskiy (Foxtrot) – 44 (21, 23). Pamela Anderson & Damien Whitewood (Foxtrot) – 43 (21, 22). Hanging around Jake Pavelka & Chelsie Hightower (Jive) – 40 (20, 20). Niecy Nash & Louis Van Amstel (Foxtrot) – 39 (18, 21). Shannen Doherty & Mark Ballas (Jive) – 38 (18, 20). Chad Ochocinco & Cheryl Burke (Foxtrot) – 34 (18, 16). Hoping for a fan bailout Kate Gosselin & Tony Dovolani (Jive) – 31 (16, 15). Buzz Aldrin & Ashly Costa (Foxtrot) – 26 (14, 12). Likely not going to get it Aiden Turner & Edyta Sliwinska (Foxtrot) – 32 (15, 19). Yeah, it doesn’t look good for Aiden Turner. Kate Gosselin can at least count on voter support despite her terribleness, and Buzz Aldrin … is Buzz Aldrin. You don’t vote the man off. Aiden lacks skills and a devoted fan base. Gone tonight.
