#LaughingWhileBlack: Napa Valley Wine Train Apologizes To Black Women’s Book Club Kicked Off Train

Napa Valley Wine Train Apologizes For Kicking Off Black Group Black women’s book club group — including one 83-year-old woman — were harshly removed from a California vineyard tour after white patrons accused them of being too loud on their train ride. The Napa Valley Train company has now publicly apologized for the incident. Via CBS : Executives of the Napa Valley Wine Train have apologized to members of a book club that were kicked off its train recently for laughing too loudly. The group said they were kicked off because of their race. The 11-member book club, composed almost entirely of African-American women, was told to leave the train Saturday mid-trip after several passengers complained about how loud the women were being. “We didn’t do anything wrong,” club member Lisa Johnson, told KTVU Monday. “We still feel this is about race. We were singled out.” News of the incident spread quickly and drew harsh criticism of the company after Lisa Johnson, a leader of the Sistas on the Reading Edge Book Club, told her story on social media. Many tweeted about the incident using the hashtag #LaughingWhileBlack Do you think the apology is enough??

NBA Stars Read Mean Tweets About Themselves

Prior to tipping off against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game One of the NBA Finals Thursday night, Steph Curry had a chance to prove that he’s an MVP off the court as well as on. By reading a mean Tweet about himself! Indeed, Jimmy Kimmel Live kicked off its first Game Night edition an hour before the Warriors took on the Cavs in Oakland last night, with Curry and a number of other NBA stars joining in the Twitter-based tradition of self-deprecation Kimmel started many years ago. “People say LeBron flops, have you ever seen this little French woman named Tony Parker,” Tony Parker read aloud, while Magic Johnson quoted someone else about himself with: “I’m convinced Magic Johnson has approximately 73 teeth in his mouth.” Check out Version One and Version Two of NBA players reading mean Tweets about themselves and then feast your eyes on Version Three above.

Tareq Salahi on Split With Michaele: I Chose the House Over Boobs!

Tareq Salahi has “gone through so many emotions” since his wife Michaele Salahi and Neal Schon ran off together, he doesn’t even know where to start. But trust us, he’ll talk you through every step as he picks up the pieces. During a press conference for Celebrity Fight Night: An Alki David FilmOn Production , in which he’ll be throwing down, Tareq spoke about why he’s getting involved in celebrity boxing and, of course, Michaele ditching him. “After Michaele abandoned our home and our marriage, the house was just empty,” he explained. “I think it’s very good for the heart and the mind.” “I’ve gone through so many emotions from sadness and crying, ust trying to understand what went wrong with the marriage and her double life.” Asked whether money played a role in their split, Tareq said : “Yes, I think that played a part in it because here is the thing. We all have – in marriages, in relationships – we all have to have conversations about money and paying bills. So let’s say you have a pot of money sitting there.” “Well, Michaele would say, ‘I want to go to plastic surgery on my lips, face and boobs,’ versus, ‘Well we got to pay the mortgage!’ I chose the house.” “If she is going to say I am controlling, I will own up to that because if she is going to turn around and say I am being controlling over money, then yeah, let’s keep the house over boobs. You know what I am saying? Am I right? It is what it is.” Tareq says he’s still trying to figure out what went wrong. “I just don’t understand how anyone can run away from a home and turn their back on what I considered a beautiful marriage. She wasn’t just my lover. She was my best friend. So, who does that and who flaunts it? It’s disgusting.” “Who does that? Nobody does that. It’s a disgraceful, disgusting thing that they’ve done … The rocker guy sent a picture of his penis. Well, that’s why I’m fighting.” “I’m fighting for anybody that’s been cheated on.” Amen, brother.

Elton John Reveals What He Would Have Changed About ‘American Idol’

‘Let’s have bands, let’s have songwriters, let’s change the format a little,’ he tells MTV News of what he would have shaken up as a judge. By Kara Warner Elton John Photo: MTV News Now that “American Idol” has kicked off its 10th season with a bright, shiny new group of judges, it’s almost hard to remember that chaotic time over the summer when the fate of the panel was in limbo — back when Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake and Elton John were all rumored to be in consideration. When MTV News caught up with Sir Elton recently as he promoted the upcoming animated film “Gnomeo & Juliet,” for which John composed original songs, we asked if he’ll be making any appearances on “Idol” this season. “I don’t know if you’ll see me on this season,” he said. “But you won’t see me judging, obviously! But I don’t know if I’m going to be on it. They’ve always been very, very generous to the AIDS Foundation,” John said of the “Idol Gives Back” charity show. “I’m very, very grateful. They’ve been helpful to us. I don’t know if I’m going to be on or not. I can’t answer that question.” With regard to fellow Brit and former “Idol” judge Simon Cowell’s “X Factor,” however, John brightened a bit when we asked what he thinks of it and how well it will do in the U.S. ” ‘X Factor’ is going to be a huge show,” John said. “It’s going to be huge, because you can have bands on there, and that’s one thing I wanted to change, if I had been on ‘American Idol,’ ” he revealed. “Get away from the solo stuff. Let’s have bands, let’s have writers, let’s have songwriters, let’s change the format a little, and that’s why ‘X Factor’ is going to do so well, because it’s a different lineup. You can have bands and groups. That’s more interesting I think.” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions. American Idol Premiere Reaction: Props to Steven Tyler, Kenzie Palmer!

American Idol kicked off its 10th season in unusual fashion: it ran down the months-long speculation of who would be named the show’s new judges, only to then plaster the screen with the words: But it’s not our story. It’s yours! It then spent a few more minutes telling its own story, hyping Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez as industry legends and introducing viewers to Jimmy Iovine, the chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M, and new show mentor. After a commercial break, viewers were finally treated to a few auditions. Our favorite of the night belonged to 15-year old Kenzie Palmer: Kenzie Palmer Audition The other star of the night was Tyler himself. The Aerosmith singer brought energy to each audition, occasionally jumping in to sing (well, scream/howl) with contestants and delivering such unique evaluations as: “Let her in the door, put water on the flower, ’cause I think it’s gonna grow.” He wasn’t sappy like Paula or mean like Simon. Tyler was simply unique and entertaining. What stood out for you on the first night of American Idol?

Actual Talent Sneaks onto America’s Got Talent Premiere

America’s Got Talent , which kicked off its fifth season last night, is usually associated with the Cirque du Freak school of showmanship, the kind of magic, mayhem and fire-hocking you might see in traveling carnival or an embarrassing Pink video. Maybe the addition of Howie Mandel to the judges’ panel has added a new layer of, ahem, cleanliness to ATG , because an actual talent launched off our screens like a feisty farmhand leaping off a hay loft. Thirty-year-old Michael Grimm is a guitar-clasping folkie with a Hurricane Katrina back-story and a tip can full of earnestness. But even better, he’s a superior singer to Lee DeWyze and he resembles a post- Knight’s Tale Heath Ledger. Read: Chilling perfection.

Dancing with the Stars Recap: Her Name is Nicole

Dancing with the Stars kicked off its second week Monday night by shuffling the order and injecting the Foxtrot and Jive into the mix for the 11 pairings. Like last week , Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough led the pack, and is (right now) the odds-on favorite to win this spring barring one of two scenarios: Fans become accustomed to her terrific performances as the norm and consider her so much of a lock, they just don’t vote (see Sabrina Bryan). She has a train wreck performance like Kate Gosselin’s last night. The first scenario is more likely, and you can’t count out a number of other competitors, of course. But the name to beat thus far is definitely Nicole. Here’s a tiered breakdown of last night’s Dancing with the Star s scores, along with the dance they performed and their combined two-week totals … The judges were kind to Nicole, Erin, Pam and their respective partners. Early favorites Nicole Scherzinger & Derek Hough (Jive) – 53 (25, 28). The competition Evan Lysacek & Anna Trebunskaya (Jive) – 47 (23, 24). Erin Andrews & Maksim Chmerkovskiy (Foxtrot) – 44 (21, 23). Pamela Anderson & Damien Whitewood (Foxtrot) – 43 (21, 22). Hanging around Jake Pavelka & Chelsie Hightower (Jive) – 40 (20, 20). Niecy Nash & Louis Van Amstel (Foxtrot) – 39 (18, 21). Shannen Doherty & Mark Ballas (Jive) – 38 (18, 20). Chad Ochocinco & Cheryl Burke (Foxtrot) – 34 (18, 16). Hoping for a fan bailout Kate Gosselin & Tony Dovolani (Jive) – 31 (16, 15). Buzz Aldrin & Ashly Costa (Foxtrot) – 26 (14, 12). Likely not going to get it Aiden Turner & Edyta Sliwinska (Foxtrot) – 32 (15, 19). Yeah, it doesn’t look good for Aiden Turner. Kate Gosselin can at least count on voter support despite her terribleness, and Buzz Aldrin … is Buzz Aldrin. You don’t vote the man off. Aiden lacks skills and a devoted fan base. Gone tonight.
