Jeb Bush On Trump’s Taco Tweet: ‘It’s Like Eating A Watermelon And Saying I Love African-Americans’

Jeb Bush Compares Donald Trump’s Ignorant Taco Tweet To Black People Looks like even members of Donald Trump’s own party are just as fed up with the bigot businessman as the rest of America according to CNN reports: Jeb Bush told a Dutch news outlet that Donald Trump’s Cinco de Mayo taco bowl tweet was “insensitive” and compared it to “eating a watermelon and saying, ‘I love African-Americans.’” The former presidential candidate previously announced he won’t vote Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, or likely Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, this November. “What Trump did was so insensitive,” Bush told NRC Handelsblad ahead of a speech he’s set to give at the Nexus Institute in Amsterdam later this week, according to an English translation. “First, not all Hispanics are Mexican. Secondly, not all Hispanics eat tacos. Thirdly, showing your sensitivity by eating an American dish is the most insensitive thing you can do. Fourthly, to say this, next to all things he already said, is a further insult,” he said. “It’s like eating a watermelon and saying, ‘I love African-Americans.’” In case you missed the tacky taco tweet: Happy #CincoDeMayo ! Race Matters: 16-Year-Old Girl Suspended From School For Wearing Natural Hair Sparks #SupportThePuff Movement

Girl Suspended From School For Wearing Natural Hair Tayjha Deleveaux is a popular student at the CR Walker Senior High School in the Bahamas. Earlier this month, she was sent to the principal’s office and later suspended for rocking her natural hair . According to BBC reports: For this, she was allegedly threatened with suspension by her school principal, T. Nicola Mckay. Local media reports say her appearance was deemed “untidy,” her hair seen as “unruly” and against school rules. In one report, the principal said she was trying to clamp down on students wearing their hair in a way that “looks like it would not have been combed for days.” This upset Tayjha Deleveaux’ mother, who posted her daughter’s picture to Facebook with a message in defence of her hair, saying she was “standing up” against “foolishness”. The debate hit a chord with many people on social media, who posted pictures of their own hairstyles using the hashtags #supportthepuff and #isupportthepuff. The country’s ministry of education has now responded in a Facebook post. “We are fully cognisant of the sensitivity of this matter and are confident that after review with the school administrator, the school board and the individuals involved, the matter will be amicably resolved,” the ministry wrote. But others took to Facebook in support of the school’s actions. “The principal never said she had a problem with natural hair… all she wants is for them to keep it neat together and groomed,” wrote one user. Is there a war being waged on Black women’s hair?

Couric: Mosque Opponents ‘Tear Down Towers’ Of American Values

“There is a debate to be had about the sensitivity of building this center so close to Ground Zero. But we can not let fear and rage tear down the towers of our core American values. ” — Katie Couric’s Notebook , 8-23-10 [emphasis added] Hey Norah: Katie’s stealin’ yer lines! As I noted here , last week Norah O’Donnell accused mosque opponents of acting “like the people who attacked America and killed 3,000 people.” In her “Notebook” of yesterday, Katie Couric sounded the same theme.  Couric employed WTC imagery to claim that “fear and rage” [translation: animated mosque opponents] were threatening “to tear down the towers” of our core American values. Subtle, Katie; very subtle.  Oppose the mosque?  You’re really no better than Mohammed Atta.  Good to know how you feel about so many of your fellow Americans.

David Paterson Has Not Resigned Today

New York Gov. David Paterson consulted with “key Democratic leaders” over the weekend to discuss either a) his imminent resignation pending a New York Times report that he is a corrupt snuggling swinger or b) just talk about stuff. Paterson has been battling maddeningly vague rumors that the Times is on the verge of publishing a career-ending story detailing either previously undisclosed marital infidelities or some sort of official corruption that will cause him to immediately resign. Today the Associated Press reports that Paterson spent the weekend in meetings and on phone calls with Democratic leaders , apparently prepping them for the fallout: A Democrat close to the situation, though, said the meetings included discussions about whether Paterson would resign or announce he will not run because of the unsubstantiated claims in the whisper campaign surrounding the governor’s behavior. The Democrat spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue. Paterson’s spokeswoman told the AP that the calls were routine fundraising and strategy sessions. She also told Gawker yesterday that the mythical Times story does in fact exist, and that it’s a perfectly normal boring profile for Metro. In the exceedingly likely event that Paterson’s spokeswoman is lying while desperately trying to forestall the inevitable, several possible scenarios have emerged: There’s the swinging thing, which is buttressed by recent stories in the New York Post about a state trooper on the governor’s security detail discovering Paterson “snuggling together” with an unidentified woman in a closet and Paterson being spotted “neck-kissing” a young lady in a New Jersey restaurant. There’s also a rather run-of-the-mill corruption angle: Paterson recently delivered a contract to run a casino at the Aqueduct racetrack in Queens to a company that Queens politico Rev. Floyd Flake partly owns, after which Flake met with Paterson to discuss a possible endorsement for Paterson’s re-election bid . The Post ‘s Fred Dicker writes today that many of Paterson’s aides consider the Aqueduct deal “corrupt” and are threatening to quit over it , and that Paterson’s “poor work habits and late-night, booze-fueled ‘disappearances’ at trendy nightclubs and undisclosed locations” have wrecked his staff’s confidence. Meanwhile, GOP gubernatorial candidate Rick Lazio can’t stand the suspense anymore, and has issued a statement calling for the Times to—as the Albany Times-Union puts it— “print or get off the pot” : “The rumors about the Governor are a sad reflection of Albany politics,” Lazio said. “No public official deserves to be the subject of over a week of innuendo and nasty speculation. If the New York Times is working on or has a story then they should confirm or print it. If they do not, then they have an obligation to stop this rumor mongering right now. Common decency demands it.” UPDATE: Politico’s Ben Smith reports that the Times is set to interview Paterson tomorrow .

In True Psycho Fashion, Phillip Garrido Had Blog, Heard God

Oh, look! Phillip Garrido , the maniac who kidnapped Jaycee Dugard 18 year ago and then impregnated her, has a blog! And it’s scary! Not satisfied with being a kidnapping rapist, Garrido shot for the stars and took it upon himself to be a religious fanatic who believes “the Creator has given me the ability to speak in the tongue of angels in order to provide a wake-up call that will in time include the salvation of the entire world.” Or that’s what he writes on Voices Revealed , a blog associated with God’s Desire, a “church” Garrido registered in June of 2008 .
