Les Moonves Responds to Sexual Harassment Charges, Admits to Making "Women Feel Uncomfortable"

Les Moonves has responded to charges of sexual harassment and misconduct outlined by Ronan Farrow in an explosive New Yorker article relased on Friday. In the damning expose, Farrow cites six women, all of whom allege that the CBS CEO made unwanted advances toward them in the form of kissing or touching. If they refused said advances, the women were punished. Each also said she was afraid to speak out back when the incidents happened, out of fear over how Moonves could ruin their careers. This same piece delves deeply into CBS itself, with Farrow writing that it maintains a testosterone-fueled culture where “everything feels old, the people, the furniture, the culture, the mores.” (Moonves has served as the chairman of CBS for about two and a half years; the network has been the most-watched network on television in 15 of the last 16 seasons.) One of the accusers is actress Illeana Douglas, perhaps best known for her role on Six Feet Under. She claims to have been fired from a 1997 pilot after refusing Moonves’ advances, which included “violent kissing” and holding her down on his office couch. “The physicality of it was horrendous,” she alleges of Moonves, who was the CBS Entertainment President at the time. Douglas says she was promptly let from the unanmed sitcom and denied payment, although she was later offered compensation and the opportunity to appear in a CBS miniseries after she retained an attorney. In response to the scathing allegations against him, Moonves has said the following: Throughout my time at CBS, we have promoted a culture of respect and opportunity for all employees, and have consistently found success elevating women to top executive positions across our Company. I recognize that there were times decades ago when I may have made some women uncomfortable by making advances. Those were mistakes, and I regret them immensely. But I always understood and respected – and abided by the principle – that ‘no’ means ‘no,’ and I have never misused my position to harm or hinder anyone’s career. This is a time when we all are appropriately focused on how we help improve our society, and we at CBS are committed to being part of the solution. Even before various details from the article were made public on Friday, CBS vows to investigate Moonves and this entire situation. It said in a lengthy statement of its own: CBS is very mindful of all workplace issues and takes each report of misconduct very seriously. We do not believe, however, that the picture of our Company created in The New Yorker represents a larger organization that does its best to treat its tens of thousands of employees with dignity and respect. We are seeing vigorous discourse in our country about equality, inclusion and safety in the workplace, and CBS is committed to being part of the solution to those important issues. Moonves is one of the most powerful men in Hollywood. He earned close to $70 million last year and is married to CBS on-air personality Julie Chen. The Big Brother host said the following in the wake of these accusations against her husband: I have known my husband, Leslie Moonves, since the late ’90s, and I have been married to him for almost 14 years. Leslie is a good man and a loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader. He has always been a kind, decent and moral human being. I fully support my husband and stand behind him and his statement. That’s all well and good and parts of it may be true. But it’s very safe to assume at least one thing in all of this: There’s no way Les Moonves remains CEO of CBS for very much longer. View Slideshow: Hollywood Sex Scandal: Who’s Been Caught? Accused? SMH: Harvard University Professor Quits Following Sexual Harassment Claims From 18 Women

Harvard University campus in Boston Massachusetts USA Harvard Professor Leaves Amid 18 Sexual Harassment Allegations A  Harvard University Political Science professor by the name of Jorge I. Domínguez has left his job following 18 different women coming forward to claim they had been sexually harassed by him. In a report published by the  Chronicle of Higher Education ,   several colleagues of Domínguez came forward in order to tell stories of unwanted advances and other inappropriate behavior. The alleged incidents date decades back all the way to the ’80s. Terry Karl, a junior professor during her time at Harvard, explained that he would often touch her inappropriately. After filing a complaint against Domínguez, who was slated to be the next department chair, Harvard determined he was responsible for misconduct and as a result, he “was removed from administrative responsibilities for three years and told that any future misconduct could trigger his dismissal.” After Karl left the university, several other women–including both faculty and students–filed sexual harassment complaints against Dominguez to the university, many of which were dismissed or held up indefinitely. Other women who spoke to the  Chronicle  said they stayed silent on their experiences out of fear of retaliation, which included some leaving the university entirely. Karl insists that she did everything she could to sound the alarm while she was at Harvard and emphasizes, “the silence was not mine. It was Harvard’s.” Very soon after the  Chronicle  report was published approximately a week ago, Harvard put Domínguez on administrative leave pending review. But then, in an email to colleagues, the disgraced professor announced that he would be leaving Harvard once and for all. He wrote, “I am retiring from my job at Harvard at the end of this semester. It has been a privilege to serve the university.” Jorge I. Domínguez refused to comment directly on Karl’s claims, according to the  Chronicle .

Taraji P. Henson DESTROYS Ryan Seacrest on Red Carpet

There were not many surprises at the 90th annual Academy Awards on Sunday night . As expected, The Shape of Water won Best Picture and Frances McDormand won Best Actress, for example. But the real action took place ahead of the annual show, as E! decided to let Ryan Seacrest interview celebrities on the red carpet… … despite some sexual harassment allegations having been leveled against the omnipresent host. (A former stylist claims Seacrest made inappropriate remarks at her and took inappropriate actions with her, such as pushing her head toward his crotch at one point.) Seacrest did not land nearly as many pre-Oscars interviews as normal, with many stars shunning him on the red carpet out of respect for the #MeToo movement. But Taraji P. Henson did choose to speak to Seacrest. And she also chose to destroy him on live television. After being asked a question by Seacrest, Henson smirked at the possibly shady man in front of her and replied: “The universe has a way of taking care of taking care of good people,” she said, as she touched the E! host on the chin. “You know what I mean?” Seacrest said that he agreed, while social media unanimously agreed that Henson had just completely torched Seacrest on his very own show. A few users pointed to Henson giving Seacrest a hug after the interview as proof that they are no hard feelings. And Henson later told People Magazine, amidst chatter that she dissed Seacrest during their chat, specifically with the way she touched his face: “I did it to keep his chin up. It’s an awkward position to be in. He’s been cleared but anyone can say anything.” Later, Seacrest addressed the situation on Twitter, writing that he had “nothing but love for his friend” and thanking her for “hanging out with us on the E! Red Carpet.” Are you buying this, though? Just watch this exchange!

The Four Recap: And the Winner Is…

It was the end of the line for three of the competitors on The Four during Thursday night’s freshman finale.  Host Fergie and panelists Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Khaled and Meghan Trainor were all part of the show’s finale, but Charlie Walk was nowhere in sight in the midst of sexual harassment allegations.  Evvie McKinney, Zhavia, Candice Boyd and Vincint Cannady were the final four vying for a record contract and the title of iHeartRadio’s On the Verge artists.  Simply put, it is one of the better prizes in the world of singing competitions, and one that should give the lucky victor some staying power.  The first round of the finale found each of The Four performing and the audience voting for their favorite. That then allowed the winner of the round to choose who they went up against.  Boyd – “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt Boyd has gone from strength to strength throughout her time in the competition. Her performance was her best one yet.  McKinney – “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner McKinney turned in a phenomenal performance that got everyone talking. The judges, the audience, and even Fergie seemed in awe of her talent.  “That performance was fearless,” Combs said while Trainor added, “That was my favorite performance on this stage throughout the entire season.” Cannady – “Creep” by Radiohead Cannady took a considerable risk performing this number, but he delivered in winning fashion. Everything about it was polished, and it proved the talent on this show is better than the others.  Zhavia – “One Dance” by Drake This was one was quite a shocker. Zhavia has proven time and time again that she’s a force to be reckoned with. However, this was performance was a dud.  Nothing about it had star quality, and the judges seemed to agree.  McKinney was crowned the winner of the first round, and she asked to compere against Zhavia. It made sense because Zhavia was having a terrible night.  Zhavia – “Man Down” by Rihanna Zhavia attempted to right the wrongs of her previous performance with a Rihanna number. It was better than her Drake cover, but still, something seemed off.  McKinney – “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers McKinney continued to dominate the competition with this latest performance. Zhavia should be very worried.  The judges got to pick who they wanted to advance, and they went with McKinney. There would have been a riot if they voted the other way! The next head to head found Cannady being left out in the cold and sent home.  That meant the final two were McKinney and Boyd. The panelists decided to give McKinney the win, and it was well deserved.  What did you think of all the action?
