Lindsay Lohan’s day of reckoning has arrived, and it’s not looking good as far as her attempts to evade jail for skipping mandatory alcohol education classes. She has now made good on the classes, but that wasn’t true in May, when she bailed on her last hearing and ended up free on bail wearing a SCRAM device. Whether she remains free rests with Judge Marsha Revel. Court proceedings began with a victory for the troubled star. Revel ruled out the matter of the SCRAM device going off after the MTV Movie Awards June 7. The hearing is now exclusively about whether Lindsay Lohan violated probation by not attending enough alcohol ed classes at the time of the last hearing.

It looks like Lindsay Lohan is in the clear with the L.A. County Probation Department … because her urine was also clear. Of alcohol or other substances. Lohan didn’t have alcohol in her system when her SCRAM ankle bracelet went off earlier in June at an MTV Awards afterparty, according to her attorney. Shawn Chapman Holley says a urine test taken after the alert showed a negative result for alcohol, and that Lindsay doesn’t know what triggered it. An L.A. district attorney spokeswoman wasn’t aware of the negative test result, which they previously said was considered “an alcohol-related violation.” However, in all likelihood, legitimate test results will be good enough for them and the Probation Department will not pursue the matter beyond that. Lindsay Lohan tends to important business and cruises around with her new, male assistant. We give this guy 10 days. [Photo: PacificCoastNewsOnline.com] It’s unclear what could have triggered the ankle monitor if she was in fact clean, and we haven’t yet heard any of the legendary Lindsay Lohan excuses . But false positives do happen, and Lindsay is in compliance with her probation, as far as department officials are concerned … at least until the next party. Lohan remains free on $200,000 bail , and is subject to weekly random drug testing. She must abstain from alcohol altogether between now and July 6. That’s when she faces probation violation hearing and could get up to six months in jail if a judge determines she hasn’t fully complied with the terms. She did not comply with court-mandated alcohol ed courses before, but given the month she bought herself, may complete them in time. Stay tuned.

As The Associated Press reports, Shawn Chapman Holley issued a statement Tuesday saying the SCRAM bracelet indicated the presence of “a small amount of alcohol” on Sunday night. The troubled actress avoided jail time Tuesday after posting $200,000 bail for violating a court order banning her from consuming alcohol. While the fact that the device was set off may appear problematic, Lohan’s lawyer declined to confirm whether alcohol was indeed present in the actress’ system: “Having just received the report, I am not in a position to speak to its accuracy or validity, however Ms. Lohan maintains that she has been in complete compliance with all of the terms of her probation and her bail.” The SCRAM bracelet detects alcohol consumption through the measurement of the wearer’s perspiration. The device then sends information about the blood alcohol content to Alcohol Monitoring Systems, which manufactures the bracelet. As the bracelet not only detects alcohol from ingesting beverages, wearers are told to avoid consuming products that may also contain alcohol, such as mouthwash, cologne and perfumes. Lohan is familiar with the SCRAM bracelet, as the actress volunteered to wear the device following her 2007 DUI arrest. Lindsay’s estranged father, Michael, also weighed on in the actress’ situation. CNN reports that the elder Lohan said in a written statement that his daughter’s violation demonstrates that Lindsay needs help. “It’s FINALLY clear and obvious that Lindsay has a severe addiction problem,” Michael Lohan asserted in a statement to CNN. “How many mountains do I have to shout from? How much longer do I have to get slammed for trying to bring attention to this horrible situation, to get my daughter the help she needs, because I love and care about her.” The actress took to Twitter to deny that she had violated her probation. “My scram wasn’t set off,” Lohan tweeted. “It’s physically impossible considering I’ve [done] nothing for it to go off-All of these false [reports] are absolutely wrong.” Lohan is due back in court July 6.
