This just in from Disney HQ: After bashing records across the globe, The Avengers will go from puny Earthbound box office domination to the final frontier, screening for six lucky multinational cosmonauts currently in orbit: “Marvel Studios announced today that they arranged with NASA to transfer their record-breaking blockbuster film Marvel’s The Avengers to NASA’s Mission Control in Houston, which will uplink the film to the International Space Station (ISS), currently orbiting 220 miles above Earth. The film will then be screened for the space station crew’s exclusive enjoyment.” (Take that, Pentagon !) Keep an eye out for Loki up there fellas, eh? [Press release]

By Jim Efstathiou Jr. May 19 (Bloomberg) — The Obama administration replaced the Minerals Management Service, faulted for lax regulation of offshore drilling before the BP Plc spill last month, with three offices to oversee leases, drilling safety and fee collection. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar signed an order today creating the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement and the Office of Natural Resources Revenue. President Barack Obama said on May 15 that he would end the “cozy relationship” between companies that drill for oil and gas and the Minerals Management Service, part of the Interior Department. About 6 Millions miles of travel the Space Shuttle Discovery returned to Earth in 15 days mission. After making a rare flyover of America’s continent, the Space Shuttle and the seven (7) crew landed smoothly and safely this morning at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The set down which is already a day late due to rain and fog that dispersed as the sun got up. “It was a great mission,” said by Shuttle commander Alan Poindexter. All crews were dropped off tons of supplies and equipment at the International Space Station and returned with a couple of tons of trash and discarded space station equipment.
