“I still love my husband, and I’ll always love him” said Phaedra Parks in a new interview where she admits to backpedalling on her plans to divorce Apollo Nida.
Gabrielle Union Says She’s Been Asked If Her Clothes Were To Blame For Her Rape Let’s take a moment and applaud Gabrielle Union for being a stand up woman who uses her celebrity to speak to the masses about injustice on multiple levels. The actress took to Twitter this week to blast the victim blaming that has gone on as countless individuals have sought to justify the police killing of 12-year-old Tamir Rice Thinking about all the kids who are “big for their age” & all of the evil excuses that will be used to defend their murders #TamirRice — Gabrielle Union (@itsgabrielleu) December 30, 2015 In the process she opened up about the victim blaming she has experienced as a rape survivor As a victim/survivor of violence I can tell u tht it can easily happen 2 any1. I was at work when I was raped. Ppl still asked what i had on — Gabrielle Union (@itsgabrielleu) December 30, 2015 Extremely brave of her to be open about her experience If u look in the mirror, are u a “perfect victim”??? I bet they could find something in ur life to make u villain to explain away ur pain — Gabrielle Union (@itsgabrielleu) December 30, 2015 Also extremely brave that she is taking an open stance on issues like Tamir Rice and police shootings. Not everyone in entertainment is willing to be outspoken on social issues. Hit the flip to see how she schooled some folks on why police were wrong to shoot Tamir Rice WENN
Even though a grand jury opted not to indict the shooting officer, Tamir Rice was still a 12-year-old boy who lost his life at the hands of the person hired to protect and serve. There’s no way around that fact. Continue
Twitter Activists Start #NoJusticeNoLebron Hashtag To Goad LeBron James Into Sitting Out Games In the wake of the decision NOT to charge the officers responsible for Tamir Rice’s death, many have asked the celebrity “leaders” of the black community to stand up and take action against the heartbreaking injustice. In particular, Ohio son LeBron James has been charged with the duty of refusing to play another NBA game until the Department of Justice agrees to take the case and hopefully reverse the decision. It's more than a game and you know it. @KingJames #NoJusticeNoLebron for #TamirRice pic.twitter.com/usob6WvQJu — TariqTouré (@TariqToure) December 29, 2015 Twitter is teeming with folks who are strongly urging “The King” to forego his game checks in the name of Tamir Rice. Can't be the King if you can't represent the People. #NoJusticeNoLeBron https://t.co/x9B7dwkB56 — Action.Brotha.Jedi. (@BmoreDoc) December 29, 2015 There are also those who either don’t believe LeBron can make a difference or don’t think it’s fair to put that kind of weight on LBJ’s broad shoulders. What do you think? You do you think Lebron can affect change by sitting out? Is it ridiculous to think that the feds will bend to a basketball player’s will? Flip the page to see more responses.

CNN Disrespects Freddie Gray CNN has been really disappointing in a lot of the ways they’ve covered police brutality in this country and today is no different. In an article about the trial of the officers accused of murdering Freddie Gray, writers Ann O’Neill and Aaron Cooper used these words to describe the victim: The April 19 death of Freddie Gray, the son of an illiterate heroin addict, made him a symbol of the black community’s distrust of police. His name is now invoked with those of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri; Tamir Rice in Cleveland, Ohio; Eric Garner in New York; and other black men who died during encounters with white police officers. In Gray’s case, three of the officers charged are white; three black. “The son of an illiterate heroin addict” The. Son. Of. An. Illiterate. Heroin. Addict. Like, that’s how they chose to introduce him. Not Freddie Gray “innocent victim” or anything like that. Nope. “Son of an illiterate heroin addict.” How does this have any relevance to the case? What in the hell is the point? It’s another way to vilify and demean the life of a Black person in this country. It’s absurd that this was written and approved by an editor. Shame on you, CNN. Way to put the person who was killed on trial. This is racist victim-blaming at its worst. And, as always, we’re not the only people to notice the racism.
