Malia Obama: Mocking Pot Controversy in Latest Photos?!

Last month, photos and video surfaced online that appeared to show Malia Obama smoking pot  at the Lollapalooza music festival. Malia Obama Pot Smoking Video For reasons that remain unclear, the idea of an 18-year-old recent high school grad getting stoned sparked (no pun intended) some intense debates on social media. Some claimed Malia was smoking a cigarette , not a joint. Others pointed out that as far as her health is concerned, the revelation that she’s hooked on Marbs like her father used to be would be far more troubling than the idea of her puffing the occasional doobie. (We like to throw around slang sometimes to prove how “down” we are with the kids. Do kids still say “down”?) Anyway, there are lots of people out there who are super pissed off about Malia enjoying her gap year between high school and Harvard, but they’re not exactly sure why they’re so outraged. Some have even tried to turn this into “a thing” by throwing it back to the days when her father was a smoker, claiming that the Obamas are part of some “making smoking cool again” conspiracy. Obviously, that’s idiotic, but new photos of Malia have some scratching their heads as to whether the 18-year-old is sending a sincere message, or taking a sarcastic jab at her haters. The pics show Malia wearing what appears to be a homemade shirt that reads, “Smoking kills.” It’s unclear if this was meant as a joke or an attempt to set a good example for her young admirers in the wake of her recent mini-scandal, but it’s certainly a head-scratching fashion statement. As for those pics of President Obama gunnin’ cigs in his Chicago badass days, well, who cares, right? Does the young future prez look cool. Kinda. Does that mean smoking is cool? Hell no. Look, we all know that just because something occasionally looks cool, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is. Jumping over ten flaming school buses on a motorcycle looks cool, but it’s still something that you should never even contemplate doing in real life. Politics aside, in terms of presidential coolness, Obama is up in the top five alongside Teddy Roosevelt (the guy had a pet bear), Franklin Pierce (underrated BAMF), and George W. Bush. (We know. But the guy got a DUI in Texas in the ’70s. No easy feat.) That said, we’re sure Obama has impressed upon his daughters that taking up smoking in 2016, with everything we now know about its many detrimental effects on one’s health is one of the least cool things one can do. Also, in the interest of covering our asses legally, we should remind you that we say much of this in jest, and it is not actually cool to get a DUI in Texas in the ’70s. So if you get your hands on a time traveling Delorean and a case of Billy Beer and things go awry, don’t go pointing the finger at us.

David Petraeus Resigns as CIA Director, Citing Extramarital Affair

David Petraeus has surprisingly and abruptly resigned as director of the CIA. The decorated former chief of U.S. Central Command cited an extramarital affair. “After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair,” Petraeus’ resignation letter said. “Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours.” “Teddy Roosevelt once observed that life’s greatest gift is the opportunity to work hard at work worth doing.” “I will always treasure my opportunity to have done that with you and I will always regret the circumstances that brought that work with you to an end.” The retired four-star general had a distinguished 37-year career in the military before joining the CIA, commanding forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Petraeus, 60, has been widely praised by both sides of the political aisle. He took the helm of the CIA in September 2011; his sudden resignation came as a surprise, just days after President Barack Obama won reelection . President Obama said in a statement: “By any measure, he was one of the outstanding general officers of his generation, helping our military adapt to new challenges, and leading our men and women in uniform through a remarkable period of service in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he helped our nation put those wars on a path to a responsible end.” “As director of the Central Intelligence Agency, he has continued to serve with characteristic intellectual rigor, dedication and patriotism.” Obama accepted Petraeus’ resignation Friday.

MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan Froths: Wall Street Frightens ‘Little Boy’ Obama, Makes Him ‘Bend Over’

MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan appeared on Morning Joe, Wednesday, to dismiss Barack Obama as a “little boy” in the eyes of Wall Street and to assert the President “just bends over,” rather than stand up to the financial industry. The charged language surprised host Joe Scarborough who sputtered, “You know, I was so uncomfortable with a couple of the things you said and then the exclamation point at the end.” Speaking of financial reform, Ratigan attacked, “…When the Wall Street guys got across the table from him and said ‘Oh you going to change our tax code little boy ?'” After dismissing Obama’s ability to oppose Wall Street, Ratigan vulgarly claimed, ” But with this guy, he just bends over every time.” After Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski expressed their amazement over the comments, Ratigan first asserted, “I’m not trying to offend.” He then quickly changed course and opined, “I am trying to offend, because I am offended. And everybody in America is offended and they are right to be offended.” Ratigan isn’t the first MSNBC and Morning Joe regular to make highly questionable comments. On February 23, 2010 , Donny Deutsch appeared on another program, the Joy Behar Show, and referred to Republican Marco Rubio as a “coconut.” (Coconut is a racist term for Hispanics who are brown on the outside and white on the inside.) Deutsch later apologized . Considering that many liberal journalists have jumped on any criticism of Obama as proof of racism, it will be interesting to see how Ratigan’s comments are received. A transcript of the July 14 segment, which aired at 7:11am EDT, follows: JOE SCARBOROUGH: When do we start cutting back? DYLAN RATIGAN: We start cutting after we start clawing back. I don’t know why, as country, we refuse to deal with the issue of compensation that is being paid out to individuals who are taking that money predicated on their control of the government and not on their introduction of any value. 75 percent of what happens in the financial industry is a racket. It should be basically outlawed so that we can restore capitalism. And why we don’t deal with tax dodge that exists at the top. Again, Barack Obama, very aggressive in his campaign trail about [starts doing an Obama impression] how he was going to take care of the private equity tax loophole and work for the American people. It’s not a very good Barack Obama. Maybe that was- JOHN HEILMANN: Sounds more like a Texas Congressman. RATIGAN: And he didn’t do it, when it came down to it, when the Wall Street guys got across the table from him and said “Oh you going to change our tax code little boy? ” I think not. Because I’ll tell you right now, when you’re a 75 yr old or an 80 year old billionaire from New York who is looking at any government in this country that’s trying to play with the tax code- Who know who wins, the 80 year old billionaire from New York every time. If its Teddy Roosevelt in office who is not intimated by these types of people he might say “Listen. I don’t care who you are, I don’t care how rich you are, its not going to happen.” But with this guy, he just bends over every time. MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Dylan, you’re very- Oh, my God! SCARBOROUGH: You know, I was so uncomfortable with a couple of the things you said and then the exclamation point at the end. RATIGAN: It’s unbelievable to me. I’m not trying to offend. SCARBOROUGH: Well- RATIGAN: No, no. They want to cut teachers and cops, okay?. You want to cut teachers and police in California, in Massachusetts and Ohio, but you don’t want to restore any fairness to the tax code or eliminate the theft, let alone the extraction? We go to BP, health care, etc. SCARBOROUGH: You don’t actually try to offend. RATIGAN: I am trying to offend, because I am offended. And everybody in America is offended and they are right to be offended.

Chris Matthews Tells Charlie Rose That Bill Clinton Is a Hit In ‘Culturally Conservative’ Areas

Have liberals blacked out the sex-and-perjury impeachment of Bill Clinton? MSNBC’s Chris Matthews appeared on the Charlie Rose show on PBS Thursday, and Rose asked him about how Sen. Blanche Lincoln had a “secret weapon” in her primary race in Arkansas. Matthews responded by laying it on thick about how great Bill Clinton is. Surely viewers giggled as Matthews talked about Clinton giving Lincoln “the full Bill.” Boy, that hug, that goes down in history, he had the French cuffs, looked like a million bucks, he put the full Bill around her. It was really an embrace. And you notice it was gender, because when she came out of that hug she was actually just overwhelmed physically, it was like you could see in her face, “I can`t believe the guy likes me that much and wants to help me that much.” It was great. It was very real. Matthews even claimed Clinton was a terrific asset in “culturally conservative Democratic” areas – as if being a “cultural conservative” isn’t at odds with what Bill Clinton represents. But Matthews is still channeling the more-conservative-than-Obama line from 2008, and then he broke down and said Clinton is great anywhere he goes: The big message coming out of this is, if you`re running, if you`re Joe Sestak running for the Senate this fall, you want him in western Pennsylvania, you want him in the culturally conservative Democratic areas. You want him in New Hampshire, another state where Bill Clinton is enormously popular is Pennsylvania and New Hampshire. If you`re running in Ohio, you want him there. You want him in Missouri, Kentucky — all that sort of state — you want him. In fact, you want him almost anywhere. There were some other notable tidbits sprinkled in: Carly Fiorina’s Deal with the Pro-Life Devil? “Fiorina, I don`t think can win a general election because she`s pro-life. She may have taken that position — opposition to Roe versus Wade, opposition to a woman`s right to choose an abortion. But she now has to stand by that politician in the general. I think that might a Faustian deal for her. That may be a real problem. They haven`t elected a pro-life candidate for high office since Deukmejian way back in the 1980s.” Teddy Roosevelt’s the only iconic figure on Mount Rushmore? Asked why a poll found John F. Kennedy should go on Mount Rushmore, Matthews explained: “I think it`s because his life had the arc of a hero, very much like Teddy Roosevelt. Who people think of when they think of Mount Rushmore, Teddy Roosevelt, he`s the one up there that`s really iconic.” Once again, Matthews ignores that many see JFK as the original TV-era cheating-horndog president. Crist will win, and caucus with the Democrats like Joe Lieberman . “I think Charlie is going to beat the band. He`s going to win the general anyway…Yes, he will be the senator, and I think he will organize for the Democrats.” Democrats won’t lose big in the Senate. “So they can win four or five seats as well as lose six or seven, so I think they can get away with only losing two or three seats in the Senate. In the House, I think they face — they`ll lose 40 seats is tough. I think they`re going to be pretty good — Rahm Emanuel will be pretty good – – they will be putting in the sealers. They will be holding off what they can.” Sarah Palin is an effective demagogue. Matthews previewed his “Rise of the Right” documentary by repeating the lines about how the tea-party movement is anti-government: “Sarah Palin is the queen of this group, the leader of this group. She represents the ability — if you listen to her, she`s very attractive and comes off in a traditional way as sort of an attractive woman from the west. “But if you listen to her, her agitation is brilliant. She gets people mad at their government, she gets people mad at them, the Obama crowd. She uses sarcasm, that demagogic language , which is very effective. If you listen to her rallies those people are angrier when she’s done. She’s very good at it and very smart at how to lead that crowd.”
