Via | HipHopDX WASHINGTON D.C. –  Kanye West is apparently headed to the White House. As reported by the New York Times,  the polarizing MC is expected to meet with Donald Trump and son-in-law/senior adviser Jared Kushner on Thursday (October 11). A representative for ‘Ye confirmed the meeting to the NYT. The G.O.O.D. Music boss will reportedly first meet with Kushner then have lunch with 45. According to a source briefed on the appointment, Kanye is meeting with Kushner, who has been attempting to overhaul the criminal justice system, to discuss job opportunities for former convicts. With Trump, ‘Ye wants to talk about how to increase the number of manufacturing jobs in his hometown of Chicago. READ MORE

Virginia Tech Shooting Leaves Police Officer Dead; Officials Believe Suspect Also Killed

A shooting at Virginia Tech University has left two people dead, including a police officer, and prompted the entire school to be placed on lockdown today. A Virginia Tech police officer was fatally shot on the campus by an as-yet-unidentified gunman, for whom a sweeping search was conducted for four hours. Here’s the local press conference detailing the events of this afternoon: Virginia Tech Shooting Press Conference Around 4:30 p.m. EST, the Blacksburg, Va., school announced on its Twitter feed that “law enforcement agencies have determined there is no longer an active threat or a need to secure in place. Resume normal activities.” Police said that the shooting occurred shortly after noon, after the police officer made a routine traffic stop in the Coliseum parking lot near McComas Hall. During that stop, a person who wasn’t involved in the traffic stop approached and shot the officer, then fled toward a nearby parking lot, officials said. When another investigating officer circled back to approach the person – described as a white male – that person was dead of a gunshot wound. A Virginia state police spokesman said that police didn’t shoot the second person, and he wouldn’t say whether the person was the suspect. It’s unclear if the search is ongoing, but he said investigators feel “confident we located the person,” and “you can kind of read between the lines.” The incident comes after a shooting spree in which a Virginia Tech student, Cho Seung-Hui, shot dead 32 people before killing himself in April 2007. Michelle Duggar Suffers Miscarriage With 20th Child

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar announced some sad news today. A month after they announced her pregnancy with their 20th child , their doctor was unable to find a heartbeat and told her she suffered a miscarriage. “After the appointment, we came back home and told the children,” says Michelle , 45. “We had just been talking about baby names last night and they were getting excited about naming a boy or a girl. It has been a real sad disappointment.” She says the family will select a name after they know if the baby, miscarried in the second trimester, was a boy or girl, and then plan to have a funeral. “I feel like my heart broke telling my children,” says Michelle. “They have all been so excited about this baby and looking forward to April coming around and having a new little one in our arms. That was the most difficult.” Still, she adds that the family’s faith perseveres: “The Lord is the giver of life and he can choose when that life is ready to go on and be with Him.” The stars of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting weathered myriad medical ordeal with their youngest daughter, Josie-Brookyln, born in December 2009. This is actually her second miscarriage. Michelle lost a baby during her second pregnancy. She was taking oral birth control then, citing that as a big reason the pair decided they’d leave the number of children they have “up to God.” In light of these events, should the Duggars still try for a 20th?

Kate Middleton: Tutored on How to Be Royal

Duchess Catherine is undergoing a royal education. According to UK reports, Kate Middleton is receiving “private tutorials” with senior civic leaders to help train and prepare her for her many public duties. “The story is broadly accurate,” a Palace source confirms, although talk of private lessons helping Kate look and act more regal “is probably going to far.” Prince William’s wife has performed just one official engagement since her April 29 wedding, but her royal schedule is set to ramp up in 2012, sources report. “The Duchess is being briefed on how the state works, as well as getting to know our national institutions better and learning more about organizations such as the arts, the media and the government,” the Daily Mail says. “Most of [Kate’s training] is on the job, through engagements, and from her husband and his family,” explains the Palace source, regarding the recent reports. “What The Duchess is doing is using time to get to know institutions and charities so she can determine a path for her to follow when she begins public work.” Next Monday, Kate Middleton and Prince William will open the new Oak Centre for Children and Young People at The Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton, Surrey. The children’s center specializes in cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education, and will be one of the most comprehensive of its kind in all Europe. With his lovely wife by his side, William will unveil a plaque to officially open the center before he and Kate meet hospital staff, key donors and fundraisers. Taylor Armstrong on Russell Armstrong Abuse: New Details

Entertainment Tonight aired its exclusive interview with Taylor Armstrong last night, as the Real Housewife of Beverly Hills went into detail regarding the alleged violent nature of her late husband, Russell. Taylor Armstrong Speaks on Russell Armstrong After explaining how Russell once beat her over a pizza order , Taylor continued: “The first time [Russell] ever really harmed me physically, I was pregnant with Kennedy and he grabbed me by the throat and held me against a wall. Nothing had really happened to set him off, but I saw his ability to go from zero to 60 that quickly.” Taylor says Russell was aware of where his temper might lead him, but he just couldn’t help it: “He would grab me by one side of the hair on my head and bang the other side of my head against the car. He mentioned he was afraid he might kill me, and I think he meant in an almost accidental way, that he would get so angry at me at some time that he would hit me, and I would hit something, or he would grab me by the neck and something would go wrong.” Taylor would cover for her abusive husband, she adds, even once blaming her daughter for her hospital visit: “I could have lost my eye, for sure. I told the doctor that Kennedy had kicked me. Because Russell told me to tell him that. And Russell went with me to the appointment, and sat in the chair with me the entire time. And when I came out of the flap repair, he immediately came into the recovery room with me, and stayed there until I left. And… I didn’t want him to go to jail, so I guess that was all right. Joe Jackson Just Wants to Be Treated With Dignity

Joe Jackson, father of the late Michael Jackson, is feeling disrespected. His lawyer, Brian Oxman, says his client has not been treated with ” dignity and worth ” so far by the judge in the Michael Jackson probate case. Oxman filed papers with a California appeals court, claiming the probate judge was wrong in shutting down Joe’s attempt to 86 MJ’s executors. Close friends John Branca and John McClain have been administering MJ’s estate at the late icon’s request, and as specified in his last, valid will. Joe’s attempts to score cash have been repeatedly struck down by them, as have his attempts to have them removed by the judge in the case. Joe Jackson: One of the all-time characters. The trial judge ruled Joe Jackson had no legal standing to object to the duo, since Joe himself was intentionally excluded by MJ as a beneficiary. Rough . Oxman claims Joe was dependent on his son and should have a right to object to the appointment of men making the financial decisions for the Estate. Although Joe is alleging various misdeeds by the executors – fraud, embezzlement, whatever he can make up next – he’s doing more harm than good. A lawyer for Michael Jackson’s kids – Paris, Prince and Blanket – claims Joe is actually harming them with the “procedural wrangling.” Margaret Lodise says Joe only cares about his stake and, therefore, he’s “the ultimate dog in the manger.” Ouch. The truth hurts, doesn’t it?

D.O.J. Report Advises Pursuing C.I.A. Abuse Cases

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department’s ethics office has recommended reversing the Bush administration and reopening nearly a dozen prisoner-abuse cases, potentially exposing Central Intelligence Agency employees and contractors to prosecution for brutal treatment of terrorism suspects, according to a person officially briefed on the matter.
