Getty Images CultureCon Returns To New York This Year CultureCon is coming. The one-day conference–formed by The Creative Collective NYC–will take place next month in Maspeth, New York, where creatives and entrepreneurs of color will come together to celebrate their influence on society. This year’s event is going to be be MC’d by broadcaster and journalist Taylor Rooks, and will also include speakers like La La Anthony , Trevor Jackson, DeRay Mckesson, and Charlamagne Tha God . Charlamagne spoke on the upcoming event, saying, “I’m excited to do CultureCon because my friend Rachel Edwards at Viacom told me it’s a cool vibe for creatives of colo, and she asked me if I was speaking at CultureCon last year, but I wasn’t. But I am this year, so now Rachel thinks I’m cool and that’s important to me.” Taylor Rooks, who just recently announced her new position at Bleacher Report, added: “CultureCon is one of the best events of the year. It’s an opportunity to bring such an array of talented and influential people of color to one space and you can genuinely feel the energy. It’s amazing to hear from some of the top figures in the industry and get an up-close look into what makes the culture. It’s not an event, it’s an experience. Every person will leave feeling inspired and empowered.” CultureCon 2018 will also feature things like workshops, panel discussions, and fireside chats. “We set out to create a conference for us, by us, and it’s been so incredible to see the response so far,” said Imani Ellis, founder of The Creative Collective. “Our goal is to curate brave spaces for creatives of color and there is truly some special about the collective energy that emerges when you’ve built something with your community.” This event is going to take place on October 13, which is right around the corner. You can learn more about the conference at CultureCon’s official website .
Source: JLN Photography/WENN.com / WENN Birdman is reportedly fighting to keep his rights to a famed studio in Miami that has been a recording hub to the stars. The business mogul born Bryan Williams is hoping to continue working out of the Hit Factory Criteria Recording Studios where greats like Aretha Franklin, James Brown, and others have recorded. The Blast reports : Earlier this month, EMG Transfer Agent filed documents, obtained by The Blast, seeking to take control of Birdman’s Hit Factory Criteria Recording Studios. EMG says they believe the studio is a high-end fully functioning and operating music facility, but accuse Birdman of not turning over any rent earned from clients using the studio, despite a court order. What’s more, EMG claims that big stars have been to the Hit Factory lately, including The Rock, and Marc Anthony, who is finishing up his new album. Birdman responded in court documents, arguing that the Hit Factory doesn’t get paid rent and claiming he has zilch to turn over. He says the studio is used as a developmental arm of his business to create demo tapes for up and coming young artists who have been identified by Birdman as possible stars. The document adds that despite high-profile clients still using the space, Birdman believes his name attachment is a draw for young artists and also will hurt his chances at signing another big star. If he gets kicked out of the studio, Birdman is arguing that Hit Factory will fall out of favor with the industry and hurt the business. — Photo: WENN

This Love Magazine shit is such a joke, that it’s become a low level obsession for me, I’m like what dog shit did they scrape off the walls of their conference room when they were figuring out an idea for their annual advent calendar…I think they got to “the girls will have big followings, they will be diverse so we aren’t called racists, we will use video people with experience or a solid name, and that should be good enough”… No story…art doesn’t have a story….just CONCEPT…you know in this Ciara video we see their abuse of a green screen…in their other videos you see a solid reminder that everything else they did this year was also shit….their credit roll is more interesting than the actual video…because I like the fucking snowflakes…this is a christmas calendar you fucking lazy fucks…who have fucking budget – and pull this…unreal… Not to mention who the fuck is Ciara anyway.
