Game of Thrones: 9 Major Differences Between the Show and the Books

Even if you've never read George R.R. Martin's a A Song of Ice and Fire series, you're probably aware that the Game of Thrones showrunners have taken some serious liberties in adapting their source material. Some of the changes make perfect sense and were entirely expected (A 13-year-old Daenerys would've made for some pretty uncomfortable scenes in season one.), whereas others took hardcore fans by surprise. (Is  Sansa Stark really marrying Ramsay Bolton ?!) Here's a rundown of some of the biggest changes between the books and the wildly popular show. Obviously, spoilers lie ahead:   1. Worst. Fiance. Ever. In the books, Ramsay marries a friend of Sansa Stark’s, believing her to be Arya Stark. (Yeah, it’s complex). On the show, the writers chose to simplify things and raise the dramatic stakes by having the notorious sadist marry Sansa, instead. Might be good news for the audience, but it’s TERRIBLE news for poor Sansa. 2. THAT Scene Next to Joffrey’s Body One of GoT’s most controversial scenes showed what appeared to be Jaime Lannister raping his sister (and lover) next to the body of their dead son, Joffrey. In the book, the sex is consensual…though still pretty darn disturbing. 3. More Deaths Mean Fewer Actors to Pay! Barristan and Mance lost their lives this season, yet remain alive in the world of the books. The same can be said of Bran’s friend Jojen Reed in season four. Of course, in other worldly Westeros, you can never completely rule out the possibly of a return. In the books, the slain Catelynn Tully returns as the zombie-like Lady Stoneheart hell-bent on avenging her son’s death. That obviously hasn’t happened yet on the show, but we’re holding out hope. 4. Tyrion Lannister: Disfigured No More! In the books, Tyrion is profoundly disfigured at the Battle of Blackwater. On GoT, he’s simply left with a cool scar. Peter Dinklage explained the decision in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying, They’d have to [digitally paint] over my face in every frame, and that’s costly and time consuming. I think a scar solves everything.” 5. Robb’s Wife Doesn’t Lose Her Life In the books, Robb Stark marries a young nurse named Jeyne Westerling after he sleeps with her and feels guilty about it. On the show he marries Talisa Maegyr following a slightly longer romance. A pregnant Talisa gets stabbed to death at the Red Wedding. As far as we know, Jeyne is still alive in the books. 6. A Tale of Two Reeks In both the books and the show, Theon sacks Winterfell under orders from his father. In the books, however, he’s assisted by a hygenically-challenged prisoner named Reek…who eventually betrays him and reveals that he’s actually Ramsay Snow. In Martin’s version, Theon disappears for the next three books. In GoT, we get every gruesome detail of his torture. View Slideshow

Khloe Kardashian and French Montana: Only Back on For Keeping Up With the Kardashians Storyline?

Are Khloe Kardashian and French Montana only back on so they can run it back on another season of her family’s reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians? As you know if you watch Kourtney and Khloe Take the Hamptons online , the two were inseparable over the summer, but things went south in September. Khloe dumped French in September amid rumors he was using her for fame, even though he basically admits he was paid to date her by Kris Jenner . Just because it was arranged doesn’t mean there weren’t real feelings there, of course, and the two certainly seemed like they got along wonderfully. They gushed about each other often and appeared to part ways on amicable terms, leading some fans to wonder if they ever even broke up this fall. It was no surprise, then, that Khloe Kardashian and French Montana got back together (supposedly) in the last few weeks, but now we know this twist … They’re currently filming Season 10 of Keeping Up with the Kardashians! Yes, after breaking up after filming of Khloe & Kourtney Take The Hamptons this summer, Khloe, “was single and loving it,” an insider said of the reality star. They weren’t bitter, but “things with French had just run their course.” Watch Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons Season 1 Episode 2 Online Watch Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons Season 1 Episode 1 Online However, “once filming began for the upcoming season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians ,” the source dishes, “all of a sudden, they were back together.” “Khloe’s friends weren’t happy because they feel that French is just using her for fame,” the source said. “But it was made very clear to Khloe’s closest gal pals.” “This relationship, if it were to even be called that, it’s all for show . It won’t last, and Khloe even isn’t saying [the couple is in] an exclusive relationship.” This just warms your heart and soul, doesn’t it? Over the weekend, Khloe Kardashian’s crotch made an appearance at French‘s 30th birthday celebration in Bel Air, Calif., nearly breaking the Internet. The fake romance is totes on, in other words. Also in attendance for the rapper’s big 3-0 shindig were the Puppet Master herself, Kris Jenner and Khloe’s sisters Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner. A party guest said that, “Kim kept rolling her eyes the entire night,” and can’t hide her disdain at having to watch and even play a small role in this charade. Khloe Kardashian and French Montana Photos 1. Khloe Kardashian Gun Photo Really, Khloe Kardashian and French Montana?!? The couple poses here with a machine gun online. “It was obvious to everyone there that she didn’t want to be at the party. Khloe can do so much better, according to her, and just wishes should kick him to the curb.” Sounds like she will soon, at least. Just not until after faking it for awhile longer to give us a few more months’ worth of stuff to gossip about when we watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians online .

The Blacklist Season 2 Episode 8 Recap: Moving On

The Blacklist will be ringing in the new year with a fresh slate. Yes, we’re talking about 2015 already because  The Blacklist Season 2 Episode 8 marked the 2014 finale of this strong NBC drama. Watch The Blacklist Season 2 Episode 8 Online The installment found Reddington working to find out who framed him for Berlin’s daughter’s death, while also investigating a bombing in the Soviet Union that killed 50 people. After a few twists and turns, we learned that Red’s associate Alan Fitch (Alan Alda) was actually behind the frame job. Technically, Fitch used people to do his dirty work because that’s how wealthy folks roll, but let there be no doubt: he’s the guilty party. This revelation prompted Berlin to kill Fitch… and Reddington to subsequently kill Berlin. And – bam ! – just like that, The Blacklist has dispensed of a major chunk of the plot from Seasons 1 and 2. And it’s done so in an organic, impressive manner. With the second half of The Blacklist Season 2 set to kick off on Super Bowl Sunday, we now know where things are going: Fitch’s group, known as The Fulcrum, will be going after Red. Meanwhile, Tom is on the loose. He’s more connected to Red than previously believed, as Lizzie couldn’t bring herself to kill her shady husband, which is at least true to her character. Lizzie shared a nice moment with Reddington toward the end of the hour that speaks volumes about how much closer they continue to grow. What did everyone else think of this episode? Does it leave you wanting more next year? A lot more? Go watch The Blacklist online via the video above in order to relive the fall finale and wonder exactly what may in store this February.

The Blacklist: Renewed for Season 2!

The Blacklist has received a green light. Following just two episodes – and an average of 12 million viewers per week – the NBC drama has been renewed for a second season. Said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke of the James Spader-anchored drama: “The many layers of Red Reddington and his mysterious reasons for getting into bed with the FBI seem to be fascinating to fans of this show. With great talent like James Spader and Megan Boone on board, as well our stellar executive producers and the whole cast and crew, we believe this outstanding series will continue to make NBC a big destination on Monday nights.” Among other TV pick-ups and renewals this week: Lucky 7 has been canceled. The Simpsons has been picked up for Season 26. Sleepy Hollow has been renewed for Season 2.
