Source: AUDU ALI MARTE / Getty Triple Suicide Bombing Leaves At Least 30 People Dead A major tragedy hit northeastern Nigeria on Monday that left dozens of people dead. According to The New York Times , at least 30 people were killed in a triple suicide bombing, according to emergency services. Sources say the attacks bear the markings of the Boko Haram jihadist group. On Sunday, three bombers detonated their explosives outside a hall in the town of Konduga, where soccer fans were viewing a game on T.V. Usman Kachalla, the head of operations for the Nigerian emergency management agency, explained on Monday, “The death toll from the attack has so far increased to 30. We have over 40 people injured.” Ali Hassan, who heads a self-defense group in Konduga, said the attack occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday and the operator of the hall had prevented one of the attackers from entering the crowded venue. “There was a heated argument between the operator and the bomber who blew himself up,” Hassan said by telephone, adding that two other bombers were among the crowd at a tea stall nearby when they detonated their vests. “Nine people died on the spot, including the operator, and 48 were injured,” Hassan said. Kachalla of the emergency management agency said that the large number of fatalities was because responders couldn’t reach the site of the explosion quickly and they were ill equipped to deal with the large numbers wounded. Boko Haram remains a suspect in the tragedy. They’ve led a decade-long campaign to create a hard-lined Islamist state in northeastern Nigeria. The last suicide bomb attack was just in April, when two bombers blew themselves up outside the garrison town of Monguno, wounding one soldier while killing another soldier and a vigilante. So far, Boko Haram has claimed 27,000 lives and forced about two million people to flee their homes. Prayers and condolences to those who lost people in the attack.

If you only know one thing about Jana Duggar, it’s probably that she’s unmarried. That wouldn’t be a big deal for most 29-year-olds, but the fact that Jana is still single just a few months shy of 30 is highly unusual for a woman in her community. Duggar women are taught from a young age that procreation is one of their two main reasons for being. (The other being religious devotion, of course.) Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are devotees of the Quiverfull movement and its disgraced founder, Bill Gothard . Gothard teaches that it’s the job of every Christian to produce as many offspring as possible with the goal of eventually overwhelming the rest of the population and creating a Christian planet. As a result, within the Duggars’ community, there’s a tendency to look at a woman who’s “squandered” so many child-bearing years with curiosity … or even contempt. Even Jim Bob has stated that he can’t understand why Jana hasn’t found the right guy . We’re sure he meant to be sympathetic, but knowing that you’re a source of constant befuddlement to your own family has got to be a pretty lonely feeling. Anyway, in spite of the subtle shade and the fact that she’s basically treated like a household slave , Jana still thinks her dad is the best thing since floor-length denim skirts, and she reminded the world of her love for Jim Bob in a recent Instagram post. “Happy Father’s Day to the most wonderful Dad in the whole WORLD!” began Jana’s lengthy caption for the photo above: “My Dad is the one who has taught me so many skills—from tiling floors, basic plumbing & electrical, painting, and car maintenance, to how to get the best deals. He taught me how to drive, helped me buy my first car, and has let me try my hand at design on his different real estate projects… even if it means spending a little more time and money to correct something I’ve messed up on (sometimes we learn by trial and error). “Dad has taught me so much as we work on different projects! Whether it’s designing a home or business space, picking out paint colors, flooring, windows or doors, he’s the mastermind, and I love learning from him and doing projects together with him!!” If you thought Jana was done, you’ve got another thing coming: “Dad is a giver. All of it is very nice, and we applaud Jana for laying her feeling out there so candidly in this age of irony. But everything the Duggars do gets scrutinized and dissected within an inch of its life, so even though Jana couldn’t have made herself any more clear, dozens of followers still zeroed in on the one line about possibly getting married someday. “I am in tears,” wrote one such fan. “What wonderful things to say in honor of your dad. I have no doubt God will bless you with a Godly man like your dad. Just thank God for that future husband of yours.” We suppose Jana sort of invited the speculation by alluding to the fact that she’s still single. Still, the obsession with this twentysomething’s marital status will never not be weird to us. Here’s hoping she’s not as hung up on when and if she’ll get married as her followers seem to be.
