Gabrielle Giffords paid an emotional visit this afternoon to Newtown, Connecticut, as the former Congressman tragically has something in common with this scarred area. Giffords, of course, was shot in the head two years ago outside Tucson in an incident that claimed five people. The brave politician was accompanied by husband Mark Kelly and reportedly met first selectman Pat Llodra, Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman. “Our horrible event of Dec. 14 has some of those same tragic elements as experienced in the Tucson event that so harmed Ms. Giffords and took the lives of innocent citizens,” Llodra said in a statement. “I believe that our community will see Ms. Giffords as an ally in the efforts to draw attention to gun control legislation.” This topic is a hot debate in Washington these days, as well as in Hollywood, where a celebrity-filled PSA was slammed in a recent parody . Giffords plans to meet with families directly affected by the Sandy Hook shooting , but neither the public nor the press is invited to that event. The ex-Congresswoman wishes to keep it private in a show of respect.

This wasn’t a one-off foreign booty call like Nour, either. After meeting through mutual friends, “They’ve been texting ever since … even when he’s with Rihanna.” Day. Um. After a long period of speculation, Rihanna and Chris Brown resumed their friendship-turned love affair in earnest this fall after he broke up with Karrueche. They’re clearly exchanging bodily fluids again … the question is whether it’s monogamous. Particularly on Chris’ side. Guy seems to be available whenever. If In Touch ‘s story is true … talk about a cruel Sommer . Sorry. Fittingly, Rihanna and Chris released a HOT duet together called “Nobody’s Business” this fall, reportedly all about their tumultuous relationship. At the epicenter of this group of friends is Eva Marcille (“America’s Next Top Model), fashion model, actor, producer and recent television host of Oxygen’s “Hair Battle Spectacular.” Her group of best friends includes Denyce Lawton, an accomplished actress who starred in Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” on TBS, Nikki Chu, a dynamic interior and product designer who has designed for several celebrities and major brands and Kelly Marie Dunn, a talent and brand manager who has worked with A-list musicians and pop stars. As their tumultuous and utterly predictable split continues to play out in public, Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi will discuss it Monday on The Bachelorette. The duo sat down with their former host-pimp Chris Harrison to talk about the split for the July 5 segment, and let’s just say it’s as ugly as it is contrived. A sneak peek of the interview reveals no big Bachelorette spoilers – just dueling accusations and blaming one another for the demise of a fake relationship. Asked why they made the breakup so public, Vienna said: “Either way, our relationship had been public. No matter how we broke up, this had to happen.” Right. There was no other option. “The world was going to want to know,” she said. “I know Jake and I knew as soon as we broke up he was going to run to a media outlet and tell his side. I just wanted to make sure I had a voice also. I haven’t had a voice this entire time.” Jake responds … well, presumably. The clip we have here doesn’t show that part, but he reportedly gets so pissed at her that makes a fist at Vienna at one point. Girardi’s accusations are consistent with what she’s been saying all along, though – that he’s a fame whore who misled her. Dude doesn’t even put out!
