What The Hell?? Video Game Allows Players To Reenact Sandy Hook Elementary School Massacre

This is going too far. Video Game Reenacts Sandy Hook Massacre The Sandy Hook massacre was a terrible tragedy… what company would make a video game about that? Poor judgment. According to Think Progress: In an online video game, players follow shooter Adam Lanza’s footsteps the day of the Sandy Hook Elementary school mass shooting. Called “The Slaying of Sandy Hook Elementary School,” the widely condemned simulation takes players through the shootings of 26 children and adults before it shows their “score”: Game creator Ryan Jake Lambourn claims it has a “gun safety” message, but activists against gun violence are baffled and disgusted by the game. The family of Victoria Soto, a murdered Newtown teacher, took their outrage to Twitter, telling Lambourn, “Please tell us how playing a game that recreates how Vicki died would be beneficial?” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) told the Hartford Courant he hopes the “very disturbed person who could think of something like this sees the cruelty of what he’s done and stops it.” Post-Newtown, the National Rifle Association faulted video games and media, not guns, in its wide cast for blame. But the NRA is not above using controversial shooting games when it can profit from them. One month after the tragedy, the NRA released a game with coffin-shaped targets to promote gun ownership. Jim Carrey Slams Kick-Ass 2 as Too Violent, Producer Defends Project

Jim Carrey is speaking out about his upcoming film Kick-Ass 2, and not in a good way. Rather, the star is condemning it for its use of what he feels is excessive violence following the tragic events in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, last year. Jim Carrey Kick-Ass 2 Trailer – Theatrical “I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence,” the 51-year-old actor tweeted. “I meant to say my apologies to others involve[d] with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.” Comic book author Mark Millar, who also executive produced Kick-Ass 2 , wrote a blog post following the tweets to express his opinion on the matter: “As you may know, Jim is a passionate advocate of gun-control,” he wrote. “I respect both his politics and his opinion, but I’m baffled by this sudden announcement as nothing seen in this picture wasn’t in the screenplay 18 months ago.” “Yes, the body-count is very high, but a movie called Kick-Ass 2 really has to do what it says on the tin.” “A sequel to the picture that gave us HIT-GIRL was always going to have some blood on the floor and this should have been no shock to a guy who enjoyed the first movie so much.” “Ultimately, it’s his decision, but I’ve never bought the notion that violence in fiction leads to violence in real-life any more than Harry Potter casting a spell creates more Boy Wizards in real-life.” “Our job as storytellers is to entertain and our toolbox can’t be sabotaged by curtailing the use of guns in an action-movie,” he concluded. What do you think? Is Jim off-base? Or is his point about violence in movies something that warrants a broader discussion beyond just Kick-Ass 2?

Duck Dynasty Sticks It to Morrissey, Returns HUGE

Duck Dynasty sent a very clear message to Morrissey this week: suck it, vegan! The A&E series returned last night to record ratings, as 8.6 million viewers tuned in to watch these hunters do their thing, making the episode the most watched telecast in series history – and cable’s most watched reality telecast of 2013. Prior to its airing, the program got an unexpected PR boot from the aforementioned British artist, who canceled an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday because these “animal serial killers” were also scheduled as guests. After joking in his monologue the next day that he respects Morrissey’s stance on the issue, Kimmel added “there’s a very good reason why I didn’t dump the Duck Dynasty guys for” the singer. “And that’s because they have guns.” Morrissey, however, STILL would not let the topic rest, countering that Kimmel “found time to jokingly promote gun-ownership – hugely amusing for the parents at Sandy Hook , no doubt. “He also promoted his special guests Duck Dynasty – who kill beings for fun. None of the above issues are, of course, as important as Jimmy Kimmel himself, who has finally revealed his show to have an overwhelming loss of meaning. Tune in and relive the intellectual fog of the 1950s.” And through it all, Duck Dynasty thrives. Heck, it received more mentions on Facebook in 2012 than ANY other TV series. Take that, Game of Thrones .

Adam Lanza Photos: New Images, Details on Sandy Hook Shooter Emerge

Several photos of Adam Lanza, accused Newtown, Conn., school shooter, have emerged, along with information about the troubled youth’s past. Adam Lanza was spending more time alone in the months leading up to the mass shooting as his mother, Nancy Lanza, encouraged him to be independent. He suffered from mental disabilities, a joint Hartford Courant/Frontline investigation reports in a new documentary, entitled “Raising Adam Lanza.” The Lanza documentary airs Tuesday night on PBS. In it reporters from the Courant attempt to retrace the steps taken by Nancy and Adam in recent years. What they found complicates the picture that has occasionally appeared in the media of Nancy as a gun obsessed mother who was in denial about her son. Adam is believed to have shot his mother four times in the head as she slept on December 14 before shooting his way into Sandy Hook Elementary. There, he killed 20 children, six women and himself. Sandy Hook conspiracy theories aside, all evidence points to the fact that Lanza acted alone. The question is why, and if anyone could’ve seen it coming. The 20-year-old had been spending more time alone in his mother’s home in the affluent Connecticut suburb in the months leading up the shooting. Adam’s social world began shrinking after he left Newtown High School at age 16 to enroll in a nearby college, where he made As and Bs before withdrawing. Since 2010, Adam had not attended school. Between 2010 and 2012, Nancy took Adam to gun ranges to practice shooting. She purchased four firearms, including one used in the attack, during that period. Friends say Nancy used that as a way to bond with a withdrawn son. Police also found thousands of dollars worth of violent video games in the Lanzas’ home. Police believe Adam may have been inspired by the video games, since he changed the magazines of his weapons more frequently than was necessary. Adam may have been “competing” with Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik, based on news articles about Breivik’s 2011 crime they found in the home. John McCain: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a Space Monkey!

U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) finds himself in some hot water this afternoon following a Tweet he wrote about Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Basically, he likened Ahmadinejad to a space monkey. Iran claimed in January that it shot a monkey into space, while Ahmadinejad vocalized his desire to be the first person Iran sends there when the time comes. “So Ahmadinejad wants to be first Iranian in space – wasn’t he just there last week?” tweeted McCain in reference to both of these recent stories. Ahmadinejad actually wouldn’t be the first Iranian in space – Anousheh Ansari paid $20 million for a Russian Soyuz trip to the International Space Station in 2006. But that’s beside the point. Many felt McCain’s joke was in poor taste, or even racist. Others pointed out the joke was apparently used by TV host Jimmy Kimmel in recent days. The 76-year-old former GOP presidential candidate then issued a follow-up: “Re: Iran space tweet … lighten up folks, can’t everyone take a joke?” Should they? Or should McCain apologize?

Beyonce Illuminati Sign: Did She Flash it During Halftime Show?

Among the crazier rumors (or is it?!) slash burning questions to emerge from Super Bowl XLVII: Did Beyonce flash the Illuminati sign during her halftime show? Also … what the heck are the Illuminati ? According to legend, it’s this super-tiny, super-secret group of influential individuals who single-handedly shape and alter the course of world events. Eerie, we know. Makes ya think. Naturally, the New World Order conspiracy theorists are having a field day with Beyonce halftime show as a result … but it begs one very big question: If she truly were in an influential, secret society, why would she flash the “signature” triangle sign to one of the largest viewing audiences in human history? Right. Even nuttier than the Sandy Hook conspiracy videos. The more likely scenario is that she was showing some love to her husband Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records, which uses the diamond as its symbol. Plenty of other celebrities, including Warren Buffet, have been seen throwing their hands up in the style of the Roc-A-Fella icon … like a BOSS. Then again … Warren Buffet? Wealthy investor with huge political influence and connections? Jay-Z, one of the most powerful figures in entertainment? Guys are straight up Illuminati. THINK ABOUT IT.

Newtown Didn’t Happen, Professor Claims

A professor is causing befuddlement and outrage with recent claims that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn., did not occur. The Daily Mail reported that James Tracy, a tenured history professor at Florida Atlantic University, wrote this in a lengthy post on his personal blog. Tracy explores what he says is the possibility that the Newtown shooting may not have happened the way that it is widely believed, if it happened at all. The 47-year-old professor bases his claims largely on the flurry of conflicting media reports that were made as news of the shooting was released. The Daily Mail also reported that the school has distanced itself from the professor. “While it sounds outrageous, one is left to inquire whether the Sandy Hook shooting ever took place, at least in the way law enforcement authorities and the news media have described,” he says. On his blog, he hits a number of other conspiracy theories: September 11, the purview of the Department of Homeland Security, the PATRIOT Act, the death of Osama bin Laden and Fukishima. In his latest shocking claim, he focuses much of his attention on the fact that early reports claimed that police were either searching for or had two suspects in custody. The story then progressed that Ryan Lanza was the lone gunman, based reportedly on the identification that the shooter had on him at the time of the attack. Ryan, 24, was then found at his home in Hoboken, N.J. – two states away from where his 20-year-old brother Adam, the actual shooter, committed the atrocities. Police say Adam Lanza opened fire inside the Connecticut elementary school, killing 20 children and six adults. Police say Lanza then killed himself.
