Teen Mom Dads, Husbands & Boyfriends Ranked: Who’s #1?!

So how great are all those guys on Teen Mom, huh?! Such remarkable specimens of manhood, every one of them, filled to the brim with integrity, compassion, and grace. … Wait, like 85% of them are completely terrible human beings ? Well, huh. Sure, some of them baby daddies are awful, but some of the aren't! Some of them are kind of OK, and a few are even great ! Check out our ranking of all the Teen Mom fellas, from best to worst. And prepare to be amazed, as always, at the level of awfulness on this show. 1. Cole DeBoer Cole DeBoer is Chelsea Houska’s husband, and thank goodness for that. He’s a wonderful stepfather to Aubree (and he’s made it clear that he’s ready to adopt her if/when Adam gives up his parental rights for her like he did with his other child), he and Chelsea have had two precious babies together so far, and ever since he first came on the show, he’s been perfect. He’s an easy number one, y’all. 2. Taylor McKinney Taylor McKinney is Maci Bookout’s husband, and they share two children together, Jayde and Maverick — and they’re often talking about having more, whether it’s through more pregnancies or fostering and adoption. They’re also raising Bentley, the son Maci had with Ryan Edwards, and it’s safe to say that Taylor is doing all the heavy dad lifting there, too. Sure, Taylor drinks Bud Light like it’s water and he’s in a desert, but he’s an amazing father. 3. Tyler Baltierra Tyler Baltierra has been with Catelynn Lowell since they were 12 years old (yes, literally), and when she got pregnant at 16, they placed their daughter up for adoption. They’ve since had two more children, daughters Nova and Vaeda, and they’ve been through just a lot of stuff together. He can be pretty insensitive sometimes, but he’s proven that he’s one of the best dads and husbands in the whole franchise. 4. Gary Shirley Let’s just say it: Gary was not great in the early days of Teen Mom. He never did anything to deserve being abused by Amber, to be clear, but he was kind of a jerk. Fortunately he’s matured a bit over the years, and he seems like a great father to Leah and Emilee, the daughter he shares with wife Kristina. And thank goodness for that, because it looks like Amber may be headed back to prison soon. 5. Andrew Glennon Oh, Andrew … where do we begin? He loses points for his history of restraining orders, but the way he’s stepped up for baby James after Amber’s horrifying meltdown in July is definitely commendable. Since the arrest, we’ve heard plenty of evidence that’s proved that she’d been abusing him for nearly a year before the July assault, and Andrew has said that she’d even been rough with James, too. It looks like he’s placing James’ safety and wellbeing above all else, and if that’s not being a good dad, what is? 6. Corey Simms Corey Simms was married to Leah Messer, and they had twins Ali and Gracie. They got divorced when Leah couldn’t stay faithful to him (and also because they had twins and got married when they were teenagers), but Corey’s been a good father, and a good coparent with Leah. Tyler Baltierra: Heck Yeah I’m in Touch With My Feminine Side!

Tyler Baltierra has had his ups and downs, getting praised and dad-shamed from one day to the next. This time, a follower came forward with a comment — that Tyler is very in touch with his feminine side. Tyler agrees 100%, and his response should be read by men (especially dads) all across the globe. “You seem to be very comfortable with your feminine side,” one of Tyler’s followers recently commented. Tyler replied: “It has never bothered me.” He recalled: “I was always told as a kid that I was ‘too feminine.'” That is, of course, both an absurd and a hateful thing to say to a child. Fortunately, Tyler overcame those criticisms without letting them warp his perspective. “But I was raised in a household as the only boy,” Tyler explained. “With my single mother and my older sister.” This was absolutely to his benefit. “I think I was blessed to be raised without the idea that I have to trade my sensitive emotions for masculinity,” he reflected. Tyler affirmed: “I was raised by a very strong FEMININE woman.” “And,” he concluded. “I am not ashamed of it at all!” Tyler left the comment, but that wasn’t the end of it. Realizing how important the point that he had made was, he took a screenshot. He then uploaded the image to his Instagram Stories, highlighting the text so that it could not be missed. It’s a lesson that he wants to impart upon his fans and followers. Not all of the baby daddies of Teen Mom are people who should be giving out life advice, but Tyler has a good head on his shoulders. It’s not clear if the commenter to whom Tyler responded was trying to give a compliment or to be shady. To be clear, their words were complimentary. Some people, however, would take those words as an insult. Those people have no business around children. Notice how Tyler didn’t accuse the commenter of levying criticism and also didn’t take it as a compliment. He simply replied to the statement at face value, which is a good tactic when you don’t know the original poster’s intentions. Tyler has faced “criticisms” before over the way that he styles himself and takes care of his body. Rumors that he may be bisexual have circulated for years. Tyler has done a reasonably good job of swatting rumors that he is bi or gay without overdoing it and coming across as homophobic. For the record, taking care of your health and caring about your appearance are not based upon gender and sexuality. Those are just things that people can do or not do for themselves. And if Tyler sets off some people’s “gaydar” … it really doesn’t matter. Only he gets to define his sexuality. The fact of the matter is that Tyler is a father of daughters, and his connection to his feminine side makes him a better dad. He can play with his daughters without being self-conscious or haunted by pernicious ideas that toxic masculinity implanted in his mind. Nova is already benefitting from that. Vaeda will do the same. Catelynn Lowell: I Considered an Abortion When I Was Pregnant With Vaeda

Their trial separation did nothing but prove that Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierre really do love each other . But the time that they spent apart was difficult, especially because Catelynn was pregnant at the time. In fact, she has now come forward to reveal that, while she was pregnant with Vaeda, she contemplated an abortion. On Monday night’s Teen Mom OG , Catelynn spoke very frankly about the difficult decisions that she faced. “There was points I was like, I’m going to f–king move everything and leave and he’s going to come home to nothing,” she tells a producer. That is an understandable an not an uncommon impulse, especially during a trial separation.  “There’s still sometimes where I’m like, man I feel really guilty,” Catelynn confesses. She explains: “I feel guilty for even contemplating aborting Vaeda.” Catelynn then expresses a truly endaring concern — that Vaeda will mystically inherit the knowledge of her mother’s huge decision. “Like,” Catelynn wonders. “Is she going to remember that?” “They say when you’re pregnant, things that you go through in life, things that you say and stuff, they feel and they hear,” she worries. Fortunately, in real life, no — a fetus may experience a wash of adrenaline or certain hormones. It’s not just that complicated thoughts aren’t magically transmitted to one’s womb — a fetus would have no way of understanding the mother’s thoughts. “We were going through so much in our relationship and stuff,” Catelynn says of why she wondered if it was the right time for another child. “I was just like, is it smart to bring a child into this world if me and him aren’t going to be together?” she explains. “I remember talking to him about it, crying,” Catelynn recalls. “Like maybe I should just abort this baby” “And,” she describes. “He was like, ‘No.'” Catelynn is ultimately “glad” she didn’t go through with it, but notes: “at the time, it was a thought in my mind.” Between a heavy conversation during one of their “date nights” and the pregnancy, Tyler says that hew as truly motivated to fix their marriage. “I knew I cannot bring another kid into the world together and not working on these things,” he explains. That is very responsible. He admits that Catelynn considering an abortion had “really freaked me out.” Tyler says that he knew “in my heart, in my spirit” that the two of them would unite and “parent this baby.” Tyler also addressed Catelynn’s concern that Vaeda would somehow “feel” Catelynn’s indecision. “Whatever happened in the womb,” he assures his wife. Tyler continues: “Your love and life and giving it to her is going to outweigh anything that happened the nine months she was growing inside you.” “You’re really strong,” he affirms to the mother of his children. That is really precious and it sounds like exactly the right thing to say. Catelynn really, truly doesn’t need to worry that Vaeda will magically intuit much of anything from her pregnancy. Stress, malnutrition, and drug use can absolutely impact a developing fetus. It doesn’t make the baby born with special adult knowledge. But that’s a fine conversation for Catelynn to have with Vaeda one day. “I wanted to make absolutely sure that your father and I could give you your best chance,” she could tell Vaeda. “We realized that we could,” Catelynn can continue. “So we decided to bring you into the world.” It’s as simple as that. Tyler Baltierra: I Still Love Catelynn Lowell! I Can PROVE It!

There was a time when Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra were thought to be one of the Teen Mom world’s most stable couples. We think it’s safe to say those days are long gone. Over the course of the past two years, Tyler and Cate have been to hell and back. At one point Lowell and Baltierra even separated for a month, and many fans viewed it as the prelude to a divorce. But against all odds, the OG couple has reunited. And despite rumors that Tyler is still planning to leave Catelynn , it seems the Baltierrashaver managed to patch up their differences. Or at least that’s what Tyler’s latest Instagram activity would have us believe. The reality star posted two photos of Catelynn over the weekend, including the one above in Lowell appears to be in deep sleep. His caption for the pics left fans sharply divided: “My Babe @catelynnmtv I love you so much! (sorry for taking a pic of you sleeping, I know you hate that) I just couldn’t help it!” Tyler wrote. “You’re so damn beautiful even when you’re not trying,” Baltierra added. “I’m so blessed to have you & to hold you in my arms every night for the rest of my life! #13YearsStrong#MyPartnerThroughLife#MyBestFriend” For the most part, fans were appreciative of the pics and of Tyler’s sentiment: “My God! Wish every girl had a man like you!” one fan commented. “You guys are the best! Favorite couple since teen mom started,” another remarked. Most of the comments were along those lines — kind words for a couple that’s been through the wringer in recent years. But Tyler and Catelynn are often accused of putting on a show and attempting to convince fans that their marriage is more solid than it actually is. So naturally, some haters came out of the woodwork to call BS on Tyler’s admittedly schmaltzy outpouring of affection. “Not sure about most moms, but I don’t sleep in full makeup and bright red lipstick,” one commenter remarked. Others accused the couple of overcompensating and trying too hard to convince the world they’re happy in their marriage. We can’t say with 100 percent certainty that’s not the case. But we can say most of the haters were really reaching on this one. Fortunately, dozens of comnmenters came to Tyler’s defense and pointed out that this post is probably just what it appears to be: “Let’s just stop being negative and see this post for what it is meant to be,” wrote one follower. “A husband showing love to his wife. Tyler Baltierra Shares Heartbreaking Update on Father: Butch Is Back on Drugs

Back in April of 2018,  Teen Mom OG fans were overjoyed to learn that Tyler Baltierra’s father, Butch Baltierra, had gotten sober after struggling with substance abuse for most of his life Sadly, Tyler revealed this week that Butch’s recovery was short-lived. Appearing on Kailyn Lowry’s Coffee Convos podcast, Tyler and wife Catelynn Lowell opened about some recent hard times in their family. “He’s relapsed,” Tyler said with regard to Butch. “He’s in the middle of a relapse right now. That’s the reality of that situation right now.” Tyler went on to say that the ups and downs of his father’s battle with addiction will be documented on the new season of Teen Mom OG: “He’s filming, he filmed a couple of scenes,” Tyler said. “So, this season you’ll see me go down there a couple of times. He lives in Austin and he got out of rehab he did his sober living, all that stuff.” As The Ashley’s Reality Roundup points out , the relapse is not entirely unexpected, as Tyler’s sister Amber recently revealed that her father was once again flirting with casual drug use: “He drinks a couple beers here and there as well,” Amber wrote on Facebook.  “He thinks he can manage all this but it will progress into something big again. That’s what this disease does.” It seems that Tyler, Catelynn, and Amber all agree that a new lady friend of Butch’s named Caroline is at least partially to blame for his relapse. “We don’t really try to film with her because I said if I see her, my ass is going to be sitting in jail,” Catelynn said. “The stuff that she said about [Amber] my sister-in-law does not make me happy and I would love to beat her ass!” Tyler says Caroline bombarded his sister with rude text messages after Amber opened up to MTV about sexual abuse she had suffered in childhood: “[Caroline] went wild and, I’ll tell you right now, that’s the sign of relapse,” Tyler said. “So my dad dating a woman who is going to reach out to you guys, probably in a crazy, drunken state [is not good].” Yes, it’s one thing after another for the Baltierras. Mackenzie McKee Provides Sad/Inspirational Update on Cancer-Stricken Mom

Mackenzie McKee has been in the news often of late, for reasons both disturbing and also intriguing. But the former Teen Mom 3 star and future Teen Mom OG cast member is not making headlines here for allegedly abusing her dog or being chosen to take over for Jenelle Evans . Sadly, she’s doing so instead for providing fans with an update about her sick mother. This past May, Angie Douthit herself told followers that she had tragically suffered a major setback in her battle against cancer. Which is to say: The cancer had returned. At stage four, the most critical stage of cancer, Douthit said the disease had “gone wild” and that the prognosis did not look positive. “I wish I could say that I’m in remission,” Angie said at the time . “Or that the cancer has vanished.” She continued: “But instead this is what we were told. Basically the cancer has gone wild. I have new tumors in my brain. And the old ones are growing… The tumors in both my lungs are progressing and growing again.” Just so, so sad all around. Angie did at least end this message on a hopeful note, saying she had turned herself and her fate over to a higher power. “I pray that I can always have a sound mind  and that I can continue speaking until God is finished with me,” she explained. “He is still in complete control. And he greatly loves me.” We truly can’t imagine being in this situation and we salure Angie for being able to have this sort of attide. Now, her daughter is here with an update that is simultaneously inspirational and depressing. “Laying on her back, horrible pneumonia ontop of stage 4 lung cancer spreading through her body, and unable to breath without her oxygen mask,” McKee wrote as a caption to the image above. She added of her brave mother: “She is still staying positive and finding the best in life. She is praying for YOU today if you are dealing with sickness. And she wants to send you a positive message. “I love you momma bear. Keep shining @angiedouthit.” Douthit also shared the same photo on her Instagram page, along with a longer update on her health. “Having pneumonia is about as much fun as cleaning toilets. But, in the end the toilets shine and smell clean,” Douthit wrote. “I too will come out of this with clean lungs and a shining smile. I’m still on oxygen. But with all the meds I’m getting, I’m sleeping a lot! My children have visited me and I can’t even wake up sometimes to tell them I love them. And, poor Brad is being a trooper.” Concluded Angie, who has lung and brain cancer: “I know hospitals are boring and he’d rather be fishing, but he chooses to be right here with me. I had also got this crazy case of thrush. “I thought only new born babies got it. But apparently it’s a thing for chemo and cancer patients. So imagine, your mouth and throat hurts, but you have to cough because u have pneumonia. “Not cool. I have to laugh. I mean it’s comical. The only thing that tastes good is jello.” Earlier this month, McKee was cast as a recurring player on the next season of Teen Mom OG. Catelynn Lowell to Tyler Baltierra: Divorce Me, Whatever, I Don’t Need You!

Last year was pretty rough for Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra. Like, so rough that they very nearly got divorced. But 2019 has been a whole new chapter for them — they've been working on their new house, they're entering into their 10th year on Teen Mom, and of course they just welcomed their sweet little baby Vaeda a few months ago! Things seem entirely different than they were back then. But Catelynn and Tyler still struggling behind the scenes? Judging by this new statement from Cate … yeah, things don't sound too great. Could that divorce finally be happening?! 1. The Baltierras In discussing the problems between Catelynn and Tyler, where do we even begin? 2. A Look Back After all, they’ve been together since they were 12 years old, they had a child together a few years after that that they placed for adoption because her mother and his father, who had married each other, were abusive, neglectful addicts. 3. Man Oh Man Yeah, they’ve been through a lot, but they pushed through it, and in 2015, she got pregnant again with darling little Nova. It should have been a blissful, beautiful time for them, and we’re sure much of it was, but unfortunately, Catelynn developed severe postpartum depression. 4. Getting Help She dealt with it on her own for over a year before heading out to spend a few weeks at a treatment center in Arizona — and even then, she still struggled with depression after coming home. 5. Big Trouble? Tyler tried his best to be understanding and supportive, but as we saw on Teen Mom OG, after a while he began to feel like he was part of her problem. They really, really struggled for at least two years after Nova was born. 6. Oh No By the fall of 2017 though, they were in a better place, and they thought the time would be right to try for another baby. She did get pregnant quickly, but she suffered a miscarriage. Tyler Baltierra: Check Out My Kind of Awful, Somewhat Phallic Tattoo of My Kid!

OK, so this is super awkward. Let’s just get that out of the way. We’re talking about a Teen Mom cast member with a new tattoo though, so you can always pretty much assume that it’s not going to be great. Just consider all the other tattoos these people have gotten over the years. Amber Portwood’s giant tattoo of baby Leah that covers an entire side of her torso, Jenelle Evans’ “YOLO” chest tattoo and that great big leopard … It’s just never good. But this time around, we’re talking about Tyler Baltierra’s brand new ink dedicated to his brand new daughter, precious little Vaeda . And boy, is it a doozy. So, OK, we all know Tyler has a thing for Batman, right? That’s why he chose to get this placed on his arm: Yes, that’s Batman holding a naked baby with Vaeda’s name underneath. It’s sure is something. A lot of people had a lot of things to say about this, so much that Tyler actually deleted this photo from his Instagram. So instead, let’s just check out what the fine Teen Mom fans over at Reddit had to say about this whole thing. “Typical Tyler,” one user commented. “The tattoo for his daughter is 90% about his Batman/hero complex and 10% about Vaeda.” Many people agreed that it seems like Tyler is Batman here, which is … a lot. Others — lots and lots of others — couldn’t get over the fact that Batman’s head looks exactly like a penis. “This is a dick,” one of those people explained. “This picture is of a dick.
