Watch the First 12 Minutes of Sound of My Voice: Brit Marling and Cult Jam

Festival darling Brit Marling burst onto the scene last summer with the sci-fi indie Another Earth (and will be seen in the upcoming fiscal thriller Arbitrage opposite Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon), but her turn as a mysterious cult leader in this April’s Sound of My Voice is the more impressive introduction to the charismatic up and comer. Hit the jump to watch the first 10 minutes of Sound of My Voice , courtesy of Fox Searchlight, and see for yourself. As seen in the opening 10 minutes, Sound of My Voice follows a couple (Nicole Vicius and Christopher Denham) as they infiltrate a secretive cult, intending to film a documentary exposing its leader as a fraud. But when they meet said leader — in the form of Marling’s Maggie, a young woman who claims to be from the future — they fall deeper in than they ever imagined they would. Sound of My Voice , directed by Zal Batmanglij, is the second of Marling’s Sundance 2011 pics to hit screens following Mike Cahill’s Another Earth ; both were co-written by Marling and screened to acclaim on the festival circuit. Shot on a tiny budget, SOMV pulls off a tremendous amount with very little in the way of the kind of resources available to most science fiction films, and like Another Earth it’s very much an intimate-scale indie that builds a greater sense for the world around it. But between the two — not to invite comparison, but it inevitably happens — SOMV allows Marling to flex her acting muscles with one of the more complex and layered female characters in to come along in a while. That alone will be worth the price of admission come April 27. Fox Searchlight, meanwhile, needs to figure out a way to push SOMV farther than it did Another Earth , which suffered from a lack of clarity in its marketing materials and opened to disappointing box office, even for an admittedly small-scale film with no stars. This first-10-minutes clip is a good start; not only does it draw you in to the plot of SOMV and give you a sense of Batmanglij’s shrewd directing style and the magnetic allure of Marling as Maggie, it also features a handful of “interactive” bonus features that click away to expand on ideas and concepts in the film, including viral clips like this . Michelle Obama Visits Tonight Show, Jay Leno Actually Eats Vegetables!

First Lady Michelle Obama cajoled Jay Leno into eating healthy foods for the first time in … oh, ever during her visit to the Tonight Show on NBC Tuesday. Promoting her “Let’s Move!” campaign to get kids excited about fitness and healthy diets, Michelle brought out some food to make an example out of Jay. As both Jay and Michelle joked repeatedly about his eating habits, Leno sampled apples, sweet potato fries and a pizza made with eggplant, peppers and zucchini. Could’ve used some sausage, but even Jay conceded it wasn’t bad. Michelle Obama Tonight Show Interview, Part II Michelle Obama encouraged Jay to dip his apple in honey made from beehives in the White House garden: “It will help it go down easier,” she said. “’White House honey’? That just sounds bad,” Leno replied, adding, “You know, with a different president that could mean a whole different thing.” In California to promote her initiative and attend a pair of fundraising events, Michelle also talked about her daughters and her husband’s reelection campaign. She even praised Mitt Romney singing at a recent event. Classy woman. Watch the first part of Michelle Obama’s Tonight Show interview below: Michelle Obama Tonight Show Interview, Part I

Kim Kardashian’s ‘Jam’ Video Leaks Online

Leaked portion finds newly married reality star flaunting her famous assets. By Gil Kaufman Kim Kardashian Photo: Getty Images There are a few things Kim Kardashian is known for: her near-ubiquitous reality TV presence, her recent lavish wedding to basketball player Kris Humphries … and for the rest, you just need to watch the first 54 seconds of the upcoming video for her debut single, “Jam (Turn It Up).” The opening of the Hype Williams-directed clip showed up on Perez Hilton’s site on Monday, and it’s pretty much what you might expect. The first image you see is Kardashian lying on the floor covered in sweat, or oil, as her name scrolls by in giant pink neon letters that fill the frame. Once the thumping disco beat produced by The-Dream kicks in, we are treated to an up-close-and-personal shot of the other thing Kardashian is best known for: her rear. As she crawls across the wet floor, the camera zooms in on Kardashian’s assets, sheathed in barely-there pink leather booty shorts. The beat keeps pumping as Kardashian slithers toward a giant spinning exhaust fan. Her face and hair dripping with greasy moisture, Kardashian mouths, “Turn me up, turn me up, turn me, turn me, turn me up,” while nearly subliminal still images of her tongue rolling over heavily made-up red lips pulse on the screen. And those are pretty much the only lyrics we hear, accompanied by more images of a dewy Kim K. rolling around on the floor and touching her hair. Near the end of the clip she explains, “I’m goin’ out tonight/ It’s going down/ Headed straight to the front of the line,” while conveniently rolling onto her back to give us a peek down her barely hanging-on dirty wifebeater to show off her other most famous lady parts. Kardashian debuted the song back in March on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, while also tweeting out some stills from the shoot, but she has not yet announced when her debut album will be released.

Olivia Munn’s Fat Twitter Cleavage

Former nerd princess Olivia Munn is really trying hard to get people to watch the first episode of her crappy new sitcom, I can’t imagine it lasting anymore than the one, here she is backstage at Letterman getting her fat cleavage ready for the show. If she’s going to feature juicy front meat like this on every episode I know I’ll be watching. Anyhow, this is why I love the Twitter , half assed celebrities showing off their fat breasts. Good times.

Where Will LeBron James Go? Silversun Pickups Drummer Has The Answer

‘It looks like he’s on his way to Miami, and who can blame him?’ Christopher Guanlao tells MTV News. By James Montgomery Lebron James Photo: Kelly Kline/ Getty Images Christopher Guanlao was “born and raised as a Lakers fan,” which means that, when he’s not playing drums for rock-radio mainstays Silversun Pickups , he’s also following the NBA pretty heavily. “A few weeks ago, we were playing a show in Orlando, and it was during Game 6 of the [NBA] Finals, and, as a Lakers fan, it was really frustrating, because I was only able to watch the first quarter,” Guanlao told MTV News on Thursday (July 8). “So I had my drum tech give me updates on the score in between songs. It was pretty intense, but luckily, the Lakers ended up winning.” And so, with the entire NBA seemingly focused on the future of superstar free-agent LeBron James — who will announce his choice of team Thursday night during an hour-long special on ESPN — we figured Guanlao was a pretty good guy to converse with about just where King James will end up. “It looks like he’s on his way to Miami, and who can blame him? If Miami’s willing to pay him, and [Chris] Bosh and [Dwyane] Wade are already there, it seems like a no-brainer,” Guanlao said. “For a while, I was thinking he might team up with [newly signed forward Carlos] Boozer in Chicago, but now I don’t know. And I think Cleveland might be out, because it seems like all the major free agents are gone. They haven’t made any big moves.” So, like much of the media, Guanlao predicts that James will break the hearts of Cleveland Cavaliers fans and bolt for the sunny climes of Miami. And even though he’s currently in London with the Pickups, he’s already making plans to watch James’ announcement — time zones be damned. “I’ve already discussed with some people that I have to watch it. And, it’s sort of amazing, because people are talking about it here. It’s basically just World Cup and ‘Where will LeBron sign?’ ” he laughed. “So, yeah, he’s making headlines all over the world. And I have to watch what happens.” And though, deep down, Guanlao wishes James would have re-signed with the Cavs (or even helped revive the fortunes of once-proud franchises like the Bulls and New York Knicks), he’s resigned himself to the fact that, next season, LBJ will more than likely be calling Miami home. And, as a Lakers fan, he’s already readying himself for the inevitable showdown between the two teams in the NBA Finals. Sort of. “I mean, with LeBron, Bosh and Wade, they’re probably the de facto Eastern Conference champs, but you’ve gotta play the games. There’s been plenty of these so-called ‘dream teams’ before, but they don’t always get over the hump,” he said. “So I’m sort of thinking [the Lakers] will play Miami in the Finals, but who knows? And even if they do, there’s no way it tops Lakers/Celtics. I mean, during Game 7 [of the Finals], I nearly had a heart attack.” Where do you want LeBron to end up? Let us know in the comments!
