Clay Aiken has gone all Randy Jackson on Rihanna. In an interview last night with Andy Cohen, the former American Idol runner-up was asked about the state of pop music. On a JetBlue flight from New York to Las Vegas yesterday, a group of passengers were forced to band together and subdue Clayton Osbon , a pilot who simply flipped out, behaving erratically, banging on the cockpit door and screaming out numbers. On his radio show this morning, meanwhile, Carson Daly referenced the incident. “Most of the people were on their way to some sort of security conference in Las Vegas,” he said. “It was like a bunch of dudes and well trained dudes… thank God.” The Voice host then added, laughing: “With my luck, it would be like… ‘this is the flight going to [the gay pride parade] in San Francisco,'” changing his tone to sound more effeminate and saying: “Uh, we’re headed down to Vegas for the floral convention.” The implication, naturally? Folks such as that would not have been able to bring down the JetBlue pilot . A few hours after making the comments, Daly Tweeted an apology: “This morning on my radio show I attempted to make fun of myself & offended others by mistake. I sincerely apologize.” Do you accept this apology? Do you think he should have made one?

A lot of people may not want to accept this, but Houston rappers really are the trillest in the game. Because they were on their independent grind long before many of us found out about them, Houston rappers have this sense of self that allows them to say and do whatever the hell crosses their mind, without giving two thoughts to what the rest of us might have to say. They are also very much about their money, and very aware of how to make, save and enjoy their bread. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule. But Slim Thug isn’t that exception. If anything he’s the textbook example. And while some of you may wonder what he’s been up to, he has a legion of loyal online and off-line followers who keep up with every joke, every lyric and every bit of advice. Bey looked fab in a pink, white and purple number and black Louboutins. Jay looked amazing as always in his signature Yankee fitted hate with a casual black and white outfit. Last year at this time, journalist Sebastian Junger and war photographer Tim Hetherington were on their way to seeing Restrepo win Best Documentary from the jury at Sundance. Today, the pair are Oscar nominees for their searing and critically acclaimed film about the war in Afghanistan. Which doesn’t mean the story is complete, of course: Junger and Hetherington will head back to Afghanistan in April.

Demonstrators kicked the Rolls-Royce as it travelled to the Royal Variety Performance in central London. White paint and bottles were thrown over the car and a window shattered. The Prince and Duchess were “unharmed” and continued with their engagement at the London Palladium, a Clarence House spokesman said. The attack occurred on Regent Street at the end of a day of protest that turned into a riot and left 10 police officers injured, six of them seriously. Matthew Maclachlan, who witnessed the attack on the Prince’s car, said: “The police cars at the front of the convoy drove straight into crowds at the top of Regent Street. They got trapped in that mob and it meant that Charles and Camilla were on their own further down the road except for a Jaguar travelling behind them. “Charles and Camilla’s car ran into such a concentration of people that it had to stop. It was stationary for a lot of the time, then would squeeze forward an inch. They had just one bodyguard in the car with them and a chauffeur. Melody Gersbach represented our country in the 2009 Miss International pageant where she was among the 16 semi-finalists. Melody Gersbach, together with her make-up artist Alden Orense, and driver were on their way to Naga City for the Miss Bicolandia beauty pageant when their Toyota Innova collided with a passenger bus at around 11:00 a.m. The three died on the spot. The driver of the bus identified as Wilson Pontillas has surrendered to the police in nearby Pili town.
