According to Deadline , she will take on Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Julián Castro, Tulsi Gabbard, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Joe Sestak, Elizabeth Warren and Marianne Williamson in the national 2020 Presidential Candidate Forum on LGBTQ Issues. The forum is presented by GLAAD, The Advocate, One Iowa, and The Gazette. It will be livestreamed from Coe College’s Sinclair Auditorium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Billy Gilman , the country artist and former contestant on The Voice , will perform the National Anthem for the event. The forum marks a historic moment, considering Ross will be the first transgender woman to host a presidential forum. This will also be the first presidential forum that will exclusively focus on LGBTQ+ issues, according to NewNowNext , especially at a moment when previous presidential debates have glossed over the subject. Ross will be joined by GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis on the stage and they will challenge the presidential candidates on pressing LGBTQ+ issues. During the forum, each candidate will have an opportunity to discuss their plan for improving queer and trans lives across America. The fact that Ross is hosting the event holds power, considering the current crisis of Black trans women being murdered at alarming rates . Just this week, The Advocate reported Ja’leyah-Jamar as the 19th trans woman to be killed this year. Eighteen of these murders have been Black trans women. Earlier this month, Bee Love Slater was another Black trans woman murdered. Her body was found burned beyond recognition, according to The Hill . Ross has consistently spoken up about trans rights and she is the founder and CEO of TransTech Social Enterprises , a trans-centered organization that helps empower folks in poverty with technical training that creates social impact and brings economic empowerment to marginalized communities. Although Ross didn’t explicitly say she would tackle trans murders at the presidential forum, she tweeted, “ I’m so READY & excited to be hosting the #LGBTQforum on Friday with @glaad, @OneIowa, @TheAdvocateMag and @gazettedotcom to ensure that presidential candidates are talking about issues important to LGBTQ voters! Stay tuned!” She also unapologetically called out presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Beto O’Rourke , who have yet to RSVP for the event. Although, later on she learned that Sanders had prior commitments. Source: Leon Bennett / Getty Tami Sawyer is currently running to be Memphis, Tennessee’s first Black woman mayor. After a campaign already loaded with controversy, the candidate has now been the victim of racist attacks. According to Commercial Appeal , images made their way to social media showing a campaign sign of Sawyer vandalized with racist and sexist comments. The sign was one of several other campaign signs at Berclair Chuch of Christ on 4536 Summe Avenue. The location is a polling place for early voting, which started Friday and will continue up until September 28. The vandalized campaign sign shows a smiling image of Sawyer with her “We can’t wait” slogan. However, the picture is defaced with a mustache and blackened front teeth covering Sawyer’s face. Then, written across her forehead were the words “ni**** bi***.” The incident comes after a weekend in which Sawyer apologized for past homophobic and ableist tweets that she posted to her personal account over the course of ten years. “The tweets you see from that time are buried. Some of them, I’m not going to apologize for: they were jokes that didn’t land, or things that, right now, are being taken wildly out of context,” Sawyer explained in a blog post. “There are other tweets there, though, that I definitely will apologize for. There are tweets that show a woman who, at that point, still hadn’t come to terms with her homophobia, who still wasn’t standing up and being a voice for all, regardless of ability.” According to WMC 5 , a list of her tweets included: – “I like that @SpikeLee goes back at retarded tweeters,” Sawyer wrote on July 2012. – “We had a teacher that was a closeted lesbian. Decided it was our duty to out her. She quit after a semester. #meangirls #pocprepchat” Sawyer tweeted in 2014. When someone argued that the person was a good teacher and their mom supported them, Sawyer replied, “Nope not us lol. No open homosexuality back then. I know two teachers run out.” – In July 2009, Sawyer also replied to another user witing “…what movies we got? no homo. lol.” – Sawyer made controversial statements about the police writing in 2010, “I have little admiration respect for the police. Protect & serve… Meh.” – In 2009, she also wrote, “Little white kids in scary movies freak me out. I’m glad I can’t have white babies. Cuz I might kill one thinking they’re damned.” Understandably, Sawyer isn’t the easiest candidate to defend, but of course, her past still doesn’t excuse the racist vandalism. Earlier this month, the Memphis Magazine cover was even criticized fo racist caricatures of Sawyer, depicting her with an exaggeated nose and lips. Her political fate will be determined during Memphis’ mayoral election, which will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Wednesday marked the 18th anniversary of 9/11, a day on which thousands of lives were lost, and America’s political climate was forever changed. It’s ironic given that your own brand of jeans is called ‘Good American,'” another echoed. Needless to say, Khloe’s tweet wasn’t exactly a hit with her fanbase. But hey, at least Khloe wasn’t the only one to step in it on America’s most somber day of memorial. Former Teen Mom OG star Farrah Abraham took her daughter to Ground Zero and forgot the difference between a terrorist attack and a purveyor of Buffalo chicken taquitos. “Okay, so we wanted to do, since it’s gonna be September 11, in honor of the Freedom Towers and observatory deck and everything, of 7-Eleven, we are going to do this,” she said on Instagram Live. “Wow, look at this guys,” she added, panning the camera across the 9/11 memorial. The talk show host was a guest on Thursday’s The View and was about her split and her ex’s love child with his alleged mistress Sharina Hudson. In between talking about her upcoming 11th season of her show, she told Sunni Hostin that it’s absolutely true that she’s splitting from Kevin, not “because of his infidelity,” but because he fathered a child outside their marriage. “Infidelity is one thing,” said Auntie Wendy. “A full baby is a whole other topic. A baby. I’m not changing Pampers. I want to be pampered. Get out of here.” Despite her words, Wendy made sure to emphasize that she doesn’t think her ex “Big Kev” is a bad guy and she’s sticking to her promise not to [overly] bash him in the media. “Kevin’s not a bad man. Big Kev. He’s not a bad man. You can’t just throw away 25 years and start talking recklessly about the other person — otherwise, what does that say about you? You know? It’s great to be able to lean on family in trying times. That’s exactly what Joy-Anna Duggar is doing in the wake of her heartbreaking miscarriage . This week Jana Duggar pulled a classic move to help Joy-Anna unwind and beat the blues. That’s right, it’s a Girls Day, Duggar sisters style. On Wednesday, Jana treated Joy-Anna to a salon session. Joy was sure to post the outing on her Instagram. The 21-year old had taken a moment of social media silence after the miscarriage but she’s recently resurfaced , showing fans that she’s hanging in there. Both of the girls look cheerful in Joy-Anna’s post. The sisters are smiling for the camera and sitting back in big, squishy salon chair. It would be hard not to feel perked up in a room so brightly lit and full of potted flowers. “She took me to lunch, nails, coffee, & shopping!” Joy exclaimed in the caption for her post. She included a few emoji to help illustrate the story of her day: a salad, nail polish, a coffee cup, and a shopping cart. Joy was clearly grateful for the good time, and thanked Jana and Anna in her caption for helping to make it all happen. “Thank you, @janamduggar for spoiling me today!” She captioned. “And thank you @annaduggar for keeping Gideon!” She added. One of the perks of a big, tight-knit family is the built-in daycare service. Finally, Joy closed out her post with some hashtags: #greattimegreattalks, #iloveyou, #shespoilsme These sure sound like the words of someone who had a wonderful day, and really needed it. Joy’s fans and friends got the same impression, with many writing in to voice their love and support. “Aww, Joy,” Jana wrote back, “You’re too kind.” “I love you so much!” she added, with a kissing and heart emoji. It sounds like thing went really well with Anna back at home, too. “Y’all need to do this more often!” Anna wrote in the comments. “Gideon is the happiest little boy ever!” she exclaimed. Another comment came from Lauren and Josiah Duggar’s joint account. “Sister dates are the best!” they captioned. “So glad y’all got to do this!” Josiah and Lauren have a better idea than most what Joy must be going through. The couple experienced a devastating miscarriage of their own last October. We’re so relieved to see Joy-Anna out on the town with loved ones. We know she’s been handling the aftermath of her miscarriage about as well as anyone could hope. Anyone would be depressed and heartbroken after losing a child. Joy clearly finds a lot of strength from her devout faith, but she’s fortunate to have a great support network in her family too. Jay Smith spent almost all of the month of July behind bars in ICE custody. He would still be there — had his boss not bailed him out in a stunning display of generosity. Now, Jay's ex-wife, Ashley Martson, is weighing in on Jay's arrest. (The arrest happened because he violated the Protection From Abuse order that she took out on him, after all) Ashley reveals that Jay's cheating goes above and beyond what's already public knowledge. She also says that his deportation is pretty much inevitable — and that she doesn't give a flying flip so long as he's out of her life. 1. Ashley is speaking out After Jay was arrested, spent weeks in ICE custody, and then got bailed out by his boss, Ashley is weighing in — and spilling everything she knows about his cheating. There was more of it than fans had realized. 2. She says Jay needed no help getting himself arrested Speaking to In Touch Weekly, Ashley explains: “It said right on the front, like you can’t discuss Ashley or this PFA on social media. And he did.” 3. Yep If you’re not allowed to discuss something, putting it in your Instagram Stories isn’t the best move. 4. But Jay was going to jail regardless “I did know they were coming on,” Ashley reveals. “It was on a Thursday. So they were coming on Monday to detain him because he was there illegally.” 5. Jay only hastened the inevitable “The PFA and the violation just got him arrested basically two days earlier than what he would have been,” Ashley adds. 6. Won’t part of her miss him when he’s gone? “Honestly, I don’t really care if he’s deported,” Ashley admits. It sounds like she’s experienced a lot of personal growth this year.
