According to Pittsburgh police, a woman parked her car on the Homestead Grays Bridge on Friday evening, left her three children inside of the vehicle, and proceeded to jump over the railing, killing herself. Stanlee Allyn Holbrook, 26, a Pennsylvania woman, jumped to her death off of the Homestead Grays Bridge around 7:20 p.m. on Friday. By the time emergency responders arrived on the scene, the woman had fallen into the Monongahela River; River Rescue recovered her body at about 9:15 p.m. and that is when she was declared dead.   A 14-year-old Georgia girl has made history by becoming the youngest person to be accepted into Spelman College. According to WSB-TV , Sydney Wilson was shocked when her father told her that he had gotten an email saying she would be attending the prestigious HBCU in the fall. “So, he calls me in and he says, ‘Look at the computer!’ So I looked at it, and I just melt,” Wilson said. “I was screaming and I was crying. Sydney has shared with us that she intends to enroll. We are excited to welcome her to campus in the fall, along with the rest of the incoming class,” Ingrid Hayes, vice president of enrollment management, said in a statement. Game of Thrones Series Finale DESTROYS Ratings Records!

If you’ve spent any time at all on the internet in the past 48 hours, then you’re probably aware that the series finale of Game of Thrones drew a decidedly … mixed reaction from viewers. But while many fans may not have been enthralled by the beloved series’ final installment — or its final season , for that matter — they tuned in from all corners of the world in record numbers. According to The Hollywood Reporter , an astonishing 13.6 million viewers watched the debut airing of the Thrones finale. Replays and early streaming bring that number to 19.4 million (and growing). Both numbers are records not only for GoT, but for HBO and premium cable in general. And it should come as no surprise that the record broken on Sunday night also belonged to Game of Thrones . The show’s penultimate episode also posted jaw-dropping numbers, drawing 12.5 million catching the first-run, and a total of 18.4 million tuning in over the course of the first night. Of course, for those involved in Thrones ‘ final season — from showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff all the way down to the lowliest charred peasant in King’s Landing — joy over this unprecedented ratings triumph is likely tempered by the negative response to the show’s conclusion. Here’s a number that HBO top brass probably won’t be shouting from the rooftops anytime soon: 48 percent. That’s the score for the GoT finale on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. Execs at the major networks wouldn’t lose much sleep over a show that drew in a record audience but received negative reviews from most critics. However, HBO is not CBS. The network’s bottom line is mostly reliant on subscriptions, which means its reputation is almost as important as the number of people tuning in for its original programming. Viewers shell out for HBO’s substantial monthly fee (It’s costlier than Netflix or Hulu in most markets.) because they feel the network offers quality programming they can’t get anywhere else There was always a fear among execs that the end of the war in Westeros would mean a substantial drop in subscriptions. The fact that so many viewers are feeling burned (pun fully intended) by the final season of HBO’s flagship show does not bode well for the network’s future, particularly as it gears up for competition from the highly-anticipated Disney Plus. In all likelihood, HBO will always be around in some form or another — but then again, they said that about the Iron Throne, too.   Blac Chyna is finally getting her solo spot in reality TV with her upcoming doc-series The Real Blac Chyna. According to Variety , the series will provide an unfiltered and revealing look at Chyna’s life and relationships. Chyna has had a pretty busy life in the past couple of years, including ups and downs with her exes and various lawsuits . The series will touch on some of these things along with her life as a mom to 6-year-old King Cairo and 2-year-old daughter Dream. This will be Chyna’s second time leading a reality series. Back in 2016, she co-starred with her ex Rob Kardashian on the E! reality show Rob & Chyna. “I am excited to set the record straight on my life, on my terms,” Chyna said. “On ‘The Real Blac Chyna,’ you will see my raw, edgy, unfiltered life. I’m thrilled to have Lemuel Plummer and Zeus Network as partners on this uncensored look into my world.” You can catch The Real Blac Chyna this summer via the influencer-driven subscription VOD service Zeus Network, which can also be accessed on their site , mobile apps and connected-TV apps on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Amazon App Store. The 80s-set spinoff of black-ish will follow Rainbow Johnson (played by Tracee Ellis Ross ) as she recalls her experience growing up in a mixed-race family. Things especially get tense when Rainbow’s parents Paul and Alicia move her and her siblings from a hippie commune to the suburbs. Questions about race take front and center for kids already trying to find their own identity in the world. Will Smith  is taking on the role of the genie, who was originally brought to life by Robin Williams , and in a new clip, he showcases his vocals for the track “Prince Ali.” The vivid visuals feature colorful dancers, animated animals and Will Smith in some extravagant threads. If all these things speak to the young Disney-centric kid in you, then you’ll definitely want to peep the show above. Be sure to check out Aladdin when it hits theaters on May 24!

Little People, Big World: Just How Fake Is It?!?

Little People, Big World is a reality television show. This is not exactly a groundbreaking statement. As such, however, the long-running TLC series has faced the same criticism and the same questions that have faced all other reality television entries on the small screen. Which is to say that many viewers are often wondering the following: Is the series scripted? This speculation was spurred on about three years ago when Jacob Roloff quit the show , resigning with a controversial Instagram post that he claimed at the time called out the program for exactly what it is: An example of total phoney baloney, according to Jacob. “Producers have to try to get us to follow the talking points,” he shared in this message, jumping way high on a pedestal and adding: “For me, noticing how the agenda of the crew doesn’t work well with the health & happiness of our family is what made me decide quite a while ago that I could not be a part of it as soon as I was able.” In this same post, Jacob referred to “storyline” and wrote of his loved ones: “They are the Roloff Characters and I have scarcely anything in common with them.” Years later, Jacob would sort of apologize for these remarks; or at least explain that he had since grown up and regretted making them. He’s now on great terms with these same loved ones, but the issue remains. The question hangs over the Roloffs. How much of what we see each week is natural and normal? And how much is produced or even flat-out written for Amy, Matt and their kids? “For the most part, we keep it real,” Amy Roloff told Us Weekly in a recent interview. “My kids are real. They’re grounded … Granted, here we’re filming three hours and then take the one moment that people will say, ‘Oh, it’s scripted.’ “I say, ‘No, it didn’t feel like the three hours that I was in.’ I like to think that we’re pretty honest, we’re pretty real – at least I am – sometimes to a fault.” In other words: The show is edited. And these edits may be done in such a way to emphasize a certain topic or disagreement in order to boost interest — such as Matt and Amy’s fight a couple weeks ago over the farm . But nothing you see is fake by any definition of that word. How has a show that started off as an idea for a one-off documentary lasted this long? How has it actually set a Guiness World Record ? Troy Dean Shafer Dies; Nashville Flipped Star Was 38

Very sad news today out of the television world. Troy Dean Shafer, best known as the contractor and host of DIY Network’s restoration series Nashville Flipped, passed away in his sleep on April 28. He was 38 years old. The reality star’s brother, Tim, told TMZ that there were no warning signs and no previous medical conditions that would have given anyone close to Shafer cause to be concerned. The family remains in shock over the heartbreaking news. This same gossip website reports that the coroner’s office in Erie, Pennsylvania had not yet performed an autopsy on Troy’s body — but a toxicology report will be finalized in the weeks ahead. Until then, those close to Shafer and those who worked with him will remain perplexed over what transpired. “The DIY Network family is sorry to hear about the passing of Troy Dean Shafer, a dedicated, driven entrepreneur and restoration expert who was admired by everyone who worked on the series,” the network has said in a statement, concluding: “We continue to extend our deepest condolences to Troy’s family and friends during this difficult time.” Shafer was laid to rest in a small ceremony last week. He graduated from Penn State University and had actually moved to Nashville to pursue a career in singing. Ultimately, though, he utilized his construction skills and pitched a home renovation show based in this beloved city, one that focused on homes from the 1800s and early 1900s. The series, Nashville Flipped, also starred Rob Kuskin and Sean Roberge and premiered in April of 2017. A year earlier, Shafer opened about his many TV offers but said many had been looking for a “character” — and that just wasn’t him. “They were looking for some over-the-top drama, and I get it. That makes good TV, and that’s the way a lot of house flipping shows are, but that’s definitely not me,” he told The Nashville Ledger at the time, adding: “I’m not dramatic, and even if I was, I wouldn’t go on TV and broadcast it, because the show may last one year, but I need this company to last. “I want to pass this down to kids. “I don’t want anyone thinking anything other than who I really am.” Shafter was partly popular due to this sort of attitude; simply put, he kept things real. Meanwhile, according to Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook, there’s a very good chance that drugs played a role in this unexpected passing. “Given the situation, we strongly suspect drugs were involved and a factor in his death,” Cook told Radar Online. However, he will not know for certain until the results of the toxicology report come back. Shafter is survived by his parents, Timothy and Janey Shafer; his brother Tim; as well as a niece, cousins, aunts and uncles – and his wife, Becky, who he married in 2014. May he rest in peace.
