David Foster and Katharine McPhee: Engaged!!!

In honor of July Fourth, David Foster and Katharine McPhee have some explosive news to share: They’re engaged! To be married! KABOOM! The American idol alum and veteran Scorpion actress revealed via Instagram on Tuesday that her 68-year-old boyfriend asked for her hand in marriage “at the top of this mountain in Anacapri” during the couple’s recent romantic rendezvous in Italy. In a pretty funny text exchange with a friend shared to her social media account, McPhee verified that the dark sky was full of stars when Foster proposed. She then joked that Foster said he was going to push her off a cliff… or see if she wanted to be his wife, eventually choosing the second option. How romantic, right? Check out the aforementioned conversation below: Foster has been married four times and has five children. His last marriage was to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Yolanda Hadid. McPhee, meanwhile, married Nick Cokas in 2008 and, get this… Foster played piano at this wedding reception!  The artist/actress and Cokas were married for six years until the the former filed for divorce from her producer husband in May of 2014. The former couple’s divorce was finalized in 2016. There was talk that McPhee cheated on Cokas with a married man , but whatever. We’re not here to relitigate the past. We’re here to acknowledge a hopefully bright future for McPhee and Foster, who first crossed paths back in 2006 during McPhee’s run on American Idol. McPhee shared a diamond ring emoji on Twitter in recognition of this life milestone, as fans wonder about the size and shape of her actual ring. “The ring is very elegant and large,” an insider tells E! News, adding: “They are both very happy and over the moon excited. Katherine has been wanting this for a while now. David has been planning the engagement, but has kept it very secretive. “Only a few family members knew about his plans. David’s children are all very accepting of Katherine now, and are very happy for their Dad.” There has been chatter about McPhee and Foster being a romantic item for years, but they only went public with their relationship last year . There is, of course, a giant age difference between the 34-year old and 68-year old, but David’s daughter Sara doesn’t seem to care. “We love Katharine McPhee. We love our dad. We want our dad to be happy. We don’t care who he dates…don’t really care how old they are,” she said to E! News in the past. We agree! Congrats to the couple!

Ami Brown Really Does Have Cancer, Discovery Channel Confirms

An executive at the Discovery Channel has a very simple and very pointed message for certain fans of Alaskan Bush People. And that messages goes something like this: FOR SHAME! Speaking to Radar Online, the network’s Executive Vice President, Laurie Goldberg, opened up for the first time this week about Ami Brown’s cancer diagnosis. She and her loved ones admitted in July of 2017 that the long-time reality star had been diagnosed with a very serious form of lung cancer and that her prognosis was grim at best. Since then, various members of this famous family have kept fans apprised of Ami’s status on occasion, with the latest update being an extremely sad one: Brown has reportedly returned to the hospital . But this doesn’t mean all hope is lost, Goldberg says: “She is going to L.A. for a routine three month check-up but is optimistic and surrounded by nothing but love,” she also told Radar. In this same conversation with the aforementioned celebrity gossip website, Goldberg expressed consternation that anyone out there has been doubting Ami’s diagnosis. Do these critics really think producers and/or the Browns themselves would lie about such a thing? “Ami’s battle with cancer is very real,” Goldberg emphasis, taking those who disbelieve her to task and adding: “It is just disgusting that anyone would say her cancer is not real or that it was created for the show.” We can’t entirely fault viewers for having a few questions, of course. Reality TV in general is known for conjuring up storylines, as Jacob Roloff very recently came out and explained in a book written by this Little People, Big World star. But still. We’re talking about cancer here and we would never for a second wonder whether Ami and her children were actually lying about such a serious illness. “It’s in both lungs, in the middle and sides of the lungs,” Ami’s husband, Billy Brown, said last year. He said the cancer had been labeled as stage 3B, which is very close to the worst possible diagnosis, and continued at the time: “It hasn’t traveled to any other organs, but that’s what they’re saying is next. Any time we talk to anybody, it’s bad news.” Alaskan Bush People will be returning for Season 8, however, and we hear that Ami may still be part of the cast. “The fans will get to see her journey alongside the rest of the family on the upcoming season,” Goldberg previews, adding: “There is definitely no drama between her and anyone in the family – they love her very much and would do anything for her.” View Slideshow: Alaskan Bush People: 13 Secrets They Don’t Want You to Know No premiere date for Season 8 has been announced just yet. Pink Sings National Anthem: Grade It!

Super Bowl 52 pitted the New England Patriots against the Philadelphia Eagles. But music fans went into Sunday night less focused on the battle on the field and more focused on the battle within Pink's immune system. That's because the beloved singer fell ill the week prior to the biggest performance of her life, taking to midfield prior to the big game in order to belt out the Star-Spangled Banner. It was unclear at times whether Pink would even be able to go through with the performance. But go through with it she did, alright! The Grammy-winner didn't ascend into the air, as she so often does while singing a song in front of a major audience. Instead, she donned star-shaped earrings, a silver outfit and did the country's theme song proud. Odds in Las Vegas set the over/under on the time of Pink's rendition at two minutes, with many assuming she would be unable to last that long due to the aforementioned sickness. “Ummm. I’m singing the national anthem and the EAGLES ARE PLAYING?!?!?! IS THIS FOR REAL?!?!?!THATS WHASSUP!!!!!!!!” Tweeted the Philadelphia fan prior to the game, hilariously adding: “Shtjtkd widnamc ckamcnsnzncbx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tom Petty: Cause of Death Revealed

The very sad and unfortunate news is in: The official cause of death for music legend Tom Petty has been revealed. The veteran artist passed away in early October , with his manager making the announcement at the time that shook millions of fans. “We are devastated to announce the untimely death of our father, husband, brother, leader and friend Tom Petty,” said Tony Dimitriades, adding: “He died peacefully at 8:40 p.m. local time (0340 GMT Tuesday) surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.” Petty was 66 years old. Now, nearly five months after Petty died, the results of his autopsy have been made public. In a statement posted on the late singer’s website Friday night, his family said the beloved musician had been using a number of medications, including opioid pain medication Fentanyl. He ultimately died of “multi-system organ failure” caused by “mixed drug toxicity,” according to the aforementioned autopsy report, released on Friday by the Los Angeles County Coroner. During an examination on October 3, the medical examiner found fentanyl, oxycodone, temazepam, alprazolam, citalopram, acetylfentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl. Petty was discovered to be suffering from coronary artery atherosclerosis and emphysema. “Our family sat together this morning with the Medical Examiner – Coroner’s office and we were informed of their final analysis that Tom Petty passed away due to an accidental drug overdose as a result of taking a variety of medications,” reads the family statement. It was signed by widow Dana and daughter Adria. Petty’s loved ones went on to explain that the linchpin to Petty’s demise was a fractured hip.  The singer insisted on touring for 53 concert dates with this difficult condition, which only grew over time and which caused him to take the medications listed on the examiner’s findings.  “On the day he died, [Petty] was informed his hip had graduated to a full-on break and it is our feeling that the pain was simply unbearable and was the cause for his overuse of medication,” the family continued in its statement. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office finished an autopsy on the rocker in October, but the official cause of death required further investigation at the time. Said his family on Friday: “We knew before the report was shared with us that he was prescribed various pain medications for a multitude of issues including Fentanyl patches and we feel confident that this was, as the coroner found, an unfortunate accident.” Fentanyl, it should be noted, is the same opiate that killed Prince in April . The Centers for Disease Control approximates that fentanyl is 80 times as potent as morphine and hundreds of times more potent than heroin. It is classified as a Schedule II drug by the federal government and its medical uses are normally pain management following surgery or for chronic pain. Petty’s relatives acknowledged these facts in its statement. As a family we recognize this report may spark a further discussion on the opioid crisis and we feel that it is a healthy and necessary discussion and we hope in some way this report can save lives. Many people who overdose begin with a legitimate injury or simply do not understand the potency and deadly nature of these medications. Concluded this lengthy note, which was shared on Facebook: On a positive note we now know for certain he went painlessly and beautifully exhausted after doing what he loved the most, for one last time, performing live with his unmatchable rock band for his loyal fans on the biggest tour of his 40 plus year career. He was extremely proud of that achievement in the days before he passed. We continue to mourn with you and marvel at Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ incredible positive impact on music and the world. And we thank you all for your love and support over the last months. We generally don’t hear much in the way of good news coming from the troubled marriage of Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott, and today is no exception. The tabloid obsession with the couple began back in 2013 amidst allegations that McDermott had cheated on Spelling with a woman named Emily Goodhand. The interest hasn’t let up in the years since, despite the very real possibility that Goodhand doesn’t exist , and Tori and Dean made the affair up for publicity. Fortunately for the Spelling-McDermotts, 2017 has been loaded with legitimate misfortune, thus sparing them the burden of having to pretend their lives suck. First, Tori and Dean went broke and were forced to suffer the indignity of selling their lavish mansion in Calabasas and relocating to a rental home in considerably less-posh Encino. That was followed by Tori burning her hand by falling and landing on a hibachi at Benihana, which is a situation that it’s okay to laugh at, because she wasn’t seriously injured. If you thought that was the end of Tori and Dean’s misfortune, you don’t know the McDermotts! It turns out creditors aren’t the only ones Tori and Dean have been evading while taking trips and going on shopping sprees. According to his ex-wife, Mary Jo Eustace, Dean hasn’t been paying child support for his teenage son from his first marriage. So not only is she suing Dean, Mary Jo is also giving interviews in which she claims that her ex recently confessed that he regrets leaving her form Spelling back in 2006. “A year and a half ago, Dean confessed to me that he had made a mistake and he wondered what his life would be like if he had he stayed with me,” Eustace recently told UK tabloid The Daily Mail. “He said, ‘Do I love Tori? Yeah. But I’ve thrown my life away.’ It was the most bizarre conversation ever. It made me feel irritated. I don’t want any more drama. It was crazy, extreme behavior.” Eustace has a much healthier relationship with the truth than either Tori or Dean, so we’re inclined to believe her. We’re not sure what her endgame is here, but we’re guessing she wouldn’t mind receiving a long overdue child support check from Mr. McDermott. Take the hint, Dean!

We’re very sorry. We know you don’t want to hear any more about Kate Gosselin and Jon Gosselin. Trust us: we don’t want to write about them, either. But the Former Couple Who Never Seems to Entirely Go Away is back in the news and, based on this latest report, may continue to be in the news for several weeks to come. Because an ugly custody battle is allegedly brewing between the parents of eight. According to Hollywood Life, Jon Gosselin actually has his life together now and, as a result, he wants to spend a lot more time with his children. Kate and Jon, of course, are the parents to 13-year old sextuplets and 18-year old twins. They formerly anchored Jon and Kate Plus 8 on TLC until a pretty nasty break-up and subsequent divorce prompted the cancelation of that reality series. Kate now has primary custody of the kids, so much so that she stars in Kate Plus 8 along with the kids.  HOWEVER… “[Jon’s] doing everything he can to win their next custody battle,” an insider tells the aforementioned website, adding; “He’s totally overhauled his life, he’s even back working a regular job again.” It’s about time, some might say. Jon worked as a DJ and even a stripper for awhile after becoming single, clearly suffering through some kind of mid-life crisis. But he’s now working as an I.T. administrator and earning “decent pay,” the Hollywood Life source claims, expounding as follows: “He knows that’s what he has to do to get his kids back. He’s really hopeful that this will help him get more time with his kids.” Controversy has arisen of late over Kate’s treatment of Collin. The young teenager has been confirmed to have some kind of behavioral issue and has been sent away… somewhere. But no one close to the Gosselins will say what’s going on with him and fans continue to be concerned that Collin has been practically kicked out of the family . “The way Kate is handling things with Collin breaks Jon’s heart, but he has no say,” a source previously told Hollywood Life. “She controls everything, it’s her way or the highway when it comes to the kids, including Collin.” Jon and Kate don’t have much contact these days, but when they do… well… THINGS GET UGLY . We can’t imagine the sort of vitriol that will be spat back and forth if these two end up on opposite sides in court again. Okay, fine, we can imagine.
