Cold blooded … Mom Accused Of Killing Her Toddler Smiles And Winks At Judge A Washington woman who’s accused of drowning her 2-year-old and slicing the throat of her teen daughter was recently seen smiling and winking at a judge during her hearing for aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder charges. KHOU Houston reports: Notes left by a mother accused of drowning her 2-year-old and cutting the throat of her teenage daughter recounted the attack and said the “baby didn’t suffer as she fell asleep in the water,” according to an arrest warrant affidavit unsealed Tuesday. The document was released as a Clatsop County Circuit Court judge accepted not guilty pleas from Jessica Smith to charges of aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder. The murder charge could bring the death penalty if Smith is convicted. Smith, 40, of Goldendale, Washington, appeared in court via video and smiled on several occasions during the 20-minute hearing. She nodded and winked when asked whether she understood that she would remain in jail at least until a Sept. 30 hearing. Authorities have said Smith checked into the Surf Sand Resort in Cannon Beach on July 29 under her own name with her two daughters in tow. Three days later, a cleaning crew found the drowned body of the 2-year-old girl. The still-breathing teenager was covered in blood with her throat cut. According to the affidavit, Smith gave her teenage daughter a double dose of a sleeping agent, then used a numbing compound on her neck before her throat was slashed. Smith considered cutting the toddler’s throat, her 13-year-old daughter told an Oregon State Police detective, but chose to drown the child instead. The state medical examiner, Dr. Karen Gunson, told The Oregonian that the 2-year-old had been heavily sedated with an over-the-counter antihistamine. Gunson told the newspaper that asphyxiation by drowning was the main cause of the 2-year-old’s death and the drug was a “contributing cause.” SMH….this woman is sick.

These files compiled in this video contains audio of St. Louis police dispatch from the date of August 9th 2014, the day Mike Brown was murdered by a Ferguson PD officer. We have released these tapes to the public so as they are able to get a sense of the atmosphere the moments before and the hours after Mike Brown was shot. It’s pretty long (nearly two hours of audio) but at around the 11:26 time mark, you can hear the dispatcher being confused about an alleged shooting she is hearing about on the news that Ferguson PD is reporting no knowledge of. White Students Hit Black Student In The Face With Bleach-Filled Balloon A wave of hate-motivated attacks against minority University of Texas students that began last fall is now surfacing again as young black male was recently hit in the face with a bleach-filled balloon by white students who were allegedly aiming to “whiten” with the harmful chemical. via Think Progress On Wednesday, University of Texas student Bryan Davis, who is African American, was struck by a bleach-filled balloon while he was walking to visit a friend in a neighborhood populated by UT students. This attack appears to be part of a chain of similar assaults targeting students of color on the Texas campus. Last October, Austin police launched an investigation into four similar attacks on UT students, all of which targeted Asian or African Americans. The October incidents sparked a wave of protests on Texas’ campus. Davis told the Burnt Orange Report’s Ben Sherman that he doesn’t “feel safe walking around West Campus by myself” after the incident, and worried that incidents such as this one can poison the entire campus. “I talked to my sister an hour ago,” said Davis. “She’s a freshman at Xavier University. I always tease her about how she should come to UT, but when I was talking to her on the phone about it, I was talking about why that was no longer a good idea, for her physical safety. UT is supposed to have the atmosphere of the entire city, it’s supposed to be progressive and forward-thinking, and here we are with hate crimes still taking place.” Sherman also speculates that the purpose of the bleach bombs may be to target students of color with a chemical normally used to “whiten” clothes. ‘The Raven’ actress reveals to MTV News she spends ‘a healthy amount of time in the makeup chair — though not as long as Spock.’ By Kara Warner Alice Eve Photo: MTV News Much like the lock and key that all “Star Trek” plot details were kept under during filming the first time around, the same goes for the untitled “Trek” sequel . We know which key players are back in place, alongside new additions Benedict Cumberbatch, as the unidentified villain , and actress Alice Eve, but we don’t know exactly how the sequel’s story will unfold. When MTV News caught up with Eve recently during the press day for her upcoming period thriller “The Raven,” we attempted to find out a few more details about what character she might be playing in asking how long she spends in the makeup chair each day before filming. “I’m a healthy amount of time in the makeup chair — though not as long as Spock,” Eve revealed. “We were filming until very late last night, and I know that’s all I can say. It’s a top-secret operation; it’s like a war.” Although Eve is new to the “Trek” family, two of her co-stars are very familiar faces, Cumberbatch and Simon Pegg, with whom Eve worked on “Starter for 10” and “Big Nothing,” respectively. When asked how the reunion has been, Eve broke out into a wide grin, saying, “Both of them I’ve worked with before, and it’s a true, true pleasure to see them again. Really fun.” Eve went on to tease that her fans will be surprised by “a few things” about her performance in the film and re-emphasized the fact that she’s having a blast on set. “I’m having a lot of fun, and it’s a very special experience to be on J.J.’s [Abrams] movies,” she said. “He’s a real good leader.” The British beauty has equated the atmosphere on set with going to camp or school. “When there’s a group of people who you can spend time with and work with and get to know, a real good experience, it’s kind of like going back to university or something, when everyone has got the same objective,” Eve told MTV News . “There’s a lot of energy, and it’s a nice thing to be a part of that group. That’s the thing that excites me most about it. But when you add pre-existing health problems into the mix it can get even more difficult for the finalists to make it to the stage twice a week. According to TMZ, one of the leading contenders on this year’s show, acoustic strummer Phillip Phillips, was rushed to a medical facility on Thursday morning for emergency treatment. Sources said Phillips, who suffers from kidney stones, was complaining of intense pain in his abdomen, but it is unclear what ailed him. TMZ claimed that someone close to Phillips suspected it could be gallstones. Phillips’s dad later reportedly told TMZ that his son has had 5 different procedures to remove kidney stones — including one in January — and that his boy is determined to stay in the competition, putting off any procedure for now. The Dave Matthews-esque footstomper was safely put through on Thursday night, when amiable Jeremy Rosado was sent home. If Phillips does stick it out, he wouldn’t be the first “Idol” favorite to battle illness on the show. Back in 2010, eventual runner-up Crystal Bowersox rebounded from a hospital stay and thoughts of throwing in the towel, with one of that season’s highlights. Bowersox, a diabetic, was told that she would be eliminated from the show if she didn’t not make it to that week’s performance.
