Richard Pryor and Marlon Brando: Yup, They Had Sex!

Richard Pryor died in 2005. Marlon Brando died in 2004. Yet the former iconic comedian and legendary actor are in the news this week for one unexpected reason: They apparently had sex… with each other! This surprising connection was first mentioned by Quincy Jones in a wide-ranging interview with Vulture, during which the music producer said the following of Brando: “He was the most charming motherf-cker you ever met. He’d f-ck anything. Anything! “He’d f–k a mailbox. James Baldwin. Richard Pryor. Marvin Gaye.” Naturally, such a statement got the Internet talking and wondering about the film star, who won two Academy Awards and is considered by some to be the best actor of all-time. Just a few hours after this quote went viral, though, Pryor’s widow came out and put an end to the speculation. She actually confirmed the sexual relationship! Said Jennifer Lee to TMZ when asked about the rumored dalliance: “It was the ’70s! Drugs were still good, especially quaaludes. If you did enough cocaine, you’d f-ck a radiator and send it flowers in the morning.” Well… okay then! Pryor’s widow added that Pryor would find it hilarious that Jones spilled these beans if he were alive today and that he had no shame about his bisexuality. Pryor and Lee were married in the early 1980s and again in 2001; they were together up until the stand-up’s death in 2005. Altogether, Pryor was married to five different woman and had seven children. Brando, meanwhile, was married three times and fathered 11 children. They may have carried on an affair with each other at one point, but they very much got around overall. That much is clear. Back in 1976, speaking to a French journalist, Brando happily opened up about his sexuality. “Like a large number of men, I, too, have had homosexual experiences, and I am not ashamed,” he said at the time, adding: “I have never paid much attention to what people think about me. But if there is someone who is convinced that Jack Nicholson and I are lovers, may they continue to do so. “I find it amusing.”  So it sounds like he would also be amused by Jones telling the world about his banging of Pryor. To put this in context, for those unfamiliar with Richard Pryor and Marlon Brando and the levels of fame each achieved back in the 1960s and 1970s: This news would be akin to learning that Jerry Seinfeld had slept with Tom Hanks. Hence the reaction across social media in response to Pryor’s widow’s admission. The confirmation even reached actor Don Cheadle, for instance, who joked on Twitter when asked if he had slept with any male celebrities: “nah. that’s not my thing. but if it was, yeah, brando back in the day could get it.” In his chat with Vulture, meanwhile, Jones also said he knows who killed John F. Kennedy and said he once dated Ivanka Trump. In other words: this Pryor/Brando bombshell may have been the least interesting part of his Q&A!

Richard Pryor’s Widow Confirms That He Did In Fact Canoodle Corleone Cannolis With Marlon Brando

Image via John Engstead/John Kobal Foundation/Getty Richard Pryor’s Widow Confirms He Had Sex With Marlon Brando Today is crazy as hell. Earlier we reported on Quincy Jones ‘ explosive Vulture interview where he claims that “The Godfather” actor Marlon Brando had sex with James Baldwin, Marvin Gaye and comedian Richard Pryor. Well, now TMZ is reporting that Pryor’s widow can confirm for a fact that this is not a case of Quincy Jones stirring the rumor mill. She says Pryor was indeed having sex with Brando. Jennifer, Richard’s ex wife, says Richard wouldn’t be ashamed one bit of what Quincy said. She says the icon was very open about the fact that he was bisexual when speaking to friends and family. She even says that he chronicled his sexual trysts with men in several diaries that will be published this year. Here’s what Jennifer says explicitly about the Brando affair: “It was the ’70s! Drugs were still good, especially quaaludes. If you did enough cocaine, you’d f*** a radiator and send it flowers in the morning.” *blinking white man.GIF* The thought of Marlon Brando telling Richard Pryor to bust that bussy open has me on the floor. — king crissle (@crissles) February 7, 2018 More reactions. Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist to Open 69th Venice Film Festival

The world premiere of international political thriller The Reluctant Fundamentalist will launch the Venice Film Festival August 29th. The film is based on the best-selling novel of the same name about a young Pakistani man chancing corporate success on Wall Street, but becomes embroiled in a conflict between his American Dream, a hostage crisis, and the enduring call of his family’s homeland. The feature will screen out of competition stars Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson, Kiefer Sutherland, Liev Schreiber, Martin Donovan, Om Puri, Shabana Azmi, Haluk Bilginer and Meesha Shafi.  “The festival’s opening night will feature a film that provides much food for thought. It is a choice that intends to highlight the growing role of female creativity in all spheres of culture and contemporary society,” said Alberto Barbera in a statement. “Mira Nair has made ??an exemplary film adaptation of a novel that deals with the topical issue of fundamentalisms of any kind or nature. With great sensitivity, subtlety and remarkable sense of cinematic narrative, the director is never reluctant to take a difficult stand, inspired by profound ethical and moral reasons that, although choosing to face reality, still reject its compromises and aberrations.” This is Nair’s fifth visit to the Venice Film Festival. She won the festival’s top prize, the Golden Lion for Monsoon Wedding in 2001. The 69th Venice Film Festival runs August 29 – September 8. The Reluctant Fundamentalist synopsis courtesy of the Venice Film Festival : Student demonstrations are raging in Lahore, as young Pakistani professor Changez Khan and a journalist, Bobby Lincoln, share a cup of tea and conversation.  Princeton-educated Changez tells Lincoln of his past as a brilliant business analyst on Wall Street. He talks of the glittering future that lay before him and the beautiful and sophisticated Erica whom he was set to share that future with.   But then 9/11 changes everything. Attitudes shift dramatically – his very name and face rendering him suspect.  Returning to his homeland and the family to whom he is very close, he takes up a post as lecturer at the local university, a hotbed of radicalism and the new militant academia.   The collegial pretense of the meeting in a Lahore teahouse, between Lincoln and Changez, slowly gives way to why the unlikely pair has gathered on a summer day — another professor has been kidnapped by extremists, and the clock is ticking toward a deadline for his execution. Changez’s family is being harassed and is in real danger. Bobby is there to listen, with an agenda of his own.  As it is revealed that Lincoln is in the lions’ den with the CIA, we also learn that he has a personal stake in the immediate crisis at hand. Taking us through the culturally rich and beguiling worlds of New York, Lahore and Istanbul The Reluctant Fundamentalist is an exploration of prejudice and the phenomenon of globalization that is both exhilerating and deeply unsettling.

Is Don Corleone Funny?

“Don Corleone cuts a fearsome figure through the mafia underworld, yet Brando also makes him into an emotionally needy butterball. When Bonasera makes the gesture of friendship (an awkward ‘Be my friend?’), the Don waves off the request. He knows how to play hard to get. It’s an odd juxtaposition, and a funny one at that. Without Brando’s levity, the dark sadness of the scene might have become unbearable. With it, the audience learns that The Godfather won’t limit itself in scope. Any emotion, any subject, anything is fair game.” [ Splitsider ]
