Jon Hamm, Jennifer Aniston among the deliciously despicable characters up for Best On-Screen Dirtbag award. By Kevin P. Sullivan Jennifer Aniston in “Horrible Bosses” Photo: Warner Bros. While the MTV Movie Awards are all about celebrating the best from the past year in film, they’re also about shining a light on the very worst. This year, we’re introducing a brand-new category for all the deliciously despicable characters: Best On-Screen Dirtbag. We’ve broken down all the nominees in the category below, but it’s up to you to vote one member of this detestable quintet to the podium to collect his or her Golden Popcorn. We will all find out who the worst of the worst is this Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET live on MTV. Bryce Dallas Howard – “” If an on-screen dirtbag does his or her job properly, naturally the audience will beg for some comeuppance. Without a doubt, none of this year’s love-to-hate-’em nominees got it worse than Bryce Dallas Howard’s horribly racist Miss Hilly. Apparently, revenge is a dish best served in the form of a chocolate pie made out of human feces. Colin Farrell – ” Horrible Bosses ” Even if it weren’t for the cocaine addiction and his propensity for firing those that “creep him out,” Colin Farrell’s character in last summer’s hit comedy “Horrible Bosses” may have ended up on the short list for On-Screen Dirtbag for that comb-over alone. Sometimes a poor choice of hairstyle can be just as bad as a person’s behavior. Jennifer Aniston – ” Horrible Bosses ” There’s nothing wrong with a small workplace crush as long as human resources has been notified, you keep your conversations work-appropriate, and you don’t spray your co-worker’s pants with water in order to see the outline of his junk. Jennifer Aniston’s character in “Horrible Bosses” did not heed any of these rules as she aggressively tried to seduce her dental hygienist, played by Charlie Day. Jon Hamm – ” Bridesmaids ” Sure, he might seem like a great guy. He’s rich, and hell, he looks like Jon Hamm, but Ted is not a man you want to be around. He does that thing that can only be described by Kristen Wiig as she drags that back of her limp hand across her face. It’s not pretty. Oliver Cooper – ” Project X ” Sometimes dirtbags are funny. One of our nominees this year, Oliver Cooper of “Project X,” has the distinct honor of earning nominations for both Best Comedic Performance and Best On-Screen Dirtbag. And that’s the beautiful balance that Costa strikes. Yes, he’s going to turn up the speed on the treadmill that you’re running on, but you’ll probably laugh about it later. Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! The 21st annual MTV Movie Awards air live this Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET. Ok, so a Lars von Trier movie is hardly a light-hearted romp full of belly laughs and feel-good moments. But the Danish director has done a few things to make nudity fans smile- he pioneered the use of unsimulated sex in arthouse movies with The Idiots (1998), his production company Zentropia was the first to produce both mainstream films and hardcore porn, and he’s gotten Kirsten Dunst , Bryce Dallas Howard , Emily Watson , and Charlotte Gainsbourg to get nude on film. So to celebrate the long-awaited theatrical debut of Melancholia (2011), join Skin Central as we fast-forward to the good parts of this arthouse auteur’s oeuvre (try saying that three times fast)…after the jump!
Danish director Lars von Trier is known for being an, ahem, rather unpleasant man- he refuses to fly, he psychologically tortures his leading ladies ( Nicole Kidman famously once asked him why he hates women), and recently he was banned from the Cannes Film Festival for saying he “understood” Hitler. But you gotta give the man one thing- he finally got Kirsten Dunst to bare her Kirsten cunst. We reported earlier this year that Dunst makes her full-frontal debut in Von Trier’s latest gloom-and-doom masterpiece, Melancholia – you can even catch a faraway glimpse of her totally nude and lying on a rock in the film’s trailer (seen at left). In advance of Melancholia ‘s stateside debut, Kirsten was interviewed by Elle magazine about her experiences filming the movie. Snatchurally, the subject of nudes came up: One of the surprises about Melancholia is Kirsten’s curvaceous body. She is naked in several scenes and as Von Trier refuses any form of retouching or airbrushing, surely it caused some anxiety? ‘I trusted everyone and the lighting was beautiful. I didn’t work out beforehand, it was all very natural. I don’t have any real body issues. I never really overeat, I shed weight in the summer, put it on in the winter and yes, I do have big boobs. People don’t realize because I cover up a lot, but they are there. Big boobs.’ Oh, we’ve realized for years, Kirsten- ever since that skintillating nip slip of yours in Crazy/Beautiful (2001). In other Von Trier nudes, the director has just announced his next project, the titillatingly titled Nymphomaniac . The movie will depict “the sexual evolution of a woman from birth to age 50″, and the always-tactful Dane has already confirmed that “As a cultural radical I can’t make a film about the sexual evolution of a woman from zero to 50 without showing penetration.” Oh, Lars. You’re a kook, but you’re our kind of kook. Members can see all the breast scenes from Lars von Trier ‘s movies, like Bryce Dallas Howard in Manderlay (2005) and Charlotte Gainsbourg in Antichrist (2009)- right here at MrSkin.com!
You’ll note that the new trailer for The Help calls Kathryn Stockett’s source material a “sensational bestseller.” That may be, but not much else is screaming “sensation” here: Viola Davis’s one-note dignity, Bryce Dallas Howard’s adversarial prissiness, and Emma Stone’s smiley do-gooder shtick aren’t providing much in the way of originiality. But maybe I’m just cynical; check out the new international trailer and let’s hash this out.
The trailer for The Help worried us with its Blind Side y condescension, but the new poster for the film presents Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Emma Stone, and Bryce Dallas Howard (who looks a lot like Ellie Kemper here) in a more positive, yellow-and-purple sorta light. Watch and judge.
