Pebbles Said Chilli Had An Affair With Music Mogul L.A. Reid TLC’s Chili says she NEVER slept with L.A. Reid – the ex-husband to the band’s former manager Pebbles – and says that all the rumors of her having an affair with the music mogul behind Pebbles back are pure lies. Perri Reid aka Pebbles – TLC’s former manager – sued Viacom for $40 million claiming she was defamed by how TV movie “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story” portrayed her. Pebbles explained in docs that the film showed her “as a conniving and dishonest business woman who hoodwinked three innocent girls and exploited their talent for her own personal gain.” Further, she said that contrary to what the film showed … she never controlled the bands lawyers and always paid the girls what they were due. Viacom fired back at the allegations they defamed Pebbles. In the docs they state that based on their knowledge … the portrayal of Pebbles was accurate and they did not act with malice when making the film. They demanded her $40 million dollar lawsuit be dismissed. T-Boz and Chili were then dragged into the lawsuit recently over the VH1 movie, and their former manager Pebbles filed docs stating she was going to depose the women and grill them about the film and how they portrayed her in the movie. Then on September 23rd, Chili’s deposition in the case was filed in which she states under oath she NEVER had an affair with Pebbles then-husband L.A. Reid. Pebbles has publicly stated following the release of the film that she believes Chili was sleeping with her then-husband music mogul L.A. Reid behind her back. The former TLC manager told Wendy Williams that she never wanted to believe it for years but she now says she believes it to be true, but said she wouldn’t reveal why she thinks this to be accurate. Pebbles also said that she thinks T-Boz and Left Eye were aware of the alleged affair. However, according to Chili’s sworn testimony under oath, she says she never slept with Pebbles ex-husband. She explains that she heard the rumors about her and L.A. for years but never thought much of it because it was so crazy. She says that the story of Pebbles walking in on her in bed with L.A. is so ridiculous because she was never once alone with L.A. at his home. Chili says that following the passing of Left Eye, T-Boz, Pebbles and her became somewhat close again. She explains that Pebbles and her had a conversation about everything around that time. During the conversation the topic of her sleeping with L.A. came up and she told Pebbles straight up it wasn’t true and none of the girls had been intimate with him whatsoever. The singer says she asked Pebbles if she believed her and she told Chili she did. Then Chili claims the band’s former manager apologized to her for things she had done over the years. Chili says that if anyone should be suing it should be her filing a lawsuit against Pebbles for defaming her character in the press by insinuating she slept with L.A. Reid. The singer then says that Pebbles told T-Boz that the reason she believed the affair did happen was because God told her that it did. Chili ends the conversation about the rumors by stating, “You know, I would never sleep with somebody’s husband. That’s disgusting.”

Band’s Saturday-night set was lively and loose, capping a day that also saw spirited sets from Mac Miller and Skrillex. By James Montgomery Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers performs at the 2012 Hangout Music Festival Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/ Getty Images GULF SHORES, Alabama — Having been at this for more than two decades now, the Red Hot Chili Peppers clearly know how to headline a fest: play the hits, thank the crowd, occasionally swat at a beach ball, exit stage right. Maybe work a few well-placed curse words in there too. These things tend to be the same. So it’s a testament to both their versatility and their dedication that the Chili Peppers’ Saturday-night set at the Hangout Festival was anything but by the numbers, as the band jammed long and hard, stretching songs to the breaking point (and beyond), much to the delight of the raucous, sun-baked crowd. Perhaps it was because their headlining slot kicked off just minutes after seasoned jam-meisters the String Cheese Incident finished their two-and-a-half hour set (which, for them, was basically just a warm-up), or maybe they were taking their cues from Friday night’s headliner, Jack White , but from the minute the Peps strode on stage, they were playing fast and loose. Drummer Chad Smith, bassist Flea and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer started things off with a reverb-heavy psych jam that only morphed into “The Monarchy of Roses” when frontman Anthony Kiedis bounded on stage, then kept that momentum rolling into “Can’t Stop,” with the trio trading solos while Kiedis nodded in time to the beat. There were, of course, more straightforward moments too: the Peppers tore through a string of hits, including “Dani California,” “Under The Bridge” and “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie,” and attacked songs like “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” and their version of “Higher Ground” with impassioned pounding. Flea was his usual non-sequitur self, spouting stuff like “Sweet Home Alabama, mother—-er!” and “Forgive your parents!” into the mic, and Kiedis was, as always, the warrior-shaman showman, posing and preening, always in motion (he and Flea also made the rather interesting decision to wear pants with one leg cut off above the knee). But there was a general, genial looseness throughout their two-hour set, showcasing Smith’s lock-step drumming, Flea’s precision playing and Klinghoffer’s wild, winding fretwork. At several points, they seemed to be making it up as they went along, gleefully turning a few stray notes into lengthy, twisting jams: Klinghoffer would summon a solo from his guitar, while Flea would flail and pound along, Smith and touring percussionist Mauro Refosco kicked off the band’s encore with a twisting back-and-forth exchange, and after blasting through “Give It Away,” the band closed their set with a lengthy, voluminous instrumental. The Peppers have always drawn from funk, and Flea’s dabblings in Jazz have paced them for nearly twenty years now, but on Saturday night, the improvisational nature of both were readily apparent. Rather than do the usual headlining set, the band wanted to just play. It seems to be a recurring theme of the Hangout fest … and it served as a perfect capper on a day that also saw lively and loose sets from the likes of Gogol Bordello, Mac Miller and Skrillex (who, in a bit of inspired scheduling, kicked off opposite Randy Newman). The Red Hot Chili Peppers breathed new life into time-tested favorites — “Suck My Kiss” was pounding and primal, “Californication” soared to new heights, “Soul to Squeeze” was sanguine and sweet — and appeared to have a blast whilst doing so. You can’t teach old dogs new tricks, but, if you bring them to the beach (and scheduled them after a jam band), well, you can certainly make them push things to the limit … with fantastic results. If this whole “world-famous rock band” thing doesn’t work out for RHCP, their Hangout set was proof that they’d make a killing on the jam circuit. Your move, String Cheese. Band’s first Stateside shows in four years kick off in January. By James Montgomery Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers Photo: Getty Images The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced their first run of U.S. shows in more than four years, in support of 2011’s (don’t-call-it-a-comeback) disc I’m With You. Currently in between runs of shows in the U.K. and Europe, the Peppers will return to the States for a trek that kicks off January 25 in Charlotte, North Carolina. So far, just six U.S. dates have been revealed, but according to a spokesperson for the band, more shows will be unveiled in the coming weeks. Tickets for the first six shows go on sale December 3. For more information, check out the band’s official site . The 2012 arena tour will mark RHCP’s first full-scale tour of the U.S. since 2007, when they wrapped their massive Stadium Arcadium jaunt — and subsequently went on hiatus — and their first with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer as a full-fledged member of the band. (He served as a backing musician on the Arcadium tour.) The Chili Peppers recently unveiled the Raymond Pettibon-influenced video for “Monarchy of Roses,” the second single off I’m With You, which was released in August and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, selling more than 229,000 copies. When MTV News spoke to the band on the eve of the album’s release, they told us that, more than anything, they couldn’t wait to take their new songs out on the road, especially since their handful of warm-up dates — including a headlining slot at Japan’s Summer Sonic fest — had gone swimmingly. “It’s very dynamic, so we really have to focus on letting each song exist unto itself with all its beauty. There’s a lot going on,” frontman Anthony Kiedis said. “We felt pretty good about everything that we had done in terms of writing and recording, but no one really knew [how the warm-up shows would turn out] and it was just as good as one could have ever dreamt of … It was like being 21 years old and not being able to sleep the night before a show.” The first dates for the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ I’m With You tour are as follows:
