Gaga is giving some proceeds earned from the just-released “Country Road Version” of her hit song to the gay-advocacy group GLSEN. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Late last month, Lady Gaga unveiled a guitar-searing, harmonica-infused, countrified version of her smash hit single, “Born This Way,” via her Twitter account. Ten days after its debut, Gaga has officially released the track, and will donate some of the proceeds from the tune to charity. A portion of the money earned from sales of “Born This Way (Country Road Version)” will go to the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), which, according to the organization’s website, “strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.” The country remix of the hit song, which was co-produced by Gaga and Fernando Garibay, boasts some new lyrics that play up the track’s twangy influences. Over picked mandolin accompaniment, Gaga sings, “If I wanna make it country, baby, it’s OK/ ‘Cause I was born, I was born, I was born this way/ From London, Paris, Japan back to USA/ I was born on the road, I was born to be brave.” In February, during a chat on Gayle King’s talk show, Gaga confirmed that there would be two videos for “Born This Way.” The Nick Knight-directed, sci-fi-influenced clip for the song’s original version dropped at the tail end of February. Meanwhile, there’s no word when or if Gaga will ever release a video for the “stripped-down” country version of the track considering she just wrapped up work on her clip for Born This Way ‘s second single, “Judas.” Do you plan to buy “Born This Way (Country Road Version)”? New take on hit song, dubbed ‘The Country Road Version,’ features slide guitar, mandolin and harmonica. By Gil Kaufman Lady Gaga Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images You can take all those Madonna comparisons and throw them out the window of your Ford F-150 truck, because on Thursday night Lady Gaga released a whole new version of her global smash “Born This Way” that featured a totally unexpected spin. After tweeting to her Little Monsters that she was preparing to release “Born This Way (The Country Road Version),” Mother Monster dropped the tune at midnight PT on Friday (March 25) via her Twitter account … and it did not disappoint. The new rendition of the hit opens with ominous, swirling guitars and then introduces a fuzzed-out slide guitar and harmonica wheeze, with all of the thumping disco beats replaced by restrained brush drumming and a more laid-back vibe. Once it kicks into the first chorus, the song continues to take its time, choogling along on live-sounding, laconic drumming and lots of soulful harmonica. Just before the three-minute mark, Gaga mixes in some new lyrics, drawling, “If I wanna make it country, baby, then it’s OK, cuz I was born, I was born, I was born this way,” over picked mandolin. “From London, Paris, Japan back to USA/ I was born on the road, I was born to be brave,” she adds, as the song breaks into full-on country-rock mode reminiscent of late-period Bon Jovi in the final minute. Meanwhile, the original, non-boot-scooting version of “BTW” notched its sixth week in a row at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts this week, which is what Gaga said prompted her to drop the surprise remake on her fans. Earlier this week, Gaga revealed that she’s almost done recording her Born This Way album , telling fans via Twitter, “In Nebraska, finishing up record today … I’m so proud of the album: I keep dancing+drinking: metal/techno rock journey of a woman on the run.” Plans are now being worked up for the tour in support of Born This Way (due out May 23) and Gaga’s first swing at directing, a collaboration with her creative director, Laurieann Gibson, on the video for the album’s upcoming second single, “Judas.” What do you think of Gaga’s twanged-up version of “Born This Way”? There’s nothing like a charity event that brings out all the biggest low level celebrities in one night…..I guess they work on a volume discount for discounted talent in volume mentality where 20 trashy idiots no one cares about or remember but who have been on TV for a minute or two…is far more cost effective than having one big name…cuz it’s a fashion show and they need models…otherwise the event would last 5 minutes…something I am sure every girl you’ve tried to get with both paid and unpaid is familiar with…. Bad jokes make the world go round…remember that…as you re-read this post for the gospel that it is. Suzanne Somers Needs a Date with her Thighmaster…. Denise Richards Lookin’ Like a Fucking Monster Eva Amuri not Showing Her Tits Even THough Her Tits are all that Matters….I mean other than her mother’s tits… Dita Von Teese cuz She really doesn’t matter, if anything she scares the fuck out of me, if anything she’s overrated, if anything Burlesque is for ugly fat chicks with little creativity, if anything I remember her lesbian porn career…if anything, it was no good. Audrina Patridge was Supposed to be in Red…But Was TOo Stupid to Figure that one out… Patti Labelle brings the stupid faces and cleavage….
January Jones looks a lot like a 12 year old boy from the 70s about to jump on his BMX to save ET or some shit, but I’m not gonna play that angle, cuz that would be pedo shit, something I like to avoid, so I’ll just play this one up as a farmer’s daughter outfit for those of you who have serious issues and dream about one day having your car break down on some dusty country road, where a helpful farmer invites you to stay in his barn, only to have his busty, curious daughter jump your civilized city dwelling dick, only to get caught after you accidentally hurt one of the pigs, only to have the farmer come out shotgun in hand to chase you away pants around your ankles…. All this to say, January Jones is overrated and the only way she’s hot is if you’ve got a serious fucking imagination.
