Fan Declares for NBA Draft, Is Deemed Free Agent by League

On April 19, a 25-year old Reddit user decided to apply for the NBA Draft. Who cares that he lacked any collegiate basketball experience? This dude was ready to suit up, as he pleaded his case in a letter sent to Commissioner David Stern: But here’s the thing: by rule, the league must reply to anyone who seeks Draft entrance. Which is why Vice President Andy Taub wrote back to the Hoboken resident, acknowledged his college degree was awarded in 2010 and concluded: As a result, you were eligible for the draft immediately following your senior year, and are now a free agent eligible to sign with any NBA team. HA! Hilarious! And even funnier? You know the Charlotte Bobcats are considered this guy’s services. He couldn’t exactly make them worse.

Tony Parker, Tim Duncan Hold Guns to NBA Ref’s Head in Halloween Party Photo

In a photo the San Antonio Spurs probably wish didn’t leak, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan can be seen at a Halloween party with someone dressed as referee nemesis Joey Crawford. They are holding their toy guns to “Crawford’s” head. Given the Spurs’ recent controversy – they were fined $250,000 for sitting Duncan, Parker and two other stars against the Heat Thursday – the timing is less than great. It’s unclear how or when the picture ended up on Reddit, but wow. Duncan and Parker holding guns to the head of someone dressed as an NBA official? Hilarious as Halloween costumes go, but David Stern is likely to have an aneurysm. We see another DNP in their future … involuntary this time. Incidentally, Duncan appears to be The Punisher, and Parker’s eye patch is a nice touch, considering the injury he suffered in last spring’s Chris Brown-Drake fight .

Hi Haters: The NBA Kills ANOTHER Chris Paul Trade!

Chris Paul just needs to kick David Stern in the nards and not play this season. After killing the Chris Paul trade to the LA Lakers for “basketball reasons”, the NBA has killed a trade that would send him to the Clippers. This is just getting insane. According to reports, the Clippers’ package for the Hornets’ superstar wasn’t enough, therefore nixing the second proposed Paul trade to Los Angeles over the last few days. The Clippers’ package was supposed to feature high-scorer Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman and second-year forward Al-Farouq Aminu, with possibly an unprotected first-round draft pick from Minnesota for this coming draft going to the Hornets. But that still did not satisfy the league and the Clippers reportedly pulled out because it did not want to surrender any more assets. The deal would have been huge for the Staples Center’s No. 2 tenants, since Paul would have been able to join forces with Blake Griffin, a budding superstar and last year’s runaway winner inthe Rookie of the Year sweepstakes As you can imagine, Twitter is in another outrage based on this turn of events. Since the end of last season, the NBA has been in a PR nightmare. Do you think the league is fixed right now? Source

NBA Lockout Over! Kris Humphries a Free Agent!

An official agreement must still be reached, but it’s safe to celebrate, NBA fans: the lockout is over! Commissioner David Stern and Player’s Association leader Billy Hunter appeared at a joint press conference last night and announced that a tentative agreement had been reached, the results of which mean the following: training camps and free agency will begin on December 9. A 66-game season will kick off on Christmas Day. What is the celebrity gossip spin to all this? Kris Humphries is a free agent, of course. Where will Kim’s reality TV co-star play ball next season?!? The bruising power forward averaged a double-double in 2010-2011, growing into one of the few bright spots for the New Jersey Nets. That team may attempt to re-sign him, but its priority will be locking up point guard Deron Williams to a long-term deal. With no hard cap in place, the Knicks will have the deep pockets to a lure a few key free agents, and we all know how much Kris has embraced the big market lifestyle . No matter where Humphries ends up playing, only one question really matters: With what cheer will NBA fans taunt him? We’ve offered a few possibilities below and we welcome any other suggestions: Kim Kardashian Divorce – The Pulse

Lockout Woes Continue: David Stern Says We Might As Well Cancel Christmas Games

David Stern has been making his media rounds today and said that he’s doubtful about a the NBA coming back by Christmas. Damn, Damn, DAMN!!!! Commissioner David Stern said his “gut” tells him there will be no NBA basketball on Christmas without a labor agreement by Tuesday. That day, when owners and players are scheduled to meet with a federal mediator, is a “really big deal,” he added. Owners will then open two days of board meetings Wednesday, and without an agreement to bring them, Stern believes further cancellations are coming. “Right now, Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday, just before my owners come into town, having brought in the labor relations committee and Billy (Hunter) having brought in his executive committee, it’s time to make the deal,” Stern said Thursday. “If we don’t make it on Tuesday, my gut — this is not in my official capacity of canceling games — but my gut is that we won’t be playing on Christmas Day.” Stern canceled the first two weeks of the regular season on Monday when the sides couldn’t reach a deal before a deadline he had set. Christmas is traditionally on of the first big days of the NBA season. This year’s three-game schedule features the NBA Finals rematch between the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat. Look on the bright side: LeBron won’t blow a game on Christmas Day if the game is canceled! It’s like a Christmas miracle! Well, actually, it just really sucks. Source
