Lil Wayne Reveals New Album, Devol, On Way

‘It’s my version of love songs,’ Weezy explains in ‘Hip Hop POV’ interview, airing tonight at midnight ET on MTV. By Rob Markman Lil Wayne on “Hip Hop POV” Photo: MTV2 Lil Wayne gets love all around the world, but on his next album, Weezy plans to flip the script. During an exclusive interview with Amanda Seales from MTV’s new weekly late-night talk show “Hip Hop POV,” Wayne revealed that he is working on a new LP called Devol (pronounced “devil”). “That’s ‘loved’ spelled backwards, and it’s my version of love songs,” Tunechi explained. “RapFix Live” premiered the exclusive clip, and fans can watch the entire interview tonight (April 11) at midnight ET on MTV during the series premiere of “Hip Hop POV.” Seales went down to Miami, where she was treated to an intimate listening session by the Young Money boss himself. It’s no secret that Weezy F has a way with the ladies. With songs like “Lollipop” and “She Will,” Wayne has carved out a lane for himself as a hip-hop sex symbol — but he isn’t exactly going all loverboy on us. “What I mean by my version of love songs is meaning they’re not saying, ‘I love you,’ ” he explains in the clip. “It’s all material I did when I was locked up.” Birdman Jr. isn’t the only rap star who will pop up on tonight’s debut: 2 Chainz will join the “Hip Hop POV” castmembers — also including Charlamagne tha God, Devi Dev, Bu Thiam and Sowmya Krishnamurthy — on the show’s premiere. Don’t miss tonight’s premiere episode of “MTV’s Hip Hop POV” at midnight ET on MTV. The conversation-based show highlights some of today’s hottest news and more from a cast of hip-hop tastemakers. Fans can also join in on the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #HipHopPOV. Related Videos ‘RapFix Live’ Gets A New Point Of View Related Artists Lil Wayne

TwitterFiles: Out-Of-PocketNicki Minaj Stans Go HAM On Jill Scott After She Tweets About Exorcism Grammy Performance!

It’s one thing to be a fan but cotDAMN…SMH While most of us have already seen, passed judgement on, and moved past, Nicki Minaj’s head-scratching Grammy performance, Philadelphia chanteuse Jill Scott just got a chance to see it for herself. Upon watching the clip, Jill took to Twitter to express her thoughts on the Catholic-themed show. Like most of us, Jilly from Philly wasn’t really diggin’ it, and the Nicki Barbz came out of their dollhouses in droves to e-ssassinate her over Twitter. Although they were totally out of pocket in the way they addressed the three-time winner, she handled the misguided Minaj minions with class and dignity. Flip the script to peep the tweets. TwitterFiles Part 1: Nicki Minaj And Cher Catch eFade Over “Did It One Em” Song Lyrics, Then Boy-Toy Safaree Puts On His Cape To Save A Hoe!

When we imagined Nicki Minaj in a threesome, this isn’t exactly what we had in mind… Last night, a fan, or something of the like, put Cher onto Nicki Minaj’s use of her name in a punchline on the Pink Friday track “Did It On Em” If you could turn back time, Cher/You used the be here but now you gone Nair Apparently Cher isn’t too familiar with hip-hop language uses, and didn’t realize that the line was NOT a diss until a hoard of Nicki Minaj stans Barbies jumped down her throat and set her straight. Nicki didn’t spazz on the iconic singer for talkin’ slick, but her excitable side-kick Scaff Beezy took the opportunity to try to hijack some limelight for his excruciatingly lame “rap career” and popped off at the mouth RECKLESS!! Flip the script to read the fawkery…

Ho Sit Down: Rappers And Singers Who Don’t Know That Their Career Is Over Part 1

You gotta know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em, know when to walk away, know when to run… Nothin’ lasts forever, and that old adage is especially true when it comes to hip-hop and R&B. Some artists are fortunate enough to have long careers with several multi-platinum albums, but even a good run has its end. We’ve rounded up some artists that might not have gotten the memo that the general public has moved on to something newer and shinier. Some of your favorite rappers and singers may be on this list, and it might be hard to accept, but we feel like these folks’ careers are all but finished. Flip the script to see who we think should just retire their jersey.

Corey Haim Talks Drug Addiction In 2007

‘They built rehabs because of me,’ the actor, who died Wednesday of an apparent drug overdose, told us. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Cory Haim Photo: Jim Spellman/ WireImage Corey Haim made no secret of his past battles with drug addiction and his multiple stays in rehabilitation centers over the years. Now that the ’80s star has died of an apparent drug overdose at the age of 38, MTV News went back into our archives to an August 2007 interview during which Haim spoke honestly and insightfully about his struggles with substance abuse and the day he finally got clean. “They built rehabs because of me,” he said during the interview in our New York newsroom. Haim had submitted to various treatment programs time after time, but none ever instilled in him a true desire to get clean. “It didn’t work at the beginning because I was doing it for everyone else,” he said. ” ‘Mom, I love you, I’m going to get clean for you. Dad, I love you, man, gonna get clean for you, gonna go in here for you. I’ll do it for you, I’ll do it for you.’ Everyone but me.” What changed? Haim woke up one day — describing the timeline as “years ago” — and literally couldn’t look at himself in the mirror. “I know it’s an old, boring story, but it was a day where I looked in the mirror,” he said. “It was strange, not because I think I’m God. I looked in the mirror and was like, ‘Man, you just don’t look good.’ And I didn’t feel well accompanied with it at all. [His loved ones said] ‘That’s what we were trying to tell you!’ ‘Right, but now I get it for me. Not for you, not for you and not for you. For me, I get it.’ ” “It wasn’t a good day,” he added. “But it was the best day of my life, if you want to flip the script. It was an eye-opener.” If early reports are to be believed, however, Haim eventually seemed to have relapsed. He died of an apparent drug overdose early Wednesday morning and an autopsy is planned . In the summer of 2007, though, in the midst of a comeback that had him starring in A&E reality show “The Two Coreys,” Haim spoke of his drug addictions as if they were strictly in the past. “I think when a person gets it with themselves finally, however they get it, that’s a great day for them, if they’re still alive,” he said.
