‘James Bond 23’ To Return With Daniel Craig, Studio Says

MGM also announces a November 9, 2012, release date for the previously delayed ‘007’ film. By Kara Warner Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes Photo: Gabriel Bouys/ AFP There’s exciting news for James Bond fans! On Tuesday (January 11), after months of rumors about the fate of MGM — which owns the rights to the “007” franchise — the studio has given the 23rd film in the series a release date and secured “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace” star Daniel Craig to suit up as Bond once again. According to Deadline , the still-untitled film will be released worldwide on November 9, 2012, with Sam Mendes directing a screenplay written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. While plot details are, as expected, heavily under wraps, we already know that in addition to Craig’s return, Dame Judi Dench will reprise her role as M. “I think I’m going to be needed in spring of 2011,” Dench told MTV News way back in 2009. “That’s a message I got. It would mean I could do something at the end of next year, something else, maybe be in the theater.” Among the other players still to be determined are a likely Bond girl, played in previous films by the likes of Halle Berry (“Die Another Day”), Teri Hatcher (“Tomorrow Never Dies”), Denise Richards (“The World Is Not Enough”) and the woman who started it all, classic beauty-in-a-bikini Ursula Andress (“Dr. No”). With regard to villains, Michael Sheen’s name has been tossed in the mix for the role of Blofeld , a character perhaps more well-known these days as the inspiration for Mike Myers’ Dr. Evil in the “Austin Powers” movies. But there’s no rule in Bond films that says the villain has to be male — or that there will only be one. Who’s your pick for the next Bond girl or Bond villain? Tell us in the comments! Eminem Producer Alex Da Kid Is ‘Confident’ In His Grammy Chances

Two of his songs — Em’s ‘Love the Way You Lie’ and B.o.B’s ‘Airplanes’ — are facing off for Record of the Year. By Steven Roberts Alex Da Kid Photo: Gabriel Bouys/AFP/Getty Images Producer Alex Da Kid has had quite the year, collaborating with Eminem and Rihanna on the chart-topping “Love the Way You Lie” as well as B.o.B and Hayley Williams on the equally anthemic “Airplanes.” Now that the 2011 Grammy nominations have been announced, Alex has racked up a few nods, and his two biggest hits will even duke it out for Record of the Year. MTV News caught up with Alex via phone Thursday (December 2), and he said he was extremely excited about the recognition but wasn’t surprised: He knew these songs would put him on the map from day one. “I remember sitting in the studio with Em and being like, ‘I’m writing my Grammy speech right now,’ ” Alex recalled. “He hates all that stuff, and he hates it when I say stuff like that, but I really believed in it from the start.” Alex’s first major song was B.o.B’s “Airplanes,” which he said paved the way for his second Grammy-nominated song, “Love the Way You Lie.” Eminem — who received 10 nominations himself — is featured on “Airplanes Pt. II,” and Alex said their relationship grew from there. The rookie producer faces stiff competition in the Record of the Year category — where he faces off against Cee Lo’s “F— You,” Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” and Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind” — but Alex remains confident about his chances. “I mean, I think they’re pretty good,” he told MTV News of his pair of tracks. “I’m a confident person, and they’re my favorite songs out of the category we’re in, but you never know.” Do you think Alex has a good shot come Grammy night? Lady Gaga’s ‘You And I’: The ‘Little Monsters’ Rate Her New Song

‘It sounds like old-school Gaga,’ one fan says outside Monster Ball Tour kickoff in Montreal. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Gabriel Bouys/ Getty Images MONTREAL — Last week, Lady Gaga debuted a brand-new song (“You and I”) during her performance at Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara Ball . Of course, soon after, footage of the tune hit YouTube, where it quickly became a certified sensation. In fact, the response was so great, that on Monday, at the kickoff of the North American leg of the Monster Ball Tour in Montreal , Gaga decided — rather spur-of-the-moment-ly — to play the song again, much to the delight of the thousands of “little monsters” in attendance. And after the show — in between quizzing them about whether Gaga is Team Edward or Team Jacob — we decided to ask those monsters to review “You and I” for us. Not surprisingly, most of them seemed to love it. “It was so emotional. It brought a tear to my eye,” Larissa Saplywyj said. “You could feel her emotion too … how much it meant to her [to play it].” “She played the new song, [and] it was amazing. I didn’t even know it, and I am a huge Gaga fan,” Catherine Dupressoir added. “I’m going to go find it on YouTube when I get home.” Of course, it should be noted that not all of Gaga’s fans were as quick to embrace the new song. To some, it was too much of a departure from her electro-pop roots (of course, others were too busy getting engaged to even notice it at all). “I don’t hate it, but I’m expecting even more for the next album,” Nicholas Vansorto said. “I’d like to hear more electronic music, not just songs that are like that.” “Well, it’s a total different vibe. It’s very rock star, Elton John,” Danik Renaud said. “[But] any style suits her. … It was very special, indeed, for her to share something so great with us. I’m very honored to be a part of the premiere. … It was great being in there with all the people [to hear it].” Overall, most of the fans in Montreal gave the arena debut of “You and I” a resounding thumbs-up, especially since it harkens back to her early days as a performer in New York’s Lower East Side. “It sounds like old-school Gaga,” Liana Carbone said. “It sounds like pre- Fame Gaga, the real Gaga. The New York Gaga.” What do you think of “You and I”? Share your thoughts in the comments! Related Artists Lady Gaga
