Over the weekend, a shocking preponderance of Harry Styles–related conversation focused on two very important subjects: (1) Whether “Two Ghosts” was written about Taylor Swift, and (2) whether “Ever Since New York” was written about Taylor Swift. Harry, understandably, declined to confirm or deny either burning question. “I mean, I think it’s pretty, like, self-explanatory,”… Read more »

John Hurt, an absolutely incredible actor, passed away last night at the age of 77 years old. He'd been battling pancreatic cancer for a few years. But instead of focusing on the sadness of his death , let's take some time to focus on his career. And goodness, what a career it was. John was perhaps best known for starring in The Elephant Man, but he also had notable roles in movies like Alien and V for Vendetta. Many people would also recognize him from his work in the Harry Potter movies — he played Ollivander, the dedicated wandmaker. But in addition to making so many wonderful films, he was also, as we're learning, a great person. Check out many celebrities who've taken the time to pay tribute to this man: 1. Elijah Wood “Very sad to hear of John Hurt’s passing. It was such an honor to have watched you work, sir.” 2. J.K. Rowling “So very sad to hear that the immensely talented and deeply beloved John Hurt has died. My thoughts are with his family and friends.” 3. Sharon Stone “God speed to John Hurt, a legendary actor and good human being.” 4. Kumail Nanjiani “Oh no. RIP John Hurt. He made everything he was in better. I was looking forward to seeing many more performances.” 5. Kiefer Sutherland “My deepest sympathies to John Hurt’s family, friends and fans. He was a dear friend.” 6. Mel Brooks “It was terribly sad today to learn of John Hurt’s passing. He was a truly magnificent talent. No one could have played The Elephant Man more memorably. He carried that film into cinematic immortality. He will be sorely missed.” View Slideshow

No, really, people: Prince William supports his brother. A few weeks ago, Prince Harry took the very unusual step of releasing a statement through Kensington Palace that confirmed his relationship with Suits actress Meghan Markle . It took the public to task and asked that people please show some respect by, at the very least , not threatening Markle’s life over the Internet. In the wake of this statement, rumors started to swirl that William did not support either its release; the romance between his brother and the Suits star in general; or both. And while anonymous sources had tried to quiet talk of a sibling rivalry , it has taken a second statement from The Royal Family to finally put this alleged beef to rest. Via a Kensington Palace press spokesman, William said the following on Monday: “The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him.” Short. Simple. Mostly to the point. Would it have been nice to read something along the lines of “Prince William adores Meghan Markle and tries to watch Suits online whenever he can to keep up with her work and hopes she is soon part of the family?” Sure. But that would have been asking a lot. Harry and Markle are clearly very serious about each other. You almost never see a member of the Royal family acknowledge his or her romance in such a public manner. The stars met this spring in Toronto and saw each other often over the summer, according to various sources, with Markle typically flying overseas to spend time in London. There’s already talk of marriage. Harry released his statement after a flood of harassment and abuse directed at Markle and her family prompted him to break with royal tradition. In the statement, he said he feared for her safety. “It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm,” the statement from Kensington Palace read. It continued: “The past week has seen a line crossed. His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment…” “He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game.’ He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his.” Amen, Harry. And amen, William. Way to stick up for your (hot!!!!) brother.
