Ballerific Cribs: Hines Ward Puts His Beautiful Atlanta Mansion On The Market For $7.5M [Photos]

This house is beautiful: NFL wide receiver, former Dancing With the Stars contestant and avid Architectural Digest reader Hines Ward made quite a bit of money for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the course of a long and storied tenure with the team – and while it’s almost certain he’s played his last game in black and gold after the team handed him his walking papers this offseason, it appears that the NFL veteran has eyes to further line his coffers. Ward recently put his Atlanta, GA “dream home” on the market, listing the mansion property for a cool $7.5 million. The Atlanta native, who has made no secret of his fondness for architecture and style, contributed in the homebuilding process for the contemporary estate, adding ideas like dark-colored woodwork, a poker room and other resort-like features to the eventual design. “I wanted my house to be like a W Hotel,” Ward would remark in a 2011 interview with Atlanta Magazine. Completed in 2006, the 12,836-square-foot modern manse sits on a lot of more than two acres and offers eight bedrooms (with a master bedroom on each of the home’s two floors) and 11 bathrooms. Luxe amenities include a contemporary kitchen, formal sitting areas, butler’s pantry and theater room, along with elevator access to its two levels, while the rear of the property boasts a resort-styled pool and spa, outdoor kitchen and a grotto equipped with high-def televisions and another spa. Hines Ward, Witnesses Question DUI Arrest

Hines Ward is one of the most upstanding citizens in the NFL, making the news of his DUI arrest shocking for all who follow the league. But the wide receiver’s rep the “preliminary investigation” makes him “confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving,” while those who actually saw the Dancing with the Stars champion out that night concur. A waiter at the Bucket Bottle, an establishment Ward frequented Friday night, said the All-Pro was there for a few hours, but only downed a couple drink. He told TMZ Ward was very nice and didn’t appear inebriated. A waitress at Oasis, another bar Ward stopped at, echoed this image of the Steeler only have a drink or two and scarcely causing a scene. Of course, a sobriety test says a lot more than two anonymous employees. So we’ll update this story when more hard evidence is revealed.

Hines Ward Arrested for DUI

Hines Ward, 35, was booked on a DUI charge at the DeKalb County jail near Atlanta at 3:41 a.m. Saturday and later released on $1,000 bail, according to jail records. “Hines is deeply saddened by this incident and apologizes to his fans and the Steelers organization for this distraction,” his agent/manager Andrew Ree says in a statement. Hines Ward, the pro football star and most recent winner of Dancing with the Stars, was arrested for investigation of drunken driving in Georgia. But Ree adds

Hines Ward Arrested for Drunk Driving

Hines Ward has gone from Dancing with the Stars to perp walking with the police. The Super Bowl champion and reality show winner was busted for DUI this morning in Dekalb County, Georgia. He posted $1,000 bail and released shortly after the arrest. Between this bonehead move and the mailed-in proposal of Roy Williams , one thing is certain: the NFL really needs to ends its lockout. The players have no idea what to do with so much time off. UPDATE: Says Ward’s rep: “He cooperated fully with the police and truthfully answered all of their questions. We are currently in the process of ascertaining all the facts. From our preliminary investigation we can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving.”

‘Dancing With The Stars’: Kirstie Alley Gets Assist From John Travolta

Despite the cameo, it was Hines Ward who won over the judges with his rumba. By Kelley L. Carter John Travolta, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley on “Dancing With the Stars” Photo: ABC Even the help of swift-footed John Travolta couldn’t get Kirstie Alley more points from the judges on Monday night’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Alley’s “Look Who’s Talking” co-star appeared in a pre-taped segment as her “Dance Doctor.” The actress and her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, have been grabbing headlines the last few weeks with their dancing mishaps, and Travolta, who has swiveled his hips in films like “Pulp Fiction,” “Grease” and “Saturday Night Fever,” gave his friend a few pointers, joking in the segment that Alley should wear gym shoes instead of high heels. Still, the comedic bit wasn’t enough to bolster a higher score. The two earned 23 points out of 30 (only one point better than the week before), putting them ahead of three couples, who each earned 22 points. Here’s how the others fared: Hines Ward and Kym Johnson: The football star soared to the top of the leaderboard with his rumba to “God Bless the U.S.A.” “You make it look so easy,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said. “You have the best hip action I have seen in a long time.” Score: 27/30. Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas: Last week’s critical darlings maintained a high position with a samba done to Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the U.S.A.” Score: 26/30. Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke: The judges loved the wrestler’s interpretation of the Viennese waltz to “America the Beautiful.” “I feel like we’ve underestimated you,” Inaba told him. Head judge Len Goodman gave him 8 points. Score: 26/30. Romeo and Chelsie Hightower: The two performed a foxtrot to “New York, New York,” and impressed the judges with the improvement in Romeo’s posture and arm movements. Score: 26/30. Kendra Wilkinson and Louis Van Amstel : The former playmate and reality star danced a foxtrot to “Yankee Doodle,” and the judges said she’s improving. “It’s much better than last week,” Goodman told her. “It was fun and it was entertaining.” Still, it wasn’t enough to keep them out of the bottom three. Score: 22/30. Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin: The supermodel and her partner quick-stepped to Elvis’ “Viva Las Vegas,” but judges were none too impressed. They liked that she handled the fast pace of the performance but said that this was far from her best dance. Score: 22/30. Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff: Once the early darlings of this season, they’ve dropped to a three-way tie for the lowest score this week. Their samba to “Sweet Home Alabama” did little to convince the judges that they should be contenders for the title this season. Goodman said the main problem is that Macchio isn’t consistent enough and needs more rhythm. Score: 22/30. Who was your favorite couple this week? Who should go home? Sound off in the comments! Hines Ward Dedicates Samba to His Mom on Dancing With the Stars

NFL star Hines Ward dedicated his Dancing With the Stars performance to his mom last night. With the top score of the evening, he certainly made her proud. Hines chose Earth, Wind and Fire’s “Fantasy,” which reminds him of his mother. He and partner Kym Johnson did the routine “as a thank you to her,” she says. When Bruno called it an uplifting expression of happiness, he wasn’t that far off. Seeing Hines’ adorable mom in the audience made it all the better, too … Dancing With the Stars Week 3 – Hines and Kym Hines and Petra Nemcova shared the lead last night with 25 points. Chelsea Kane and Kendra Wilkinson tied for the second position with 23 points apiece. Early leaders Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff and Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy took a step back this week, finishing with dueling 21s.
