Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas all but assured their place in next week’s finale by taking a Winner Take All dance in Monday’s Dancing With the Stars semis. We can debate whether or not this new scoring wrinkle is fair, but what’s not up for debate is how far the Disney Channel star has come in recent weeks. Capturing the Winner Take All Cha-Cha and its 15 extra points will help her cause, but she also scored a combined 58 in the other two routines last night. Speaking on Kane’s behalf in a pre-recorded segment, friend Joe Jonas said of Chelsea, “she’s doing such a great job. I think this is just the beginning.” She’ll be tough to beat next week in any case. Lauren Conrad’s ex-boyfriend, Stephen Colletti, is dating Chelsea Kane, the Disney and Dancing with the Stars cutie, according to new reports. “We were set up on a blind date by my manager,” Kane says. It turns out the dancer has been a fan of Colletti, who now stars on One Tree Hill , since his days with LC on MTV’s reality hit Laguna Beach . “She tore his photo out of a magazine to show friends!” says a friend , presumably meaning back then, and not like last week. Cute stuff! In other DWTS news, Kendra Wilkinson has been feeling so degraded and sad lately, while Kirstie Alley is allegedly a control freak. Good to know, Us! All three ladies are still in the running in this wide open season. Hines Ward, Ralph Macchio, Chris Jericho and Romeo round out the remaining field. Who do you think win Dancing With the Stars?

‘Dancing With the Stars’ couple say they like to ‘create a story line.’ By Kelley L. Carter Chelsea Kane Photo: MTV News LOS ANGELES — A couple of weeks in, Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas have found the right magic. MTV News caught up with the “Dancing With the Stars” couple during rehearsals for the Viennese waltz they performed Monday night, and they said they are a perfect dance-floor match. “I feel like we’re one of the couples on the show that have really found this awesome balance between learning and living,” Kane said. “We’re on a ballroom-dancing show; this is supposed to be fun. We get to come to work and literally make up dances, and then go put on rad costumes. There’s nothing to complain about! We come to the studio, we rehearse and then we like to find times to just relax and make sure that we’re taking in this whole experience and having a good time.” That magic played out on Monday’s show. It took a lot of hard work to master the dance, the Disney Channel star said, because it challenged her to rework her timing. “We like to always create a story line with our songs, and this one was really fun. We still got to kind of tell the story and do the freestyle stuff that Mark really excels at. I think he’s one of the best choreographers on the show,” she said. “This whole dance, there’s a lot of in-frame, where it looks like you’re leaning back and it looks like you’re going back into a backbend while you’re spinning around in circles. It looks really pretty. It doesn’t feel pretty, but it looks really pretty.” Ballas concurred, saying the dance is magical, but a tough one to perfect. “It’s also very technical, smooth and elegant and graceful. It’s one of the ballroom dances and it’s a lot of traditional things that you have to nail,” he said. The dance was only made more magical because the couple performed with a 36-piece orchestra onstage with them. “I think the most challenging part for me is the speed, which is surprising,” Kane said. “It seems like it’s a slow song, but you’re actually moving your feet really fast, and it’s supposed to look like you’re floating around on the floor.” Ballas said the reason they work well together is that they both agree that at the end of the day, it’s all about having a good time. “We have a lot of fun. We work really hard, but we also make it enjoyable, which it’s meant to be,” he said. “We don’t take it too seriously. We have our frustrating moments as well, but when we do, we take a break and come back to it.” What did you think of Chelsea and Mark’s performance on Monday’s “Dancing With the Stars”? So much for that rumored break . Just days after Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart supposedly split, the actor led the cast of Twilight in a 21st birthday celebration for his girlfriend on Saturday night. Sources tell Us Weekly a private party was held at Rockwell’s Bar & Grill in Vancouver, as “Rob led the crowd singing” for Kristen, the insider says, adding: “You could tell she was so embarrassed but in a cute way.” Stewart received a motorcycle as a gift and an onlooker makes it clear she and Pattinson are as hot and as heavy as ever: “Rob and Kristin were together all night. They held hands and he kissed her cheek a bunch of times.” Breaking Dawn will be finished filming within a few weeks. But expect to see these two together a lot over the next few months, as they promote the film’s November release.
A week ago, Kirstie Alley fell to the floor, only to make a full recovery on Dancing With the Stars. Unfortunately, she suffered another mishap last night. This time, it was a footwear malfunction. Kirstie and Maksim Chmerkovskiy had to fight through more adversity as Alley’s left shoe fell off in mid-waltz. Just like the previous week, they recovered well enough to earn a respectable score – 22 out of 30 – plus sympathy and respect from fans and judges. Kirstie Alley Loses Shoe on Dancing With the Stars “You didn’t miss a beat,” said Carrie Ann Inaba. Bruno Tonioli agreed, while Len Goodman was less impressed, pointing out the need for improvement. Still, we’d be surprised if Kirstie and Maks were in jeopardy after a second straight week of bouncing back strongly from a somewhat freakish setback. Another gal who should be safe? Disney starlet Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas, whose Viennese waltz earned them the top score of the night at 26. Watch it, and check out the full scoreboard, after the jump … Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas – DWTS Week 4 That put them just ahead of the Hines Ward and Kym Johnson and Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff. Both of those couples notched scores of 25. Len grumbled about Chelsea’s unorthodox choreography, but technically, the judges could not deny that Kane’s was the best dance of the night. At the bottom of the heap and definitely at risk of elimination tonight are Kendra Wilkinson and Louis van Amstel, who bombed with an 18. Here’s last night’s scoreboard … Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas: 26 Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff: 25 Hines Ward and Kym Johnson: 25 Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke: 23 Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin: 23 Romeo and Chelsie Hightower: 23 Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 22 Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunskya: 21 Kendra Wilkinson and Louis Van Amstel: 18 Who do you think is going home this evening? Rapper Kanye West has been spotted getting his flirt on with Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue beauty Kate Upton recently. The star was caught sneaking in the back door at the Victoria’s Secret VIP Swim event at Club L in L.A. and sitting with the ridiculously hot Upton. Seriously, she’s out of this world like Kanye and Katy Perry’s “E.T.” video . A New York Post source said that the two were flirting and left hand in hand through the back door to avoid celebrity gossip attention. Interesting … Sort of hating Kanye West right now, guys? Same here .
NFL star Hines Ward dedicated his Dancing With the Stars performance to his mom last night. With the top score of the evening, he certainly made her proud. Hines chose Earth, Wind and Fire’s “Fantasy,” which reminds him of his mother. He and partner Kym Johnson did the routine “as a thank you to her,” she says. When Bruno called it an uplifting expression of happiness, he wasn’t that far off. Seeing Hines’ adorable mom in the audience made it all the better, too … Dancing With the Stars Week 3 – Hines and Kym Hines and Petra Nemcova shared the lead last night with 25 points. Chelsea Kane and Kendra Wilkinson tied for the second position with 23 points apiece. Early leaders Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff and Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy took a step back this week, finishing with dueling 21s.
