23 Celebrities You Thought Were Dead

No these 23 celebrities aren't dead, though you probably thought they were. From teen heart-throbs to Academy Award Winners, these stars just haven't been doing much lately. Check out our slideshow below to find out who they are! 1. Pauly Shore Remember this guy? It’s been a while since we’ve seen Pauly Shore, and even longer since the comedien has starred in anything remotely well-known. Okay, maybe that’s an overstatement for Encino Man, Son-in-Law, and Bio-Dome, but you get the idea. 2. Amanda Bynes Seriously, what the heck happened to Amanda Bynes? She hasn’t appeared on any screen since 2010. She announced that she was retiring from acting back in 2012. She’s been dealing with some pretty serious personal problems for a while. 3. David Schwimmer Nothing can compare to David Schwimmer’s role as Ross on Friends, but we’re pretty bummed he hasn’t done much since then. He is, however, set to appear on a new series in 2016. 4. Alexis Bledel The Gilmore Girls star resurfaced for a reunion this summer, but otherwise, it seems like Alexis Bledel has been pretty dormant. She did make a few appearances as a not-so-Rory-like character on Mad Men, but we hoped she’d do so much more after Gilmore Girls ended. 5. Bridget Fonda Bridget Fonda has disappeared, but she’s still very much alive. The actress, known for her roles in The Godfather Part III, Single White Female, and Jackie Brown, hasn’t appeared on our screens in over 10 years. 6. Dave Chappelle Where have you been, Dave Chappelle? Though he returned to stand-up a couple of years ago, he seems to have fallen offf the map ever since he left Chappelle’s Show. View Slideshow

VIDEO: The Karate Kid’s Rough Draft Feels Like Swedeing With the Stars

In a video that hit the Web over a year and a half ago but appears to have only really surfaced this week, find Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita and other principals from The Karate Kid rehearsing the entire 1984 classic on handheld camera for the film’s director, John G. Avildsen. It’s like something out of Be Kind Rewind — except, you know, featuring the actual cast working with no budget and the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind the VHS (?) camera announcing sound cues (“Wind chimes!”) and other pertinent atmospherics as the story rolls along.

Dancing With the Stars’ Chelsea Kane: Dating Stephen Colletti!

Lauren Conrad’s ex-boyfriend, Stephen Colletti, is dating Chelsea Kane, the Disney and Dancing with the Stars cutie, according to new reports. “We were set up on a blind date by my manager,” Kane says. It turns out the dancer has been a fan of Colletti, who now stars on One Tree Hill , since his days with LC on MTV’s reality hit Laguna Beach . “She tore his photo out of a magazine to show friends!” says a friend , presumably meaning back then, and not like last week. Cute stuff! In other DWTS news, Kendra Wilkinson has been feeling so degraded and sad lately, while Kirstie Alley is allegedly a control freak. Good to know, Us! All three ladies are still in the running in this wide open season. Hines Ward, Ralph Macchio, Chris Jericho and Romeo round out the remaining field. Who do you think win Dancing With the Stars?

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Recap: Petra Is Out, Pia Toscano Is In

‘American Idol’ castoff will sing on the show next Tuesday. By Kelley L. Carter Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin Photo: ABC The big news to come out of Tuesday night’s “Dancing With the Stars” elimination show wasn’t who was getting booted. Host Tom Bergeron announced — to the crowd’s delight — that ousted “American Idol” finalist (and rumored girlfriend of dancing pro Mark Ballas) Pia Toscano will perform next Tuesday. She’ll be singing while Ballas and partner Chelsea Kane dance. Of course, who was actually eliminated was saved for the final minutes of the show, and the couples in a three-way tie for the bottom judges’ score had to sweat it out for a while. Kendra Wilkinson, Ralph Macchio and Petra Nemcova each earned only 22 points on Monday night. Many predicted that Wilkinson and her partner, Louis Van Amstel, would be heading home. The couple danced an unimpressive foxtrot to “Yankee Doodle,” and even though the judges told her that she was improving, she still had a long way to go. “It’s much better than last week,” head judge Len Goodman told her. “It was fun, and it was entertaining.” In the end, it was the supermodel who got booted. On Monday night, Nemcova and her partner quick-stepped to Elvis’ “Viva Las Vegas,” but the judges weren’t impressed. They liked that she handled the fast pace well, but said that this was far from her best dance. The voting public agreed, but Nemcova smiled and said she enjoyed her experience. “It’s been a life-changing journey for me,” the Czech-born model said after learning her fate. “I made amazing friends. Dmitry [Chaplin] put up with me for two months.” Related Photos ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 12 Cast Revealed The 2011 ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Cast’s Movie Past

Dancing With the Stars Recap: Kirstie Alley, Maksim Chmerkovskiy Fall, Make Full Recovery!

Hines Ward and Petra Nemcova led the way last night on Dancing With the Stars with scores of 25 apiece, but Kirstie Alley’s routine got the most buzz. Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s fall to start his rumba with Kirstie was the defining moment of week three, but the way they recovered was the bigger story. It appeared that Maks’ leg just gave out and he tumbled while holding Alley, who also went down hard. But they rallied for a respectable 21. Watch: Dancing With the Stars Week 3 – Kirstie and Maks Monday was personal story night on DWTS , with Kirstie and Maks dancing to “Over the Rainbow,” and Alley telling the poignant story of her move to L.A. Who knew she’d have another story to tell right after. “My thigh just gave out. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry,” said Maks, who had to take this really hard as a perfectionist. “It has nothing to do with her.” “Sometimes tragedy leads to an amazingly beautiful moment,” Carrie Ann Inaba said, noting that after the fall “something magical happened.” Bruno added, “You can’t keep good talent down. Once you got up it was better than ever.” Indeed. How did that score of 21 match up? Let’s see: Hines Ward and Kym Johnson: 9-8-8 (25). Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin: 8-9-8 (25). Kendra Wilkinson and Louis Van Amstel: 8-7-8 (23). Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas: 8-7-8 (23). Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 7-7-7 (21). Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff: 7-7-7 (21). Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke: 7-7-7 (21). Romeo and Chelsie Hightower: 7-6-7 (20). Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunskaya: 7-6-7 (20). Wendy Williams and Tony Dovolani: 5-5-5 (15). Who do you be in jeopardy tonight, besides the obvious Wendy? Will Maks and Kirstie emerge from this night stronger and more popular than ever? We know it’s early, but who will win Season 12? Vote below, and stay tuned to THG for more videos and updates from DWTS throughout the day:

Kendra Wilkinson on Dancing With the Stars: A Lukewarm Debut

Considered the odds-on favorite going in, Kendra Wilkinson’s Dancing With the Stars debut did not meet the high expectations set for her last night. We imagine she’ll only get better, and that she’ll have the fan support (Hugh and his thousands of bunnies alone should help) to last a while at least. Boasting that she’s “got moves for a white girl,” the reality star with the stripper past danced the cha cha with partner Louis van Amstel Monday. She promised a hot routine – “classy hot, not club hot” – but lukewarm may be more accurate. The judges had mixed reviews for K-Dubs. Here’s why: DWTS Week One – Kendra Wilkinson & Louis Van Amstel Kendra finished with 18 points, well back of leaders Ralph Macchio and Kristie Alley . You can watch ALL of last night’s DWTS routines here on THG!

Why Yes, Ms. Blankenship Does Still Keep in Touch With The Karate Kid

Am I the only one who finds the strength to get out of bed every morning simply because Mrs. LaRusso from The Karate Kid is back in our lives? Randee Heller — who played Daniel’s mom in the ’80s classic and can currently be seen as Don Draper’s new office-affair-repellent-and-racist secretary, Ms. Blankenship, on Mad Men — spoke to Vulture today and revealed (to the delight of Karate Kid fans the world over) that she’s still in contact with her former screen son, Ralph Macchio. “We’ve been hooking up over e-mails and texting each other ever since the Karate Kid remake,” she said. “[I]t’s always, ‘Hi, mom!’ He calls me mom.” Aw. ‘Karate Kid’ Reboot Has ‘A Different Vibe,’ Ralph Macchio Says

‘They are two different movies with the same story,’ he tells MTV News. By Susannah Gora Ralph Macchio in “The Karate Kid” Photo: Columbia Pictures Thanks to Ralph Macchio , many of us who came of age in the 1980s spent our formative years perfecting our “standing crane” karate technique on the beach, trying to catch flies with chopsticks or searching fruitlessly for a shower-curtain Halloween costume. Macchio’s endearing, uplifting and now-iconic portrayal of Daniel LaRusso, the titular character in 1984’s “The Karate Kid,” helped the film achieve massive commercial success (it grossed more than $90 million in an era when that really meant something and spawned three sequels) and critical respect. The original franchise was a tough act to follow, and yet, Columbia Pictures did just that, with a reboot starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan that debuted at #1 at the box office last week. After attending the remake’s premiere, Macchio said the new film “has a very different vibe.” Indeed, the action has shifted from Southern California to Beijing, the protagonist is a preteen and, uh, nobody’s doing karate (the remake centers on kung fu instead).”It is bigger, the fighting’s more intense, and the landscape is international. It is well-done and effective, as they have stuck to the original’s story points. … They are two different movies with the same story.” He also said Smith and Chan have a nice connection onscreen: “Jaden and Jackie have strong chemistry, which is important.” And what of the fact that the remake focuses on a different martial art altogether? “It’s all kung fu, so the decision to call it ‘The Karate Kid’ is clearly a studio, show-business decision.” Macchio is getting a lot of attention these days from a self-mocking Funny or Die video called “Wax On, F— Off.” The clip is a trailer for a faux documentary, in which the sweet, mild-mannered Macchio tries to jumpstart his career by acting like a bad boy — or his version of it. Featuring cameos from the likes of Molly Ringwald (who deadpans, “He tried to get into the Brat Pack, but he wanted to change the name to the Smile Bunch”), the video “takes shots at me,” Macchio said. “My nice-guy persona, my legacy and youthful-ish looks, and it also comments on scandal and the media.” One image in the video — when Macchio stands in front of the poster of the “Karate Kid” remake and tries, unsuccessfully, to do a karate kick — is both funny and bittersweet. “What makes ‘Karate Kid’ such a timeless story is the relatable human element,” Macchio said of the 1984 film. “We’ve all been the kid attempting to navigate through adolescence and looking for guidance. Having the mentor to help see you through is something we all yearn for when faced with obstacles. Young or old, generations have embraced Daniel and Miyagi — those characters have become a part of everyone’s lives growing up. It’s a privilege to be a part of that magic. Regardless of the success of this remake, the soul, magic and legacy of our original film will always stand.” Susannah Gora is the author of “You Couldn’t Ignore Me If You Tried: The Brat Pack, John Hughes, And Their Impact on a Generation.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Karate Kid.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
