New Amazing Spider-Man Trailer: Lizard Fights and Daddy Issues

Because nothing says “blockbuster of the season” like angsty daddy issues — mingled with a barrage of cool CG-tastic effects and action shots and nerd bait — Sony’s unveiled the latest official trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man , due in theaters July 3. Emphasis this time around is on what made emo-snarky Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) the super-powered jokester hero he is: Namely, losing Ma and Pa Parker as a kid. This is the most complete-feeling trailer we’ve seen so far, with Parker’s voice over literally explaining his character struggle to us over a melange of intriguing action-y bits, interspersed with the mushy stuff with Emma Stone. Photorealistic Lizard eyeballs! Ceiling chases! Web-slinging gone wrong! Most importantly, the effects here show more detail and look much more complete than in trailers and teasers past. Check it out and chime in below. The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters July 3. [via Apple ]

‘Glee’ Bully ‘Keeps The Mask On,’ Max Adler Says

‘He’s definitely not ready to come out yet,’ actor says of his character, who kissed Kurt last week. By Kara Warner Max Adler Photo: MTV News For fans still reeling from last week’s surprise kiss between Kurt and Karovsky on “Glee” and eager to learn more about what’s going down with the conflicted character’s upcoming story line, actor Max Adler told MTV News there’s a rough road ahead. “[This] week [was] a little bit more minor,” Adler said of his character’s arc. “The week after that, November 23, the week of Thanksgiving is a pretty big one for Karovsky. I can’t tell you too much, but I can tell you that his dad gets involved. His dad is called in, played by Daniel Roebuck, [who is] a great actor, a great guy. It all comes to a head.” “It” meaning Karovsky’s constant bullying and increased physical violence against Kurt — which, according to Adler, isn’t going to subside anytime soon. “He keeps the mask on. He’s definitely not ready to come out yet,” Adler said of his character keeping his sexuality a secret. “[The situation] gets more serious, so watch and see what happens.” Outside of the show, the actor has become involved in supporting anti-bullying campaigns and posted his own video in conjunction with the “It Gets Better” project. His video offers insight into the minds of bullies and encourages those who are being bullied to seek help, no matter what. “You do not deserve to be bullied at all,” he tells young people in the clip. “I’ll tell you a little secret: Most bullies are extremely insecure and want to knock you down a peg to feel better about themselves. So being who you are is what’s awesome. It’s what makes you special, interesting, fun to talk to, desirable.” What do you hope happens with Karovsky on “Glee”? Let us know in the comments!

REVIEW: Robotic Tom Cruise Weighs Down Knight and Day

Tom Cruise is no longer cool, a truth he just can’t face — if he could, he’d be cooler. In the opening moments of Knight and Day, Cruise strides through an airport in a uniform of coolness that may as well have been assembled from a checklist: Distinctive Persol sunglasses, an obviously cashmere V-neck sweater layered over a surely-not-Hanes T-shirt, a Baracuta jacket — I’m only checking off the brand names the same way he and his costume department must have. The ringtone on his character’s phone is “Louie, Louie.” And he actually does some of his own stunts, just to show he can. Cruise really may be the hardest-working man in show business right now, but on him (in direct contrast to James Brown), all that sweat just isn’t cool. Once coolness leaves you, how do you get it back?

Top Chef D.C.: 5 Things to Anticipate Based on the Premiere

Top Chef ‘s seventh season brings viewers to Washington D.C., where competition is everyone’s daily bread. After viewing the premiere, I’ve figured out five constants that we have to look forward to this year — unfortunately, they’ve already eliminated John Somerville (the dreadlocked kook who first needed to master uncrossed eyes before taking on puff pastries), so the potential for greatness is somewhat hindered. Still, here are five things.
