Nick Cannon Forced to Resign Radio Gig Due to Health Concerns

Nick Cannon is battling a new health concern and it’s forced the singer/host to cut back on his work load. Cannon Tweeted this morning that doctors found blood in his lungs a few days ago and, as a result, “if I don’t slow down and stop working so hard then it’s a wrap!” Physicians also discovered an enlarged ventricle in Nick’s heart, which follows his hospitalization for kidney problems in early January. As a result of this new scare, Cannon will exit his gig morning show gig at

Demi Moore’s Hospitalization: More Details Emerge

TMZ reports that whip-its were behind actress’ health scare, while People says friends have been worried about Moore for a while. By Katie Byrne Demi Moore Photo: Jason Kempin/ Getty Images While the many reported reasons for Demi Moore’s recent hospitalization have varied from exhaustion to substance abuse, TMZ is now saying nitrous oxide was behind the health scare. According to the website, friends who were on the scene the night of the hospitalization told EMTs the actress was inhaling nitrous oxide from aerosol cans — also known as whip-its — before 911 was called. TMZ’s sources said the actress was exhibiting seizure-like symptoms after inhaling the nitrous. Demi’s hospitalization caps a rough patch for the actress. People magazine also talked to sources close to Moore, who said they’ve been worried about their friend for quite some time. “Really, it was over the last year her friends saw a change,” one source said about her split from husband Ashton Kutcher. “She wasn’t sleeping as well, didn’t seem to be eating and looked really gaunt.” Another source told the mag that Moore’s recent prescription-drug abuse was a factor in the end of her marriage. “It was a sticking point for Ashton,” the source said. “He wanted her to take care of herself and get a hold of things, and she wouldn’t.” Check out photos of Demi and Ashton from happier times. Moore endured a very public and emotional split from Kutcher back in November, publicly announcing the breakup with “sadness and a heavy heart” after months of not-so-quiet rumblings that her husband had been unfaithful. While it was announced earlier this month that Moore would star as feminist icon Gloria Steinem in the upcoming film “Lovelace,” her rep said the setback in her health would prevent her from working on the project. Exclusive: Nick Cannon Talks ‘Healthy Living’

‘I don’t get to eat the things that I like,’ Cannon says in first on-camera interview since his hospitalization. By Nadeska Alexis Nick Cannon Photo: MTV News On Tuesday (January 17) Nick Cannon returned to the office for his first day back to work after being hospitalized for kidney failure two weeks ago. After an initial diagnosis of kidney stones, doctors determined that Cannon’s kidneys were beginning to fail thanks to an overdose of protein, medication he was taking and a lack of proper sustenance. Sitting at his desk, Cannon told MTV News that his road to recovery includes a new diet, which forces him to cut back on some of his favorite eats. “I’m feeling good, I’m in the office, I’m grinding, the only thing that sucks is that I’m on the renal diet,” Cannon said. “It’s all about healthy living and fueling your system, but I don’t get to eat the things that I like to eat. You’ve got to stay hydrated and [eat] fruits and vegetables for breakfast.” After admitting that a more typical breakfast would usually include Lucky Charms cereal (“I can’t have none of that stuff anymore”), Cannon explained that simple foods like oats are now on the menu. “Not even the good oatmeal,” Cannon said. “Real oats, like horse-feed stuff — but it’s cool. I’ve got to start to love it.” According to Cannon, the diet will be implemented in phases, and as his body slowly recovers, he’ll be able to incorporate Lucky Charms and other banned foods into his regimen once again. “Right now I’m still on the strict diet and I can’t have any sodium, but as a couple of weeks go by and everything gets leveled out, then I can start having low sodium,” he said, revealing that hot sauce has been his solution for adding spice to his diet. “I can still have Tabasco sauce, so I’m excited about that because I love hot sauce. I’ll be putting Tabasco sauce on carrots, like, ‘This tastes delicious!’ ” Dietary restrictions aside, the entertainment mogul and father of two is also reassessing his approach to healthy living. His hesitation to visit doctors, for example, is out the door. “I feel 100 percent right now, but obviously the doctors tell you to take it slow,” he said. “This is definitely the first time anything like this has ever happened to me. I’ve always thought that I was doing the right things, but that’s why I now encourage everybody to get checkups, get physicals, know what’s going on in your system and don’t play around with your body. “I always considered myself as someone who was in great shape, but I was doing too much [to my body] so my immune system got confused and just started attacking my kidneys,” he continued. “You look at my Twitter picture and I look like I’m in shape, but I was putting the wrong stuff into my body, speeding all the time, not sleeping and eating properly — it’s all about taking time and really caring about yourself and how you fuel yourself.” Related Artists Nick Cannon

Selena Gomez Does Her Best Britney On ‘Whiplash’

Teen star channels the pop titan as Spears-penned dance tune from Gomez’s album leaks to the Net. By James Dinh Selena Gomez Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/ WireImage It’s a good thing Selena Gomez is feeling much better after her hospitalization last week because the Disney starlet has a string of gigs lined up to promote her soon-to-be-released album, When the Sun Goes Down. And while the LP doesn’t hit stores until June 28, some of the tracks have already surfaced on the Internet, including “Whiplash,” which MTV News has confirmed was co-written by Britney Spears . Gomez, who has gushed to us about her Spears fandom, shows off her best impersonation of the pop princess on “Whiplash.” The dance number begins with sonic flares and effects as the teen songstress sings about a blossoming romance. Gomez then adds a twist to the song by saying a number of phrases in a thick British accent before the pulsating chorus kicks in. “Come on and take me to the other side/ I’m gonna wait, when I look into your eyes,” she croons. “I’m so in love, I think I’m going to crash/ And get whiplash, whiplash, whiplash.” “Whiplash” was reportedly a track that failed to make the cut on Spears’ comeback album, Circus. Among the other songs leaked from When the Sun Goes Down are “That’s More Like It” and “We Own the Night.” Fans will get to see Selena doing more Britney when she tackles some of the pop star’s classic hits on her upcoming tour. Earlier this year, Gomez told MTV News that she was thinking about paying tribute to the singer with “a mash-up of some of her songs.” The Disney starlet and hard-core Britney fan revealed that she looked at Spears’ entire discography in decided what tunes to cover. “We’re gonna do a little tribute. We’re gonna do her hits, ‘ … Baby One More Time,’ and then I think we’re going to try to incorporate ‘Toxic’ and that phase,” she said. “And then we might do some of her recent, new stuff.” Have you heard “Whiplash”? Bret Michaels: Thankful, Ready to Rock Again!

Fans that worry about the return of Bret Michaels to the stage – so soon after his hospitalization for a brain hemmorage in April – can rest easy. That’s the message this singer had in an interview with Entertainment Tonight last night. He said: “I took every precaution. I wouldn’t do it if I thought I was going to die. I fought too hard to live. I want to show people I’m healthy. I feel great. I’m thankful for all the well wishes and everything that came my way, but let’s get back to having a great time. “Let’s get back to rockin’ again.” During the discussion with Samantha Harris, Bret touched on a couple other topics, including the flak he got for a duet with Miley Cyrus . Excerpts are below: On leaving the hospital : “After you spend literally what was almost a month and half in three different ICU units, I was done. I was like, ‘I need to get out of here.’ It becomes extremely depressing, and what gets me up and going out there is making music and being around my family and friends. That’s an awesome feeling.” On the Cyrus controversy : “[Miley] came in and sang a really, really awesome harmony to it. And it caused amazing controversy out of nothing. There was all this, you know, ‘How can they be singing a duet together?’ And I said, ‘It’s not a duet. She’s singing harmonies.’” On getting back to business : “I have a job I love. “Let me tell you, if I had a job that I hated or it sucked, I would’ve milked that brain hemorrhage for another three years. I would’ve gone until the insurance ran out and said, ‘Man I can’t get up.’ “But I’m like, this is what I love to do and I figure if I can do it why not go out there and enjoy myself? And if it mentally helps me to heal, and physically helps me to heal, that’s a good day.”

Gary Coleman’s Ex-Manager Slams Shannon Price, Alleges Foul Play in Actor’s Death

Dion Mial, the former manager of Gary Coleman, is willing to flat out say what many people are secretly thinking – his death was not the result of an accident. “I wholeheartedly believe there was foul play here,” Mial told Radar Online . The 42-year-old died in May after falling and suffering a brain hemorrhage. He was hospitalized and eventually pulled off life support by his ex-wife Shannon Price. Price has come under fire from many of the actor’s friends and associates and friends for her behavior during and after his hospitalization and tragic passing. Selling that Gary Coleman death photo was the final straw. Gary Coleman and Dion Mial many years ago . Mial is the executor of Coleman’s 1999 will, which may or may not be valid (another, more recent will has surfaced in recent days but has not been made public). Executor or not, Dion has no qualms about sharing his thoughts on Price: “The picture that Shannon took in the hospital is much worse than people can see.” “There is nothing covert about her behavior and how she handled this. There are criminal intentions relative to Gary’s death,” Dion added but did not elaborate. Price, whose odd behavior began with her nonchalant 911 call after Coleman’s fall, has blamed Mial for her inability to afford the house she shared with Gary. She has continued to shop around interviews, asking up to $50,000, and in the interviews, has adamantly denied responsibility for Coleman’s fall and death. This is strange, as no one accused Shannon Price of anything, other than being a terrible person (before Mial’s quotes). All of this begs a disturbing question: Did she want Coleman dead, and somehow engineer it?

Bret Michaels Wins ‘Celebrity Apprentice’

‘If it’s sympathy [that helps me win,] I’ll take it,’ Michaels joked on the live finale of ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’ By Jocelyn Vena Bret Michaels Photo: NBC After what has been a difficult few months for Bret Michaels following several health scares , the Poison frontman came out on top as the winner of this season’s “Celebrity Apprentice.” The show’s “boss,” Donald Trump, explained that it was Michaels’ “amazing” creativity and imagination that brought him to the finals, noting that Michaels has “a lot of guts” after battling a brain hemorrhage last month and a warning stroke last week to appear at the live finale of the show. The rocker faced off against fellow finalist Holly Robinson Peete, who was competing on behalf of her charity, the HollyRod Foundation, for autism. Michaels was working for the American Diabetes Association to raise awareness and funds for a disease he’s suffered with since he was a child. The cause became even more personal for Michaels, who had learned that his daughter, Rain, who surprised him with a visit during his last task, is “borderline diabetic.” In their final competition, the contestants had to come up with a new Snapple tea flavor. Peete came up with “Compassion Berry” and Michaels with “Troparocka.” Each finalist had to market their new Snapple flavors with a print ad and a TV commercial. The winner would win the coveted $250,000 prize his or her charity. But before the show went live, fans got to see how each of the campaigns turned out. “Bret is tremendously creative,” former show competitor Darryl Strawberry said in the pre-taped portion of the finale. While Michaels opted to make two commercials, Peete and her team focused on just one. The unfinished product didn’t impress Trump’s daughter and fellow judge, Ivanka. “To become the Celebrity Apprentice, you need to be smart. You need to be driven and you need to have great hair,” Trump joked before cutting back to the pre-taped segments of Peete and Michaels completing their final tasks. Although both Peete and Michaels worked down to the wire, Michaels, who had to work on his commercials down to the last minute without a script, said, “That’s the story of my life: live without a script.” “Right before it’s time to go up, my heart is kind if pounding. But I do know how to impress executives,” Peete said in pre-taped footage before she made her presentation of her final product. Peete’s comical spot showed Snapple scientists as they invented Compassion Berry flavored Snapple. “As a rock singer and performer, you riff off the energy in the room. When you’re given a microphone and asked to talk about a brand … a whole different animal for me,” Michaels said about his commercial, a fast-paced, comical clip featuring Strawberry. In the final boardroom, Michaels and Peete sat down to discuss their task with Trump. Michaels defended his decision to make a diet, sugar-free drink, explaining that the drink is a fitting one for diabetics. Peete, meanwhile, had to defend her choice not to use any of her celebrity pals in her commercial, saying she wanted the focus to be on the charity. In the boardroom, Trump seemed to favor several of Peete’s decisions for her campaign, though he seemed pretty even-keeled in his feelings about both campaigns. Trump pressed former contestant Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders about who she wanted to see win. She flip-flopped her way through the conversation, reluctant to choose, but noted she wouldn’t mind if Michaels won. In the finale’s last half hour, both Peete and Michaels joined their past “Apprentice” contestants on the stage live. Wearing his signature bandana, a vest, jeans and a dress shirt, Michaels graced the stage with his characteristic good spirits, saying, “Let’s have some fun.” Trump asked Peete why she was crying after Michaels entered. “Well, I mean, who in America isn’t [crying]?” she responded. The conversation quickly turned to Michaels’ condition. He explained, “They did a great job. I was really fortunate. We reacted quickly. Great medical team and good people and I cannot thank you and your family [enough] for all the well wishes,” he told Trump. “I’ve become like a medical experiment. Its been crazy for about a month and half. Yes it’s been a risk, but I wanted to be here. I came to win and I’m glad to be on the show. “Here’s what I was going to say: She’s playing the hotness card,” Michaels joked about Peete’s sparkly silver dress. “If it’s sympathy [that helps me win,] I’ll take it. I came here to win. I went in there to win and did everything you asked me to do. I will put my heart and soul into everything in the end. I did want to win but I didn’t want to cut anybody’s throats to do it. I always give everything I got 100 percent. I came here to win.” Peete, however, made her intentions clear that she too wanted to win. “Well a lot of people know or don’t know that Bret and I became very close,” she explained. “There’s no animosity. We talked after every show. So when I heard [about his hospitalization], I was devastated, like we all were. I’m just overjoyed that he’s here, and we all love you Bret. … Yes, in a way, I feel like I lost my momentum. It’s Bret mania. That said, I really do feel like I did a good job.” Moments before the winner was declared, it was announced that Snapple will match the grand prize, so both charities will get the $250,000 donation. But only one person can be named the Celebrity Apprentice. And this season’s celebrity apprentice is survivor Bret Michaels. Bono’s Back Surgery Postpones U2 Tour

New leg of the 360 Tour was set to kick off in Salt Lake City on June 3. By Kelley L. Carter Bono Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage U2 frontman Bono has undergone emergency back surgery at a hospital in Germany, a manager for the group said. Due to the hospitalization, the first date of their tour has been postponed. The 50-year-old singer, whose real name is Paul Hewson, was injured while preparing for the group’s tour. According to a statement on U2’s website , Bono is being treated by neurosurgeon Dr. Joerg Tonn and Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt. “Bono will spend the next few days there, before returning home to recuperate,” the statement read. “Once his condition has been assessed further, a statement will be made regarding the impact on forthcoming tour dates.” Paul McGuinness, the band’s manager, said in an MP3 posted on the website on Friday (May 21) that because of the injury, U2’s 360 Tour stop on June 3 in Salt Lake City has been postponed. After that date, the band was scheduled to play in Anaheim, California, on June 6 and 7, followed by Denver on June 12 and Oakland, California, on June 16. There’s no word whether other dates have been canceled. Bono had recently told The Associated Press that sales of the group’s latest album, No Line on the Horizon, have been somewhat soft, which made for U2’s lowest-selling CD in more than a decade. The band also has said that the massive tour has yet to break even due to the enormous production costs of setting up and designing the 170-ton, $40 million stage. “We hope to get things resolved as soon as possible,” McGuinness said. Send your well-wishes to Bono in the comments. Related Artists Bono U2
