August Ames: Podcast Reveals Shocking New Details of Porn Star’s Suicide

In December of 2017, the adult film world was shocked by the suicide of August Ames , an up-and-coming 23-year-old performer who had recently taken the industry by storm. Ames’ death came on the heels of an ugly social media confrontation prompted by some controversial comments she made about a fellow performer. “Whichever (lady) performer is replacing me tomorrow for @EroticaXNews, you’re shooting with a guy who has shot gay porn, just to let cha know,” Ames tweeted just two days before her passing. “BS is all I can say… Do agents really not care about who they’re representing?… I do my homework for my body.” The tweet prompted immediate backlash from both fans and fellow performers, many of whom accused Ames of homophobia. Ames — who was herself bisexual — quickly clarified her position, tweeting: “NOT homophobic. Most girls don’t shoot with guys who have shot gay porn, for safety. That’s just how it is with me. I’m not putting my body at risk, i don’t know what they do in their private lives.” The charge to denigrate Ames was led by fellow adult performers Jaxton Wheeler and Jessica Drake, who recently claimed she was harassed by Donald Trump . “Performers, by all means, f–k who you want to f–k…but if you’re eliminating folks based on the fact they they (sic) may have done gay or crossover work, your logic is seriously flawed,” Drake tweeted. “Reality is, WE DON’T KNOW who does what with whom when there are no cameras.” Within hours of Drake’s tweet, Ames was found dead in a public park roughly 20 minutes from her home. Her death was ruled a suicide by hanging. At the Adult Video News Awards six weeks later, Ames’ widower, Kevin Moore, was greeted with thunderous applause when he took the stage to defend the right of all performers to work with whomever they choose. Drake was in the audience as fans wearing t-shirts honoring Ames gave Moore a standing ovation. The narrative that formed around Ames’ death was quick and convenient — PC hysteria had led to rampant cyberbullying, which resulted in Ames’ decision to take her own life. Now, however, in a new podcast entitled the Last Days of August , author Jon Ronson argues that the situation is far more complex than originally thought. Throughout her life, Ames was open about her traumatic childhood and her struggles with mental illness. Ronson says her short time in the adult film industry shattered Ames’ psyche, a theory he formed after viewing the final scene that she filmed, which has never been released to the public. “When you think about it, what we were watching in that moment was the moment that she decided to die. That’s what we were watching and it’s awful,” Ronson recently told the New York Post . “That was the truth of it, that was the moment when she reached the point of no return. The Twitter bullying may have been the icing on the cake, as some people described it.” Ronson says the scene very clearly took Ames outside of her comfort zone as she was brutalized by a domineering Russian porn star named Markus Dupree. “On more than one occasion in the footage, Markus forcefully repositions August, which visibly startles her,” Ronson’s co-host, Jessica Misitzis, says in the podcast. “She says ‘Whoa s–t!’ and at one point Markus picks up her pink thong, stretches it around her head, jerks her around by it, and then shoves it in her mouth. “At the end of her scene, August is interviewed by a crew member to establish consent for legal purposes. She’s staring straight into the camera, holding up her check for the day’s work, her makeup’s gone and her hair is pulled back, she looks resigned and emotional and hollow all at once,” Mitzis adds. “‘Were you treated OK?’ she’s asked. And flatly, and quietly she says, ‘Yes.’ For the first time in this footage, all the camera is focused on is August’s face and she seems like she’s verging on tears.” In text messages viewed by Ronson and Mitzis, Ames complains to a friend that Dupree went “full on War Machine,” a reference to the adult perfomer who assaulted Christy Mack  in 2014. Six weeks after filming that scene, Ames took her own life. The Last Days of August is currently available on Audible.

Penny Marshall Dies; Film and TV Legend Was 75

Sad news out of Hollywood today, as actress, comedian, and filmmaker Penny Marshall has passed away at the age of 75. According to TMZ, Marshall passed away due to complications from diabetes. Born in the Bronx in 1943, Marshall first gained fame for her work as Laverne DeFazio on the 1970s sitcom Laverne & Shirley . The show ran for seven seasons and made Marshall a household name. But it may be her work behind the camera for which Marshall is best known to younger audiences. In the ’80s and ’90s, Marshall directed a string of wildly successful films, including such modern classics as Big , Awakenings,  and A League of Their Own . She was a frequent collaborator with her brother Garry Marshall, himself an iconic figure for his work on both sides of the camera. A prolific artist up to her final days, Marshall has appeared in cameo roles in The Simpsons, Entourage , and Sam & Cat , the Nickelodeon sitcom that first introduced the world to Ariana Grande. Growing up on the Bronx’s Grand Concourse along such future luminaries as Neil Simon, Calvin Klein, and Paddy Chayefsky, Marshall was surrounded by show business from a young age. She eventually married one of her childhood neighbors, Rob Reiner, though the couple divorced after ten years. “When Rob Reiner and I were children, we lived across the street from each other. We never met because the Grand Concourse was a busy street, and we were too young to cross it,’’ Marshall said in 2012 interview. “He went to PS 8, I went to 80. He moved when he was 7. His father, Carl, was one of the stars on Your Show of Shows, and he was the most famous person in the neighborhood. He was also known for giving out the best Halloween candy.” Insiders say Penny lapsed into a deep depression in the past two years, following the death of her best friend Carrie Fisher and her brother Garry. Family and friends were reportedly concerned that Marshall had stopped properly caring for herself, but at this time it’s not known if anything could have been done to prevent her passing. Our thoughts go out to Marshall’s friends and family during this difficult time. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2018: In Memoriam

90 Day Fiance Sneak Peek: Colt Calls Larissa Bats–t Crazy

Even before Larissa exposed Colt's cheating this week, this couple was in the running for this season's most dramatic and most controversial couple. This sneak peek of Sunday's new episode shows exactly why. Colt responds to Larissa's complaint about his wandering eye by telling her that maybe she's just “bats–t crazy.” On last week's episode of 90 Day Fiance , Larissa got into a huge argument with Colt's cousin over her motivations for marrying him. Now, the two are going out to dinner with a couple of Colt's friend, but it looks like a tense outing. Larissa is pissed with Colt. “Colt doesn't compliment me,” Larissa laments to the camera. “A real man shouldn't act like this.” “It's ridiculous,” Larissa declares. What seems to get under her skin isn't just that Colt doesn't compliment her even though she put hours into her appearance. Even when she brings it up, he instead gets defensive instead of just apologizing and assuring her that she's beautiful. Colt's friends don't seem quite sure what to make of her, referring to Larissa as a “fiery spark.” Meanwhile, Colt pulls his usual shtick — which was rubbing people the wrong way long before their current mess spilled over onto social media. Larissa gets upset, and Colt adopts a painfully patronizing tone in an effort to convince the viewers at home that he's so reasonable, so rational . In a voice intended to convey that he has the patience of mountains and the intellect of every great philosopher, Colt speaks to the camera. “I can't believe that Larissa is so angry at me,” he says, sounding astonished. This has happened before, and she is often upset over this particular issue. Doing his best to fill his voice with weariness, Colt says: “I don't understand.” Larissa spins a theory about why Colt doesn't seem to have the energy to say something nice to her when she gets all dolled up. “You don't give me compliments,” she guesses. “Because you talk to other woman.” These words, given this week's scandal, were oddly prophetic. “You give her attention,” Larissa accuses. It can be difficult to hear a loved one compliment others but not you. Colt explains that, somehow, a long day at work leaves him too emotionally drained to give her compliments or think about doing so. He then suggests that their relationship problems are Larissa's fault. “Have you ever thought that maybe it's you?” Colt asks confrontationally. Colt then accuses: “You're bats–t crazy.” That is not a nice way to speak to … absolutely anyone, let alone one's fiancee. And there may be something more sinistar at work. There exists a term: gaslighting , which is making someone believe that they're crazy, usually so that they'll believe only you will love them. While the word has been overused in recent years, what Colt is doing in this video is giving off majorly bad vibes. Compliment your fiancee. Compliment your girlfriend. Compliment your friends . (If this doesn't come naturally to you, pick one thing that was a choice — from hairstyle to leggings to shoes, etc, to say something nice about every day) Earlier episodes made Larissa seem like she was overreacting to Colt complimenting strange women. With the revelation that he's e cheater who allegedly DMs women about Larissa being nuts for sympathy … maybe Larissa was the only one saying things clearly. Just because someone gets emotional and flustered doesn't mean that they're wrong about everything.

Jersey Shore Recap: Playing with Jewish Barbie

For most of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 2, fans have been watching Ronnie get pounded on by girlfriend Jen Harley . The two have a very unhealthy relationship. On Thursday night, however, we were left to wonder whether this muscle-bound reality star stepped out on his violent baby mama and pounded another woman. With his penis. In her vagina. Did he really cheat on Harley ?!? The situation to do so presented itself because Angelina brought along her friend Lindsay (aka “Jewish Barbie”) for a night out with the cast in Jersey. While Pauly D and Vinny most certainly seemed interested in this special guest, Jewish Barbie set her sights on Ronnie from the start. That much was clear. She Twerked for him. She joked about who’s bed she’d be sleeping in that night. She got Ronnie’s mojo going, big time. During these interactions, though, Ronnie was also texting/fighting with Harley. They starting having issues when she sent him photos of his ex (possibly Sammi Giancola?) to show him how happy women were without him. Ouch , right?!? Harley also allegedly told Ronnie she was going to find another guy to raise their daughter — all over text message! Ignoring Snooki’s advice to “pass [Jewish Barbie] off” to Pauly or Vinny, Ronnie decided to tell Lindsay that the group had a hot tub at their place. Once they arrived there, the girls and guys mostly separated. Upstairs, the girls played a game of “F-ck, Marry, Kill,” where Lindsay revealed she was interested in banging Ronnie. D’uh. Meanwhile, the men were downstairs busting Ronnie’s chops about the entire ordeal. They were totally joking around, but when they realized Ronnie was actually considering hooking up with Jewish Barbie,” they tried to talk him out of it. “Women in hot tubs are Ronnie’s Kryptonite, okay?” The Situation told the camera. “When Jewish Barbie comes out in her bathing suit, he will be left powerless.” Yup. That’s exactly what transpired. As the episode came to a close and the credits rolled, Ronnie and Lindsay went to his room and he told her she could sleep in his bed. “There goes my life,” he joked before the the episode faded to black. Elsewhere this week… Snooki thought she was pregnant! She got this idea in her head because she actually vomited after many days in a row of drinking. It’s true: Snooki vomited! “Nicole never throws up,” JWOWW said in shock, leading her and her friend to assume Nicole was expecting. So they ran out to get a pregnancy test. “Me and Jionni are trying to have a baby, so maybe I’m pregnant!” Snooki said to the camera. “If it says no, I’m gonna be really upset. I really want a baby.” (Editor’s Note: Maybe you shouldn’t have been drinking SO hard if you were trying. Just saying/judging.) In the end, the test came back negative, and Snooki was bummed. “Why did I throw up like that?” she wondered, apparently forgetting that she had been gulping down vodka seltzers for four days straight. Mississippi Officers Enter Man’s Apartment Without Permission, Orders Him To Stop Filming Them [Video]

Cardravious Crump hosted a Halloween party at his moms house in Tate County, Mississippi on Sunday, and felt that all was well — until two deputy officers came into the apartment unannounced just an hour after the soiree was over. Crump and his mom discovered the policemen roaming around their kitchen — and when they asked what the issue was, the cops mentioned underage drinking, even though the party had already ended. Cardravious’ mother told reporters , “I asked him nicely to step out. I said, ‘Well then, I can talk to you, but can you step outside? [They refused] so I cursed him out. I was like, ‘You gonna get the [expletive] out my house ’cause I did not tell you to come in here.” Crump took out his phone during the altercation and cops responded, “You can turn that off. You can turn that off. You’re gonna turn that off, get that out of my face. I just told you to turn it off. I’m not gonna tell you again.” Cardravious told reports that he didn’t know what the cop was reaching for when he reached around his side, which is why he started recording. Even Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance said the deputy was wrong to ask Crump to turn off the camera. Luckily no one was hurt or arrested.
