After six years of marriage and 14 years as a couple, Brandon and Leah Jenner have reached the shocking decision to go their separate ways. The couple announced the sad news Monday, via an open letter to fans and the media. “Hi Everybody, It is with love in our hearts that we feel it’s time to share some personal news with you all,” the statement began. “After celebrating fourteen beautiful years together, we have lovingly come to the decision to end the romantic aspect of our relationship.” “We are deeply proud of the life we’ve cultivated together and are truly grateful for the bond of friendship we hold and cherish today.” “It is stronger than ever.” Based on their comments, it seems Brandon and Leah have agreed to part ways on mutually amicable terms. The couple went on to assure fans that they remain committed to making the happiness of their daughter, Eva, their top priority: “Even though we have chosen to separate as a couple, we still love one another very, very much and remain a major part of each other’s lives.” The statement noted that they will remain “best friends, family and loving parents to our daughter.” “There has been no lying or cheating or fighting that prompted this change, just an expansion of our individual evolution which has inspired us to support each other in a new way.” That’s a positive spin on it. “We are still very much a loving family and are bonded by a deep connection that is rooted in love.” The Jenners went on to assure fans that any information they see that contradicts this official statement should be disregarded as a fabrication. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times , Fox explains that regardless of what she says or does, fans view her as shallow because of her appearance. “People anticipate a shallowness [from me],” she says. “They anticipate a self-centeredness and a lack of self-awareness,” she continues. “It doesn’t … matter what I say, or how eloquent a speaker I may be, or how positive my intentions may be. I’m going to be made in what people desire me to be.” She talks about how the stereotype has prevailed for decades: people just can’t grasp the notion that a beautiful woman could be smart, or emotionally complex. “You know how women that are always cast in James Bond movies are pinups but their job in the movies is always being a marine biologist or neuroscientist?” she asks. “I think people react to me that way.
