Ryan Seacrest Re-Ups For Two More Years Of ‘Ameircan Idol’

Seacrest will make $15 million a year through 2014 season. By Gil Kaufman Ryan Seacrest Photo: Getty Images Ryan Seacrest learned many lessons
at the foot of his late mentor, Dick Clark
. One of them appears to be: Don’t rock the boat. Especially if it’s a eight-figure million luxury yacht. That’s the long way of saying that Seacrest has inked a two-year deal to stay with “American Idol” for a reported cool $15 million a year. “For the last 11 seasons, I’ve had the privilege to be a part of one of television’s most iconic shows. It’s been a wild ride, and I’m excited for my journey with ‘American Idol to continue,” Seacrest said in a statement. “The legions of fans, amazingly talented contestants, judges, and producers, along with the hard working ‘Idol’ crew, impress me every time we go on air and make hosting the show a dream job.” Seacrest has hosted the show since its launch in 2002 and though the judging panel has undergone a series of overhauls over the past four seasons, the genial entrepreneur has been the one constant in the mix. “Ryan is one of a kind,” said Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment at Fox. “His ability to engage the viewers, keep the contestants at ease during intense moments and adapt to any situation, especially during the live shows, solidifies him as the absolute best in the business. He is an integral part of why ‘American Idol’ is a true phenomenon, and we can’t imagine doing this show without him.” Of course, Seacrest has multiple irons in the fire besides his “Idol” gig, from the various Kardashian-related shows on the E! network, to his hosting and producing gig on “E! News,” red carpet awards show coverage, morning radio show and an upcoming pact to launch his own entertainment cable channel this summer called AXS TV
. He’s also finishing up a deal with NBCUniversal that will include a gig as part of this summer’s Olympics coverage. Related Photos Most Shocking ‘American Idol’ Exits

‘Dancing With The Stars’: Katherine Jenkins Hits High Note Again

Gladys Knight earned the lowest scores on Motown night, while Jaleel White and Jenkins each earned a pair of 10s. By Kelley L. Carter Derek Hough and Maria Menounos Photo: ABC Monday night’s telecast of “Dancing With the Stars” opened with R&B legend Smokey Robinson crooning his Motown hit “Tears of a Clown.” Then Martha Reeves came in singing her hit with the Vandellas “Dancing in the Streets.” Then came the (current lineup of the) Temptations singing their classic hit “Get Ready.” And Motown founder Berry Gordy was in the audience, to boot. It was the perfect way to intro Motown night — this week’s theme — for the popular ABC dance reality competition. This week’s scores included bonus points for a group cha-cha dance marathon. At the top of the pack this week were Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas. The opera singer once again impressed judges with her moves. She and Ballas danced to the Temptations’ “I Can’t Get Next to You,” and the judges thought she continued to deliver. Her prize? She earned a pair of 10s in her initial score for an almost perfect score. “Tonight, girlfriend, you let it loose. That was amazing!” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said. 29/30 + 10 = 39. Here’s how the others fared: Jaleel White and Kym Johnson The former child actor jumped right back near the top of the leaderboard. He danced the cha-cha to “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” and the judges found his movements to be sharp and filled with attitude “You’re back!” head judge Len Goodman told him. He also was rewarded with a pair of 10s from the judges. 29/30 + 8 = 37 William Levy and Cheryl Burke The Latin soap opera star danced the rumba, and judges loved the steam that came from the pair. Their ending was over-the-top sexual (they were laid out on top of one another on the dance floor), and the judges — and the live audience, gauging from the screams and hooting and hollering — enjoyed it thoroughly. “William! Absolute and utter filth. And I loved every minute of it!” judge Bruno Tonioli said. “On behalf of all of the women out there, I thank you,” Inaba said. Goodman thought it was a bit on the raunchy side. 27/30 + 9 = 36 Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd The football star danced the foxtrot to a Temptations track, and the judges were impressed by his showmanship. “Donald, you are a showman! Confidence! Power! Your performances get better and better. You should be in the theater,” Tonioli said. 27/30 + 7 = 34 Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy The actress danced the Viennese waltz to Robinson’s lush hit “Ooo Baby, Baby,” and judges thought her lines were beautiful. “I see poetry starting to happen in your movements. I see the artistry there,” Inaba told her. 24/30 + 6= 30. Maria Menounos and Derek Hough The TV journalist danced the foxtrot to a Reeves’ hit, and even though she made a few missteps, judges thought she pulled it off quite nicely. “You lost your footing, but you caught up quite brilliantly,” Tonioli told her. 26/30 + 4 = 30. Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower The Disney star danced to a Robinson hit, and the judges thought his moves were more suitable for a hip-hop dance — his specialty — than the ballroom. Goodman said that the execution of his routine was “clipped and jerky.” “In general, I thought your moments were a bit over-exaggerated tonight and it made it hard for me to watch,” Inaba said. 23/50 + 5= 28. Gladys Knight and Tristan McManus The soul legend took the stage first — kind of fitting, considering she recorded with the Detroit label — and she performed the rumba. Judges thought her routine was passionate and said her star quality was undeniable. They thought her rumba should have been a bit steamier and noted how she lost it a bit at the end. “You’re not the best dancer, but I’ll tell you what you are … Gladys, you are the most charismatic dancer, I’m telling you. It is so appealing,” head judge Len Goodman said. “It’s just easy like Sunday morning!” 21/30 + 3 = 24.

DeAndre Brackensick: A Captivating American Idol Performance?

Captivating. Super great. Amazing. These were all descriptions the American Idol judges bestowed on DeAndre Brackensick last night, following his take on the 1980s Debarge track “I Like It.” Are you on board with these praiseworthy critiques of Brackensick’s falsetto? Or are you wondering just what Jennifer, Steven and Randy were smoking prior to DeAndre taking the stage? Judge the hair-flipping singer’s latest performance now: DeAndre Brackensick – “I Like It” It’s safe to say DeAndre was not our favorite. But, then again, compared to Skylar Laine and her version of ” Wind Beneath My Wings ,” everyone was singing for second this week.

Jaleel White Downplays Dancing With the Stars Tiff

Jaleel White wants to set the record straight about the allegedly loud and heated fight with Kym Johnson , his Dancing With the Stars partner, in rehearsal. Asked in a radio interview about it, White downplayed the incident, but first said that he couldn’t believe how much celebrity gossip publications care. “Let me tell you something about this show,” he told MYfm’s Valentine in the Morning. “I had no concept what a tabloid feeding frenzy this show is.” Jaleel White & Kym Johnson – Rumba (DWTS Week 3) It is wild how much tabloid attention it gets for such family friendly entertainment, but it is among TV’s biggest shows. In any case, White is uneasy about it. “We get to rehearsal and theres like 20 idiots in the back…with cameras and videos,” the 35-year-old actor said. “It sucks because this is our real lives.” As for the Us Weekly report that he shouted at Johnson to the point where producers had to break up a fight before it escalated, White says that’s BS. “We definitely had a disagreement last week,” he explained. “But there was no fight broken up. Our disagreement was over some of the choreography.” “She didn’t understand who Stefan Urquelle was.” Stefan, of course, being the nerdy Steve Urkel’s more suave alter ego, who recurred several times throughout Family Matters’ nine-year run. The contestants had to dance routines inspired by the most memorable year of their lives; White picked the year that Steve first turned into Stefan. The routine (above) earned the pair high marks and moved Jaleel to tears (below) afterward. Hey, Dancing With the Stars brings out the emotions! Jaleel White Cries on Dancing With the Stars

Jaleel White Denies Abuse of Bridget Hardy

Jaleel White is speaking out against claims by his former girlfriend Bridget Hardy , who told Star magazine that White verbally and physically abused her in 2010. “The allegations made against me back in 2010 have suspiciously resurfaced in time to coincide with my new show on Syfy and Dancing With the Stars ,” he said. “Bridget Hardy has consistently shown a knack for timing throughout our child custody disputes,” insists Jaleel White , the father of her two-year-old daughter. “When you’re doing well in life, it’s par for the course for [people] to try and knock you down. But when the individual is also the mother of your child, it is particularly hurtful.” “I have co-parented in peace and compliance with the law for over two years.” The Dancing With the Stars competitor went on to elaborate on the relationship he’s had with Hardy, who he says he hasn’t seen physically in almost six months. “In the summer of 2010, my 11 month old daughter was taken to Seattle, Washington for what was supposed to have been a planned vacation and as Ms. Hardy declared herself in her recent exclusive interview, she told me emphatically, ‘I’m done.'” “Our relationship came to an end. “Ms. Hardy has lived in the greater Los Angeles area for over eight years. My daughter was born in California and, thanks to our judicial process, my daughter remains a California resident. Up until now, we have had a workable joint custody arrangement.” “As much as I would love to go detail for detail refuting Ms. Hardy’s claims about the specifics of what was our relationship, the family court judge made it very clear to me any public discussion of our case and ordeal would be held against me in a court of law.” “Ms. Hardy’s attempts at greater sums of money beyond child support have continued now for two years. And I guess my most recent successes have been too much for her to stomach. I’m assuming I have not received her votes these past Monday nights.”
