New Kids On The Block: Guest-Starring On Fuller House!

Today is a great day for ’90s children everywhere. Fuller House announced that New Kids On The Block will stop by the Tanner home this coming season. Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber and Candace Cameron Bure all wore shirts bearing the name of the boy band, which the show’s account posted to Twitter. “@candacecbure @JodieSweetin @andreabarber got The Right Stuff to welcome some special guest stars! @NKOTB #NKOTBFH!” Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight and Jonathan Knight might be the spin-off’s answer to The Beach Boys, who were regular guest stars on the original series, thanks to Uncle Jesse (Elvis wasn’t availabe for obvious reasons). Bure brought this up during a February interview with Rotten Tomatoes. “We never got New Kids on the Block,” she said. Barber concurred.  “We really want New Kids on the Block though. We’ll put our vote for that,” she added. Guess who else is popping by the house on season two?  Dr. Jason Seaver from Growing Pains ! It won’t be a crossover episode (I could do without an appearance from Bure’s fanatical brother, Kirk Cameron), but Alan Thicke will no doubt be entertaining as heck. “Fuller House is over its growing pains. Renewed season 2. See you there. See me on it,” Thicke tweeted, tagging both Bure and Bob Saggett. Thicke wouldn’t give away much, but he did tell E! that he plays someone who is set up with one of D.J.’s friends. John Stamos, who serves as the series’ executive producer, divulged a little bit about season two, which is set to premiere later this year on Netflix. “There are a few guest stars that could be surprises for everybody that I’m working on, but as far as the show, we’re just in a better place to make a good, solid sitcom now,” he said. Ok, important question: What song (if any) will NKOTB play?  Probably “The Right Stuff” but I’m hoping for “Step By Step.” View Slideshow: 90s Boy Bands: Where Are They Now?

New Kids On The Block’s Jordan Knight Releases Dance Track ‘Let’s Go Higher’

‘With the New Kids, I loved the ballads. I was all about ballads. I’m not really into ballads anymore,’ Knight says. By Jocelyn Vena Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ Getty Images Jordan Knight’s new single “Let’s Go Higher” was released Tuesday (March 1), and it’s a chugging club tune about hitting the dance floor with that special someone. The New Kids on the Block singer hooked up with onetime Lady Gaga collaborator Colby O’Donis, who wrote the song with the Knight in mind and felt it was the perfect track to re-launch his solo career. “I had a track and I really liked this track. I needed a writer to see if they could put some good idea over it,” Knight said of another song he had been working on. “I was always talking about Colby O’Donis. He’s got a great vibe,” he recalled, adding that O’Donis had something else in mind for the pop star. “He sent [it] and it was produced by him in his studio, so the production wasn’t exactly where I wanted it. But I could recognize the song as being a really good song with a great hook and great message,” he said. Knight first hooked up with the songwriter a year ago before reworking the track with Marcus Siskind. “I’ve been kind of working on a solo record for a year and a half and it just didn’t feel like it was all put together,” Knight explained. “It all fell together now at a great time.” Knight is soaking up the fun, pop vibe that has taken over mainstream radio and will certainly find its way onto his next album. “Higher” is the lead single off Knight’s May solo album release, Unfinished, which drops the same month that New Kids on the Block is set to hit the road with the Backstreet Boys on their highly anticipated joint venture. “There’s a few ballads. It’s not ballad heavy. It does represent well the tone of the album,” he said. “The tone is definitely upbeat. I think a lot of people thought that I would do mid-tempos — Jordan’s the crooner romantic guy — but it’s not really that kind of music. I honestly prefer upbeat music. I prefer doing upbeat music. With the New Kids, I loved the ballads. I was all about ballads. I’m not really into ballads anymore,” he laughed. Related Artists Jordan Knight

BSB Debut NKOTBSB Song ‘Don’t Turn Out The Lights’

Brian Littrell and AJ McLean preview track on Backstreet Boys cruise. By Jocelyn Vena The New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ Getty Images NKOTBSB fans have a lot to look forward to in 2011. The guys have announced they’ll be hitting the road for a tour , and now comes a little preview of a song the groups recorded together. On Monday (December 20), Perez Hilton posted a video of the Backstreet Boys debuting “Don’t Turn Out the Lights” for fans during their cruise earlier this month. “A song by NKOTBSB,” AJ McLean told the room of screaming fans, with Brian Littrell by his side. “I’m gonna tell you guys, ‘Don’t turn out the lights now.’ Press play.” The up-tempo jam features vocals from McLean, Littrell and Jordan Knight about still being in love with someone. The guys sing, “I know we haven’t been getting along/ I don’t want to say goodbye/ Memories come flooding back/ I love you like that/ We can get it back again/ Don’t turn out the lights now.” After cutting off the song early, McLean explained, “We can’t play the whole thing, just ’cause with the tour coming up. It’s a sample.” Despite pressure from both McLean and Littrell, their lawyer refused to let them play the sample again. An official release date or other information about the track was not available. Back in November, all nine members of NKOTBSB teased a possible collaboration of new material, and not just mash-ups , in an interview they gave shortly after . “It’s tough getting these guys in the studio, these young cats,” Joey McIntyre shared . ” Well, it’s honestly, it is tough to get everybody together. Yes, we have lots of great intentions.” Do you like what you’ve heard of “Don’t Turn Out the Lights”? Give us your review in the comments below! Related Artists Backstreet Boys New Kids on the Block

New Kids On The Block, Backstreet Boys Talk Upcoming Tour At AMAs

NKOTB’s Jordan Knight tells MTV News that their American Music Awards By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Tim Kash Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage Superstar boy bands New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys , who each spent a segment of the ’90s causing teen-girl hysteria with their squeaky-clean party jams and baby-faced good looks, are now joining forces for a U.S. tour in June. On Sunday night (November 21), the country got a taste of what an NKOTBSB show will look like when the nine-member collective closed the 2010 American Music Awards . Before hitting the AMA stage, the fellas told MTV News that the collaborative awards-show production mirrors the staging of their upcoming trek. “It’s gonna be exactly what they see on the tour,” NKOTB’s Jordan Knight said of the show, in which the guys took turns belting pop smashes by both groups. “I think a lot of people, when they hear New Kids are going on tour with the Backstreet Boys, they think we’re gonna, like, [face] off; we’re gonna be some kind of rivalry. But that’s not the case. They’re gonna see tonight onstage that it’s a collaboration, that we get along … and you’ll see it on our performance.” The amiable rapport among the crew is definitely evident when the guys talk about each band’s contribution to pop music. Members of NKOTB and BSB maintain that the groups have a symbiotic relationship: The New Kids paved the way, and the Boys kept the boy-band phenomenon alive. “In many ways, they contemporize us. They brought us to the forefront,” NKOTB’s Joey McIntyre explained. “When the Backstreet Boys came out, at first you’re like, ‘OK, these guys are kinda doing their thing.’ To get the credit that somehow we started [the boy-band trend] – which we didn’t, ’cause there’s New Edition and the Jackson 5 and this tradition’s being going on forever – they kinda shed a light on what we did too, and that’s nice.” Nick Carter added that the “Larger Than Life” crooners were amped to hit the road with their ’90s teen-idol forefathers. “We appreciate and respect everything that these guys have done for the music industry, and now it’s just great to be together,” he said. “I think that’s what’s awesome.” NKOTB’s resident bad boy Danny Wahlberg compared the team-up to a successful partnership straight out of Hollywood. “It’s Rocky and Apollo taking out Mr. T,” he quipped, as the fellas laughed.
