Source: Kevin Winter / Getty Rap’s Cinderella Cardi B beat out a tough Best Rap Album crowd to take home the gramophone on Sunday night and in the process, she made a little bit of history too. With her win, Cardi B is the first solo female rapper to ever take home the crown of Best Rap Album. The only other woman to have claimed to the award is Lauryn Hill who won as a member of The Fugees with The Score in 1997. The union of Hill and Cardi seems to be coming up plenty over the last year and a half. Like Hill, Cardi is the only other female rapper to have a solo No. 1 song on the Billboard chart as “Bodak Yellow” assumed the top spot in 2017 as “Doo Wop (That Thing)” did in 1998. The Grammys created the Best Rap Album category in 1995 with Naughty By Nature taking home the initial award. The category has been dominated by Eminem and Kanye West. Em has six wins in the category and four of Kanye’s first five albums, beginning with The College Dropout in 2005 have won the most Best Rap Album Grammys. Source: Kevin Winter / Getty Michelle Obama’s Book Sold More Than 750,000 Copies On Its First Day First day sales for Michelle Obama’s “Becoming” topped 725,000 copies, making it one of the year’s biggest debuts. According to the Associate Press , that the figures include sales and pre-orders for the former first lady’s memoir include hardcover, audio and e-books editions for the United States and Canada. The book follows Obama’s journey from Chicago’s South Side to the White House, and many reviews have been positive. The Washington Post praised it as “impressive balance in telling the truth of her challenges while repeatedly acknowledging her lucky life.” The book was released earlier this week and Crown (publisher) also announced that it had raised the book’s print run from 1.8 million copies to 2.6 million following the successful release. “Becoming” had the biggest opening of any books in 2018 by Crown’s parent company (Penguin Random House).

(Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images) Laura Helm Sued Usher For Knowingly Transmitting The Herpes Virus To Her Usher said the details in his herpes exposure case are so sensitive and potentially embarrassing that he needs a gag rule in place to protect his good name. That’s according to a new motion from the “Caught Up” singer, which asks the judge presiding over his herpes exposure case to seal evidence in the case going forward, according to the motion, which was obtained by BOSSIP. Usher said in court papers that as a public figure, he has a lot to lose if details about his sexual activities, intimate partners and medical records come out as part of the case. We exclusively revealed that plaintiff Laura Helm sued Usher earlier this year, accusing the 40-year-old Atlanta native of knowingly exposing her to herpes simplex during two sexual encounters in 2017. Usher has denied Helm’s allegations and said she assumed any risk when she agreed to unprotected sex with him. Usher insists that if the info were made public, it would cause himself, Helm and third-party witnesses “harm, annoyance and/or embarrassment,” according to Usher’s motion. He said he is especially concerned that the media and others will get the case info and use it for profit. Usher used a similar tactic in a separate, simultaneous herpes exposure case against him involving a woman named Quantasia Sharpton and an anonymous man. The father of two said his legal team tried to reach out to Helm and her lawyer outside of court about a potential protective order, but couldn’t come to an agreement. The news comes as a judge denied Usher’s request to file the motion for the protective order under seal, arguing that all court records should be available for the public to see, and Usher failed to prove how he would be harmed if he filed the gag order motion publicly. Helm hasn’t responded to Usher’s motion, and a judge has yet to rule on his request.

The R&B singer will drop his ninth studio album called A at midnight on Friday. He revealed the news on social media and by the looks of the trailer, it’s inspired by his hometown of Atlanta. Usher finds himself at the roller skating rink, the strip club and flying private jets in the short clip. The project is produced by Atlanta’s very own Zaytoven so the trap beats are sure to be bountiful. Usher revealed the track listing and cover art for the album on Instagram, and he also posted previews for each song. This will be Usher’s first album since Hard II Love , which dropped in 2016 and debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 . Twitter already seemed to be reacting to his latest album with mixed expectations. Usher has been doing to much to try and be “hip” his last few albums. Remember how Katt Williams roasted radio personality Wanda Smith within a gnarled fingertip of her life earlier this week? Well, rumor had it that later that evening, her husband and his handgun made sure to let Katt know a thing or two about talking crazy to his wife. Neither Wanda nor Katt would discuss the incident at length, or even really acknowledge that it had happened at all.
