Source: Kevin Winter / Getty Michelle Obama’s Book Sold More Than 750,000 Copies On Its First Day First day sales for Michelle Obama’s “Becoming” topped 725,000 copies, making it one of the year’s biggest debuts. According to the Associate Press , that the figures include sales and pre-orders for the former first lady’s memoir include hardcover, audio and e-books editions for the United States and Canada. The book follows Obama’s journey from Chicago’s South Side to the White House, and many reviews have been positive. The Washington Post praised it as “impressive balance in telling the truth of her challenges while repeatedly acknowledging her lucky life.” The book was released earlier this week and Crown (publisher) also announced that it had raised the book’s print run from 1.8 million copies to 2.6 million following the successful release. “Becoming” had the biggest opening of any books in 2018 by Crown’s parent company (Penguin Random House).
It’s a girl for Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade! It’s also a major surprise for anyone who has been following the lives of this actress and her basketball-playing husband. On Thursday evening, Union shared three precious new photos on her Instagram page, announcing to the world that she and Wade had welcome a daughter via surrogate “A LOVELY DAY,” wrote Union, adding by way of confirmation: “We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that our miracle baby arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. “Welcome to the party sweet girl!” This is the first child for Union, who has been very open in the past about her numerous miscarriages . Wade, meanwhile, has three sons (Xavier Zechariah, 5; Zion Malachi Airamis; 11; and Zaire Blessing Dwyane, 16) from a previous relationship — and he and Union are also raising his 17-year old nephew. In the memoir she released last year, “We’re Going to Need More Wine,” Union revealed she “had eight or nine miscarriages,” writing in the biography: “For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant – I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle or coming out of an IVF cycle.” The couple got married in August of 2014 after dating for many years. Even after enduring those three years of failed IVF cycles and being so very bloated from the hormones at nearly all times, Union explained in her memoir that she and Wade “remain bursting with love and ready to do anything to meet the child we’ve both dreamed of.” And that day has finally now arrived. No information is available about the surrogate, as we would expect. And neither Wade nor Union revealed the name of their daughter nor any of her measurements. But who cares, right?!? She’s here!!!! Added Union on Instagram, quoting song lyrics: When I wake up in the mornin’ love/And the sunlight hurts my eyes/And there’s something without warning/Love Bears heavy on my mind. Then I look at you/And the world’s alright with me/Just one look at you/And I know its gonna be/A lovely day. Other celebrities have also gone the surrogate route to have kids. Most notably to most readers, as we assume, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West used this method in order to being their third child into the world due to complications related to Kim’s first two pregnancies. No, we’re referring to Francia Raisa, the woman who made a serious bid for the title of BFF of the Year by donating her kidney to Selena. It seems that like millions of others, Francia is not thrilled with the idea of a Jelena reconciliation. In fact, she’s downright against it. The reason, according to Radar Online, is simple: Francia feels that Justin will hurt Selena again, and she’s sick of consoling her friends for making the same mistake over and over. “Selena’s friends bore the brunt of her sadness when Bieber broke her heart time after time over all these years,” a source close to the situation tells Radar. “Everyone knows this reunion is very bad news,” the insider adds. But while Selena’s inner circle is apparently unanimously opposed to the rekindled romance, no one has voiced their opposition more loudly than Francia: “But its Francia who’s the most vocal — she’s saying she didn’t donate a body organ to save Selena’s life only for her to go and ruin it by running back to him,” says the source. We’re not sure how the rules work on that. If you donate an organ to someone, does that give you power over them for the rest of their life? If so, we need to get on this biological gift bandwagon. We don’t really need two kidneys, but we do need autonomy over the lives of our friends and family.
Not everything this year has gone as Caitlyn Jenner had hoped. True, she might be dating a hot blonde 21-year-old , but Cait has been thoroughly disappointed by Trump . And she’s also become estranged from various Kardashians — from her family. Caitlyn is publicly lamenting that the Kardashians want her out of their lives. Caitlyn Jenner spoke about her memoir, The Secrets of My Life , and its detrimental effect on her relationship with the Kardashians at the Cambridge Union on Monday night. And this sounds pretty rough. “It’s been a little bit tough over the past couple of years on the Kardashian side.” Yeah, we’d say so. Especially since April, when the memoir was published. “To be honest, I don’t talk to them anymore. Kim I haven’t talked to in a year.” That tracks, more or less. Back in September, we learned that Caitlyn and Kim hadn’t spoken in 9 months . (11 months is “a year,” for most intents and purposes) “They don’t want me in their lives, they bashed me pretty badly.” We saw quite a lot of that, with Caitlyn getting called insane by her own family on Keeping Up With The Kardashians over some of the things that were written in her book. “It’s devastating when your kids do that. It really hurt.” Remember, folks — Caitlyn fathered Kendall and Kylie, but she’s been Kim and Kourtney and Khloe and Rob’s dad for decades, too. Caitlyn doesn’t feel that their responses are justified. “I tried to be honest in my book — very fair and very nice. Unfortunately, they didn’t take it that way.” Honesty is not always the best policy — particularly when writing a memoir about your very famous, still-living family members. But Caitlyn emphasizes that the Kardashians were not the focus. “In the book I express some opinions and got shut down. It was not about the Kardashians.” Sure, but obviously people are going to latch onto Kardashian news. “They were only mentioned on 20 pages.” Do you know how much any one of us could upset people in our lives by telling 100% truthful stories about them in just 20 pages? You could lose every friend and family member that you have with too much honesty. You gotta have a filter, folks. Yes, even when writing a memoir. You don’t need to lie; you just need to edit. But Caitlyn thinks that the Kardashians doing what they do — turning every circumstance into entertainment for their own professional and financial benefit — is to blame for the perception that Caitlyn’s book was negative towards them. “They made it more about them on television. The book was about my life. That caused a lot of the separation between us.” Like we said, they sure did talk about it on their show. But when you speak negatively of your celebrity family members outside of, like, a therapist’s office, don’t expect for them to be super chill about it. Caitlyn seems to be regarding her book, because it is a memoir, as some sort of sacrosanct confessional whose contents should be untouchable. But … it’s a book, and the Kardashians are (mostly) real people with (arguably) real feelings. It’s important for us to note that Caitlyn still gets along with some members of what’s considered the Kardashian clan. Caitlyn is still close with Kylie. Cait appeared on Life of Kylie . and the two regularly hang out on Father’s Day. Also, Caitlyn took her gal pal Sophia Hutchins to Kendall Jenner’s 22nd birthday party. That was potentially a little awkward, since Cait’s “friend” is still only 21 and therefore younger than Kendall, but it shows that Caitlyn and Kendall are still getting along. Still, it’s sad to see a family torn apart. We wonder if they’ll mend fences or just resign themselves to this estrangement. As you may have heard by now, Jenelle Evans has published a memoir, and in keeping with her image as the most reckless and rebellious member of the Teen Mom cast, Evans has loaded the book with revelations that seem intended to shock. The problem with the book is that it mostly consists of entries culled from a diary Jenelle kept as a teenager. Now, teenage diaries aren’t typically known as repositories for level-headed contemplation of life’s great mysteries, and Jenelle being Jenelle, her journal is far more dramatic than most. As a result, the 25-year-old is already back-tracking on some of the wilder claims made in her memoir. In the book, Jenelle opened up about suicidal thoughts she suffered as a teen. This week, she revealed that she never actually contemplated taking her own life. Also in the book, Jenelle wrote about her pill popping habit . It turns out she was referring to one occasion in which she swallowed several decongestants in hopes of achieveing a hallucinatory state. A very dangerous thing to do, and certainly something that could’ve had serious repercussions, but not the sort of thing that comes to mind when one hears the phrase “pill-popping habit.” “From ages 14-17 I was addicted to sex,” reads a journal entry from the memoir Read Between The Lines: Diary of a Teenage Mom . “I didn’t care who it was with or if it was unprotected until I got pregnant at 17.” It seems Jenelle briefly believed she was experiencing some sort of extreme evolutionary imperative, and the universe was simply insisting that she pass on her crazy-ass genes. In the book, she writes that the constant need for sex subsided after she gave birth to her first son. Now, she doubts that she was ever addicted to sex at all, and believes she was probably just starved for affection. “I don’t think I was really addicted to sex,” she said this week. “I think I was addicted to love. I would do anything to keep a guy with me, so I used sex as a manipulative tool. I gave them what they wanted to get them to stay with me. I wasn’t a sex addict so much as a love junkie.” Yet again, it seems like she could have left out some of the hyperbole, but in all likelihood, her hand was forced by a publisher looking for melodrama. Jenelle has endured numerous hardships in her young life, and we in no way intend to dismiss her addictions and possible mental illnesses. But perhaps publishing unedited excerpts from the teenage diary of a woman who’s prone to slanderous comments, exaggeration, and flat-out lying wasn’t the smartest move. Newark Woman Arrested For Trying To Eat Her Friend’s Face And Biting A Cop Normally when we hear about women trying to eat their friends , there’s more pleasure than pain. Not in this case… Via DailyMail A woman has been arrested after allegedly trying to eat her friend’s face before biting her boyfriend and a police officer during a drug-fueled rampage. Mother Lindie Stewart, 37, was arrested in Newark, New York, on Sunday after police found her being held down in a driveway by her friend, Michael Maricle. When cops arrived, Maricle’s face was bleeding and he told them he was trying to stop her from attacking him again. Haven’t heard many of these stories since people stopped doing bath salts… ‘Michael was holding Lindie down on the driveway and was bleeding from his face. I went to grab Lindie to restrain her,’ Rouse told police. ‘I asked Michael what was happening and he said Lindie began biting his neck and was trying to eat his face and chin. ‘I then watched the policeman place Michael in handcuffs and then he quickly came over to help me. ‘While I was holding Lindie, she began biting me in the center of my chest and my armpit which caused me to experience pain and discomfort.’ Oh yeah, she also said: ‘She also said she is taking Alice to the Moon and that she would kill. Angie Martinez Reveals She Had A Fight With Wendy Williams Angie Martinez just released her personal memoir, “My Voice: A Memoir” where she drops all sorts of tidbits about her life and career, including her days at HOT 97 in New York. But one particularly juicy tidbit she shares in the memoir is the time she beat the brakes off of Wendy Williams for putting out gay rumors about her man. Apparently Angie was already agitated at Wendy’s schtick of constantly calling out every man in the industry as an “undercover brother: “Everybody was gay to Wendy. Every rapper you could think of in that era, I had heard Wendy Williams call them gay. Not one or two. Like every one of them.” But isht REALLY hit the fan when Wendy threw shade at Angie and her then-boyfriend Q-Tip on her website, allegedly writing “One of my co-workers is dating Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest. Oh well. I guess some women like men who like men.” Naturally, Angie had enough and decided to square up with Wendy one-on-one — at work, no less. “I lost my f–king mind. Before I knew it I was swinging at her. It was a quick scuffle. It took only a few seconds for me to realize that she wasn’t really hitting me back — she was just trying to get me off of her.” A coworker stepped in and broke up the mini-melee…but Wendy took it upon herself to defend herself. Apparently she grabbed a mop and, according to Angie: “[She] just stood there with it like she wanted to have some sort of sword fight or something. It was actually kind of funny, even in the moment.” Angie says Wendy had it coming one way or another…and it was bound to happen with her mouth. But nowadays, she doesn’t feel any sort of way about the talk show host… “The truth is that if it wasn’t me it was gonna be somebody else,” Angie wrote. “She was disrespectful to so many people all the time. I watch her TV talk show sometimes and she has really mastered her lane. I find myself watching and laughing out loud. I don’t have any ill feelings toward her.” Damn!
