The Walking Dead Recap: What Happened to Daryl?

Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead continued to fill in the blanks about what happened during the time jump.  We started things off with Carol and Henry finding Daryl in the woods living rough.  Not one to show up without an ulterior motive, Carol said that she needed Daryl to coach Henry into becoming a solid fighter and a stand up young man.  Daryl was against this because he was happy staying alone with his trusty four-legged companion. Oh yes, Daryl got himself a dog, and it’s smarter than you would think.  In any case, Carol put her manipulation head on, and got the dog trapped, fully knowing that Henry would help free the companion.  It went to plan and allowed Daryl to see that there was a lot to like about Henry.  Daryl subsequently opened up about why he was out there in the open without any human interaction. He was skeptical that Rick was actually dead because there was no body.  He made a great point, and it proved that even though he and Rick had their differences before the big event, Daryl was still going to be there for his friend.  Elsewhere, Jesus and Aaron were on what appeared to be a date when they noticed a flare lighting up the sky in the distance.  It was Rosita, and she claimed that Eugene was locked up in a barn after they heard walkers whispering. Rosita was adamant that they needed to get their ally back.  However, Jesus and Aaron were all about getting Rosita to safety because their friend was safe in a barn and she was a bit worse for wear.  Back at the Hilltop, we learned that Maggie took off with Georgie with the aim of building a new community, and Jesus was left in charge.  Jesus was struggling to get acclimated with leading the people, and it was starting to rub Tara the wrong way. Without guidance, the place would fall apart.  Jesus resolved that he needed to switch things up if he wanted to prove that he was the right candidate for the job.  Meanwhile, Michonne, Siddiq, and D.J. traveled with Magna, Yumiko, Kelly, Connie, and Luke towards the Hilltop.  Despite the newbies claiming that they were thankful, Michonne took a chance on them, she stopped them in their tracks.  She only went along with them to see if their story checked out, presumably so she could get some revenge if they were liars.  The biggest surprise was that Michonne had no idea Maggie left the Hilltop behind. It confirmed that the relationship between the communities was hanging by a thread.  Siddiq had to tell his boss about it, and she was not impressed because she thought they were closer.  In the end, Daryl, Carol, and Henry arrived alongside the new group at the Hilltop, and everyone got ready to go on the mission to save Eugene’s life.  What are your thoughts on the episode? The Walking Dead continues Sundays on AMC. View Slideshow: The Walking Dead Season 9: What’s About to Go Down?

The Walking Dead Recap: Who Died?

The Walking Dead returned to AMC with a lot of surprises for longtime fans of the series.  There was a time jump, two deaths, a proposal, blindsides and a whole lot of zombie action.  The episode kicked off with a cute scene between Judith, Rick, and Michonne, showing that Alexandria really did manage to weather the storm.  It was rising up thanks to the leadership in Rick, but there was a new mission for him and his allies to work on: They embarked on a trip to Washington D.C. to garner supplies, but these weren’t the usual supplies these zombie slayers usually pick up.  These ones would allow them to create transport that would not really on gas. Instead, they would rely on horses and a whole lot of manpower.  That’s why the gang made their way to the Museum of Natural History because that was the best place to get some equipment to make carriages for the horses.  What followed was a tense scene as the group worked in tandem to get a carriage down a set of stairs and across a large room without making a noise.  There were walkers right below them, and what made it even scarier was that it was a glass floor separating them.  In a somewhat predictable chain of events, the ceiling gave way, and Ezekiel fell down. Thankfully there was a bit of rope that kept him dangling just long enough for his pals to save him.  The first death of the hour came when the group was on the way back with the supplies. Walkers appeared from every direction.  Ken did not want to see the horse die, so he quickly tried to slice the shackles to save it, but he gave up his own life in the process.  One of the walkers feasted on his arm, and that was the end of him. His mother and father blamed Maggie for taking their son out to find supplies.  Gregory was on hand to turn them against Maggie because that’s what the loser does. He always pops up to cause some drama.  He successfully managed to get the boy’s father to try and murder Maggie as she was doing a midnight patrol around the Hilltop.  Maggie was saved in the nick of time and went straight for Gregory’s place. The villain laughed at the very notion of trying to kill here before attempting to stab her on the spot.  Maggie overpowered him and decided to call a town meeting. That involved bringing Rick over from Alexandria.  Rick pleaded with Maggie to offer some assistance to the Saviors, but she was against it. If you watch The Walking Dead online , you will recall that she wanted Negan dead, but Rick saved him.  Maggie offered a deal to Rick: She will offer food and resources to the Saviors, but they will be the ones to build the bridge and provide most of the labor.  Maggie then said that she was supposed to be in control of everything and that Rick was still grating on her nerves.  She had a point, and Rick was genuinely blindsided by it.  Maggie then executed Gregory, saying that everyone knows there are rules and she will inflict them on people if she so desires.  Elsewhere, Daryl was freaking out when someone started writing “We are still Negan” on the walls of the Sanctuary.  He confronted Rick about not wanting to work there anymore, but Rick said that someone else would have to take his place.  Carol overheard the conversation and agreed to take over from her friend, so he had a break to get it together.  We also learned that Carol and Ezekiel’s relationship was going from strength to strength. Ezekial even tried to propose marriage to Carol.  She declined, and we’re left to wonder why.  What did you think of the premiere?  Are you on board?  Hit the comments below.  View Slideshow: The Walking Dead Season 9: What’s About to Go Down?

Oh?: Andrew Lincoln Leaving ‘The Walking Dead’ After Season 9, Reportedly

Continue reading here:

Source: AMC / AMC Last season we unexpectedly lost Carl Grimes (Chanler Riggs), and now if reports are true, his dad Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) will follow him after next season as the next fan favorite to exit The Walking Dead . Didn’t see this one coming at all. No one is truly untouchable on The Walking Dead , we learned that last season when we watched Carl succumb to a walker bite despite living well into the zombie apocalypse in the comics. According to a Deadline report , Rick Grimes time is almost up as well on the AMC blockbuster show. For 8 seasons fans have followed and watched Rick lose nearly his entire family and friends but never imagined his run was anywhere near. via GIPHY The show is still currently filming its ninth season and contracts are still being worked out, but no details have been revealed exactly how Rick exit will happen. According to the report, he will only appear in six episodes in the now Angela Kang ran show. When we last left Rick, he has overcome his greatest foe Nega n (Jeffrey Dean Morgan)  but might have gained two new ones in former friends Maggie (Lauren Cohan)  and Daryl (Norman Reedus). Ironically Cohan was engaged in a contract dispute which has been resolved and her participation next season will be reportedly reduced to six-episodes as she focuses more on her role in the new ABC show  Whiskey Cavalier.  So with Rick leaving who is poised to take over? Fan favorite Daryl will lead the group according to the report. Reedus is reportedly going to receive a $20 million contract that is definitely enough incentive to stay on the TWD for the foreseeable future. There is no word if Danai Gurira will stop swinging her sword past season 9 and AMC declined to comment about the recent revelations. All of this news comes after TWD suffered a significant drop in ratings according to the shows viewership standards. So maybe a fresh new start for the show might help get those viewers back who were turned off by season 8. — Photo: AMC

Fans React To The Season 8 Mid-Season Finale of The Walking Dead

Read the rest here:

T hey promised us a shocking death was coming for The Walking Dead Season 8, mid-season finale and they delivered. Episode 8 titled “How It’s Gotta Be” was definitely an hour plus nerve-wracking experience and it didn’t help we knew someone was going to die. There was plenty of action, suspense with a heavy amount of foreshadowing as we waited to find out which beloved character was going to bite the dust. All of the turmoil in the form of Negan and his Saviors that was unleashed upon the Alexandrians and Hilltoppers is a direct result of Daryl not being patient and following Rick’s plan. The Saviors were absolutely pissed that they were trapped in The Sanctuary. But who knew the sacrifice would be so great and the one who would suffer again the most is Rick. While Negan is burning down Alexandria, Rick is racing back to warn them but it’s already too late. His son, Carl is in charge and is trying to get the Alexandrians to safety.  Once they leave Carl mans up faces Negan and offers his own life as a sacrifice to give his people time to escape. At first, it just seemed like a ploy but as it played out Carl was really trying to end his life, no seriously he really was. WTF Carl! Carl hops down and is on his own against an army of Saviors led by Negan who are destroying everything on site looking for him. Carl manages to dodge all of the explosions and Negan but his well being remains a mystery. Rick finally arrives back in town frantically searching for his family and finds Negan waiting in his house. They immediately engage in a serious brawl and if we are sure folks thought this might be it for Rick. The fight ends when Negan pushes Rick through a window. So we don’t lose either Rick or Negan at this point. Also, Michonne decided to stick around as well so that also gave fans the impression that damn we might lose our favorite katana wielding bad ass. We just didn’t know who was going to go, but boy did we quickly learn. Michonne and Rick are finally reunited when he finds her chopping up a Savior who made the mistake of trying to kill her. They head back to the sewer and we see a good portion of the Alexandrians have made out alive. Rick is searching for his family and he sees Judith but no Carl. Time to start panicking, he makes it to the end and he sees the lone survivor he scared off in the sewer. Then Carl speaks out and says he brought him to Alexandria. Whew, Carl is alive well sort of, as we get a closer look at Carl he is very pale and we all know what the look means. Carl has a bite, but did it happen while he was trying to escape The Saviors or did he suffer the bit when he was “releasing walkers”? It was a sad moment and the internet quickly reacted to sad moment. I cannot believe they just killed carl off like that.. bye folks #TheWalkingDead pic.twitter.com/XvL7UJwCaq — idk (@WolfNialler) December 11, 2017 The show has totally taken different route extreme route with Carl’s impending death.  Season 8 had it’s ups and downs but the season finale definitely delivered, to see more of the fallout from Carl’s “death” hit the gallery below.
