Lady Gaga: Banned in Indonesia!

Indonesia’s Little Monsters, revolt! Lady Gaga, who is scheduled to perform in Jakarta next month, has just been banned by the nation following protests from hardline Islamic critics. The concert drew vehement opposition from many in the world’s most populous Muslim nation, due to her controversial persona and racy getups. A spokesman for the Indonesian national police has confirmed that the singer has been denied a permit for her June 3 show, thus negging the show. It would have been the biggest stop on her Asian tour, having been set to take place at the 52,000-seat Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Jakarta. The Islamic Defenders Front trashed the global pop superstar for her “Satanic lyrics” that threaten to “destroy the children’s sense of morality.” Other protesters, equally enraged, even vowed to physically block the singer from setting foot on Indonesian soil if the show wasn’t cancelled. Local law enforcement reportedly requested that the permit be denied after fearing that officers wouldn’t able to contain a massive on-site protest. Earlier this spring, Gaga’s tour drew protests from South Korean Christian groups decrying that her “pornographic” performances promoted homosexuality. No word if the Lady Gaga hermaphrodite rumors also make the protesters uneasy, or if they’re even allowed to read such things on the Internet. [Photo: WENN.com]

Jennifer Lopez Defends Casper Smart as a "Good Egg"

They’ve been spotted out in public, and they’ve exchanged loving Tweets , but Jennifer Lopez hasn’t said much about her much younger boyfriend, Casper Smart. Until now. In the April issue of Vogue, the American Idol judge glows over her back-up dancer of a man, telling the magazine: “He’s adorable. But you already see that. He really is [sweet]. He’s a good egg. I don’t want to talk about it too much. It’s my private thing.” But what about that age difference of 18 years? “I don’t feel older, and I don’t feel like I look it, either, so I am just acting the same way I have always acted,” she says. As for that public split from Marc Anthony ? J. Lo adds that she’s “proud” of how both sides have handled it and points to their children as the basis for their continued respect and friendship. “We’re still friends – and we’re parents. But it’s going to take time.. It’s tough. But for the most part, I feel very proud of the way we’re handling it. I really do. We are doing the best we can for the kids.”

Lady Gaga: Ready to Settle Down, Have Kids?

Lady Gaga may be cutting herself off from interviews , but in her last sit-down before that self-imposed time out, the star’s giving us plenty to talk about. Showing her maternal side in a recent chat with Oprah Winfrey (airing tomorrow night on OWN), Gaga says she not only wants kids, but a lot of them. A “soccer team” full of them, to quote the Mother Monster. “Yeah, yeah, I do,” a (relatively) conservatively dressed Gaga, 25, told the talk show host, 58, when asked if she was serious about wanting a large family. “I mean maybe I’m being a bit superfluous [about the soccer team], but I don’t want to have one [child], I want a few,” the Grammy nominee said. Lady Gaga adds that she also wants a husband. Making a gesture to indicate a baby bump, the singer tells Winfrey, “I want to experience that.” But Taylor Kinney is off the hook for now. Don’t expect her to settle down anytime soon. Gaga wants a family – just “not yet,” she says with a smile. For now, she’ll have to settle for 20 million Little Monsters on Twitter.

Sacha Baron Cohen Addresses Oscar Ban In ‘Dictator’ Character

Admiral General Shabazz Aladeen issues ultimatum, promises ‘unimaginable consequences’ if Academy refuses to lift ban. By John Mitchell Sacha Baron Cohen in “The Dictator” Photo: Paramount Sacha Baron Cohen finally addressed the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ decision to ban him from attending Sunday’s Oscars , releasing a video and calling in to “Today” as Admiral General Shabazz Aladeen, his character in the upcoming film “The Dictator,” to promise “unimaginable consequences” if he is not permitted to attend. Baron Cohen was initially invited to the Oscars because he appears in one of this year’s Best Picture nominees, Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo.” The actor’s in-character appearance was intended to generate publicity for the film, a tactic with which the Academy apparently took issue. Purists believe such promotion is inappropriate, as the Academy hasn’t even allowed advertisements for films to run during the Oscar telecast until this year. “Good morning, great Satan of America. How are you? I am fine, thank you. On behalf of the nation of Wadiya, I am outraged at being banned from the Oscars by the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Zionists,” Gen. Aladeen said in a video address posted to the Republic of Wadiya website . “While I applaud the Academy for taking away my right to free speech, I warn you that if you do not lift your sanctions and give me my tickets back by 12 p.m. on Sunday, you will face unimaginable consequences. … On top of all of this, I paid Hilary Swank $2 million to be my date and she will not refund a penny. My Sunday calendar is now as empty as a North Korean grocery store. “But whatever happens, I still plan to attend director Brett Ratner’s afterparty, since it is impossible to catch herpes twice,” he continued. “Death to the West. And good luck, Billy Crystal. You’re fantastic.” At the video’s conclusion, in a likely statement on what Baron Cohen believes inspired the Academy to ban him from attending in character, he concludes the video by saying, “How was that? Did I sound crazy enough?” This morning, during a call-in interview on “Today,” Cohen-as-Aladeen declared, “Normally I would be impressed by an act of cowardice by a faceless regime. But this is personal.” This isn’t the first time Baron Cohen has been shunned by the Academy after declaring his intention to show up in character. In 2007, Baron Cohen was asked to be a presenter but said he would do it only if he could be in character as Borat, the fictitious Kazakh journalist he played in the blockbuster film of the same name. Oscar execs said no, and Baron Cohen did not attend the awards — though he was not officially banned from attending the ceremony. The actor also appeared in character as Br

Lady Gaga Responds To Born This Way Topping ‘Pretentious Albums’ List

‘Eye roll,’ Gaga tweets after music mag NME blasts her latest LP. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Michael Buckner/ Getty Images Earlier this week, British music mag NME set out to determine the “10 Most Pretentious Albums Ever.” The list includes (genuinely pretty terrible) conceptual fare like Kiss’ Music From “The Elder,” Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music and, uh, Lady Gaga ‘s Born This Way, which somehow bested all competitors to nab the #1 spot. How? Well, as NME writer Priya Elan wrote, “On Born This Way, [Gaga] seemed to believe in her own hype, convinced she had a message to share. Cue an album of unwieldy ‘anthems’ that couldn’t mask the fact that the fun had left the building.” Elan singled out the thumping “Schei

Lady Gaga Drops Tour Poster, Fashion Film

Image for Born This Way Ball revealed as Mother Monster releases Jo Calderone-featuring ‘You and I’ clip. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga in her “Born This Way” tour poster Photo: Interscope Lady Gaga is amping up her fans for the Born This Way Ball , set to kick off later this year. On Tuesday, she dropped a sketch of her gothic castle-themed stage design , and in the very early hours of Wednesday morning (February 8), she teased fans with a poster for the trek. The black-and-white poster, which includes touches of neon purple and turquoise, features an omniscient image of Gaga, decked out in her full “BTW” horned look, looking down from the sky. Underneath, in a castle that looks an awful lot like the one from the tour sketch, Gaga, wearing a piano dress, hangs with a group of suit-wearing dudes. And, for those paying close enough attention, Zombie Boy even makes an appearance, peeking out from one of the castle windows. In her long-simmering latest “Yo

Mother Monster herself played Santa to all her fans when she presented them with an unreleased song at midnight on Christmas Day. “Been racking my brain on what to get Little Monsters for Christmas!! I finally figured it out!!” Gaga tweeted on December 22. “On Christmas Day I will leak to you an unreleased Song off Born This Way! It was recorded live, in one take, on the tour bus. Uncensored.” “Stuck on F***in You,” which was recorded on the road in Minnesota during her Monster Ball tour, captures the feeling of a late-night jam session, where Gaga’s voice soars over just a guitar and drum machine. It’s a stripped down, bluesy joint that showcases her humor and flair for improvisation. “We were all wasted on the bus making records,” Gaga tweeted Saturday (December 24) night, “It’s such a timecapsule of the spirit of our creativity. I wrote, sang and freestyled the last minute + half of the song.” Gaga is spending at least part of her holidays abroad. “Well, I’ll be in Japan right up until Christmas Day,” Gaga told MTV News earlier this month. “So I’ll be eating with all my Japanese Little Monsters. I like shabu shabu [a form of Japanese hot pot].” Lady Gaga, who was MTV News’ Top Newsmaker of 2011 , will be ringing in the new year in her hometown of New York. The “Marry the Night” singer , along with Justin Bieber , Nicki Minaj , LMFAO and Florence and the Machine, will watch the ball drop at the 40th annual “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.” The event will be hosted by Ryan Seacrest, with appearances by Fergie and Jenny McCarthy. Lady Gaga Gets Crafty In Thanksgiving Special Preview

‘A Very Gaga Thanksgiving,’ airing Thursday on ABC, will feature a performance of ‘Marry the Night.’ By James Dinh Lady Gaga in ABC’s “A Very Gaga Thanksgiving” Photo: ABC Gather ’round, Little Monsters! Lady Gaga is serving up something special during a preview for her very-first 90-minute holiday TV special, “A Very Gaga Thanksgiving,” which will air at 9:30 p.m. ET Thursday on ABC. “So excited for everyone to see the Thanksgiving Special I directed!” the pop star wrote on Twitter alongside a link to a preview. “Getting into the holiday spirit!” In a three-minute teaser, Mother Monster gathers with a crowd of third-grade children from her former elementary school to make some festive crafts and share personal holiday-food traditions. “I want everyone to go around the room and say one thing that their family makes for Thanksgiving,” she tells the swarm of girls. Gaga is met with a number of answers, including turkey, ham and pumpkin pie, and one girl’s choice leads Gaga to reveal one of her favorite Thanksgiving foods: “I love cranberry sauce. My mom makes the best cranberry sauce ever!” she tells the student. It’s just some simple chit-chat as they create Thanksgiving crafts and later help the pop superstar tie her apron. In addition to the festive footage, Gaga also takes to an intimate stage to perform “Bad Romance” and, later on, to an outside balcony for her latest single, “Marry the Night.” Dressed in a shoulder-less black dress with matching hand gloves, the songstress channels her inner Audrey Hepburn as she offers fans some dramatic poses during the number. Can’t get enough of Gaga’s holiday tunes? The singer just released a four-track digital EP called A Very Gaga Holiday on iTunes, which includes “White Christmas,” “Orange Colored Sky,” “Yo
