Exclusive: Auntie Iyanla Speaks On Her Viral Video Memes—But Was She REALLY Drunk During That #ESSENCE Pole Swingin’ Stunt?

Source: ione / iOne Digital “Not on her watch!” Iyanla Vanzant Speaks On Her Viral Memes During OWN TV’s exclusive ESSENCE Fest press conference Iyanla Vanzant spoke with BOSSIP about the sixth season of her hit show “Iyanla Fix My Life.” In between speaking to the press about advice for millennials (“Who are off the chizzain” ) and the “Fix My Life” casting process, Iyanla spoke with BOSSIP about social media. If you’ve been living under a rock, you might not have noticed that Iyanla’s an absolute social media sensation. Her memes and GIFs dominate Twitter and Instagram and provide the perfect reactions to everyday situations. Some clear frontrunners of the Iyanla Vanzant social repertoire are that infamous “Not On My Watch” moment where she laid down the law to the ladies of “Six Brown Chicks” (5:20)   and that moment where she made Hazel E read her raunchy lyrics to prominent black female figures spawning social media hysteria. Iyanla has Hazel-E read her lyrics to photos of trailblazing black women. Tune into #FixMyLife tonight at 9/8c on @OWNTV pic.twitter.com/8yKMcv3XsW — Iyanla Vanzant (@IyanlaVanzant) April 14, 2018 These moments have spurned infamous tweets and memes that we’ve personally covered over the years.  According to Auntie Iyanla however, she misses a LOT of the memes because she’s barely active on social media. So inactive in fact, that she doesn’t really know the proper terms (she called tweeting “twit”) and was previously befuddled by the concept of DMs. “I don’t do social media, they taught me how to Twit–TWEET, TWEET!” Iyanla told BOSSIP. “So I tweet during the show so I do that. So if something is on my mind I know how to do it. I write my Facebook stuff but someone else posts it for me. I know how to do Instagram, I like Instagram. I like that. I used to do the word of the day and I would find a video—but I can’t find nothing, I can’t look for nothing. People say all the time they DMed me—what does that mean?! There were DMS in there that were three years old.” Iyanla who added that Chance The Rapper told her she has “street cred” also addressed that now viral video of her swinging from a sign at ESSENCE Fest while waiting for her ride. The video that was filmed over the weekend caused speculation that Auntie was having a good IMBIBING time on Bourbon, but that’s apparently not true. Ariana Grande Tears Up On Stage, Fuels Rumors of "Breakdown" Over Mac Miller

It’s been nine months since Mac Miller tragically passed away at the age of 26 following a fatal overdose. Though a highly acclaimed musician in his own right, outside of the hip hop community, Miller was likely best known for his relationship with Ariana Grande. Though they had broken up several months prior to his death, Miller’s passing was, by all accounts, a devastating blow for Grande. She’s publicly paid tribute to the late rapper several times, most famously in the lyrics to her hit single ” Thank U, Next .” On Wednesday night, Ariana sang the song live in Mac’s hometown of Pittsburgh. It was her first time doing so, and the performance clearly took quite an emotional toll: Ariana Grande “Breaks Down” Over Mac Miller As you can see in the clip above, Ari got choked up and was unable to complete the line “wish I could say, ‘Thank you’ to Malcolm” (Miller’s real first name). The crowd quickly realized what was happening and cheered in encouragement. Ari’s backup singers filled in until she was unable to continue the song with her inimitable light soprano voice. Fans in attendance say Grande was also overcome with emotion while performing the night’s opening number “Raindrops (An Angel Cried).” An empty seat was reserved for Mac toward the front of the stage and prior to Ariana’s performance, a medley of his greatest hits was pumped through the speakers of the PPG Paint Arena. It makes sense that Mac’s passing would be such a sensitive subject for Grande — but apparently, members of her inner circle have become concerned by her recent displays of emotion. “Of course her family is worried,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online. “She has so many things on her plate and she has been trying to juggle everything while trying to also have some semblance of a personal life,” the insider adds. “Ariana has been so hot and cold lately and no one knows which version of her they are going to get and right now she is more unpredictable than ever.” Sounds like a difficult time for the beloved pop icon — but given how much she’s been through in the past, we’re sure she’ll make it through. Our thoughts are with Mac’s loved ones as they continue to mourn the passing of a once-in-a-generation talent.

David Letterman Digs Into Kanye’s Trump Love, Sunday Service And Struggles With Mental Health For “My Next Guest”

Source: Janet Mayer/ SplashNews / Splash News David Letterman Gets Kanye To Open Up About Late Mom, Mental Illness And Trump In case you haven’t already heard — we’ll have another chance to get a better understanding of Kanye West and his “interesting” life and philosophies thanks to his appearance in the new season of David Letterman’s Netflix show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.” According to an early preview by the Daily Beast the conversation covers a range of topics including music, fashion and Kanye’s relationships with his father and late mom as Kim Kardashian West sits in the audience watching. Letterman even takes a trip to KimYe’s crib where he tries on pieces from the Yeezy collection, to Kim’s approval. “You look really good,” Kim tells him. View this post on Instagram Just two guys having a laugh. Five new episodes — including Kanye and Dave — are coming next Friday to @Netflix. A post shared by David Letterman (@letterman) on May 25, 2019 at 7:00am PDT We were probably most interested to hear that he brings up other artists he’s been at odds with: During a discussion about his lyrics, Kanye begins to say, “An artist which I will not mention, because I’m not allowed to mention him or any of his family members…” Letterman responds with, “That’s fairly provocative.” “Well, we had a little beef last year,” Kanye says, before revealing that he is referring to Drake. “He has this line that I love that says, ‘I told my story and made history’—like made his story and made history. That’s what we do, we tell our story and then people relate to that story.” But then, he adds, people latch onto that story and get mad when it goes in a direction they don’t expect. “I have a friend who told me that my power is my influence,” Kanye continues. “And I said my power is my ability to not be influenced.” Letterman follows with, “Wow, this is pretty good.” The interview also addresses Kanye’s mental health issues, which he describes thusly: “When you’re bipolar, you have the potential to ramp up and it can take you to a point where you start acting erratic, as TMZ would put it,” the rapper says, referencing his on-air meltdown at that outlet’s offices last year. Ye, who stopped taking his medication a year ago, argues that his disease likely fuels his creativity: “If you guys want these crazy ideas and these crazy stages and this crazy music and this crazy way of thinking,” he says, “there’s a chance if might come from a crazy person.” Of course we saved the best for last… Letterman doesn’t ask Kanye about Trump, Kanye brings up that relationship on his own: In the midst of an argument about his “fear” as a man during the #MeToo movement, Kanye says, “This is like my thing with Trump—we don’t have to feel the same way, but we have the right to feel what we feel.” When he wears his “Make America Great Again” hat, he says it’s “not about politics” but rather an attempt to break the stigma around showing support for Trump. “Did you vote for Trump?” Letterman asks him. “I’ve never voted in my life,” Kanye answers. “Then you don’t have a say in this,” Letterman shoots back to cheers from the audience. Kanye responds, “Well you got me, you got me,” before going on his anti-13th Amendment rant that drew Trump’s praise and may or may not have been inspired by conservative activist Candace Owens. From there, Letterman tries to get Kanye to condemn the Republican-led voter suppression efforts during the most recent midterm elections. “So if I see a person that I admire talking about Donald Trump can think whatever he does,” he says, “I wonder if those thoughts, indirectly, aren’t hurting people who are already being hurt.” Instead of addressing Letterman’s point, Kanye turns around and expresses sympathy for Trump voters who are “treated like enemies of America because that’s what they felt.” After Letterman makes his forceful case against the idea that Trump is some sort of savior to those who voted for him, Kanye takes a long pause. “Have you ever been beat up in your high school for wearing the wrong hat?” he asks eventually. Asked who is doing the bulk of the bullying in America right now, he replies, “Liberals bully people who are Trump supporters!” YIKES… But according to the Daily Beast, Ye kinda manages to redeem himself by revealing some of his James Turrell-inspired Sunday Service project. The episode and four others lands at Netflix this Friday May 31. Will you be watching? Check out the trailer below: Hit the flip to see Kanye talk about his late mom Donda

See You Again: Fans Are Petitioning The UK Government To Lift Their Tyler, The Creator Ban

Source: ANGELA WEISS / Getty Fans Wants The UK To End Their Ban On Tyler, The Creator Fans of Tyler, The Creator are trying to convince the U.K. government to lift their “petty” ban on the rapper. Back in 2015, the Odd Future founder was informed that he was prohibited from entering Britain for the next three to five years. According to legal documents, the decision was due to the rapper’s controversial lyrical content, specifically citing songs from the 2009  Bastard  and 2011  Goblin  projects. He was then issued a letter that referenced the country’s Home Office policy on “behaviours unacceptable in the UK”; this was a set of guidelines created in 2005 to prevent suspected terrorists from entering the country. The UK Home Office addressed the ban in the following statement: “Coming to the UK is a privilege, and we expect those who come here to respect our shared values. The Home Secretary has the power to exclude an individual if she considers that his or her presence in the UK is not conducive to the public good or if their exclusion is justified on public policy grounds.” The decision came about a month after Tyler announced the cancelation of his Australia tour on his Twitter page. He informed fans he was banned from Oz after feminist organization Collective Shout pressured the government to deny his visa. “Now [the UK government] are just followers. Everyone is a follower, just following what other countries are doing,” Tyler told The Guardian , suggesting the UK was taking cues from Australia in their ban. “Now I’m getting treated like a terrorist. I’m bummed out because it’s like, dude, I’m not homophobic. I’ve said this since the beginning. The “hating women” thing – it’s so nuts. It’s based on things I made when I was super-young, when no one was listening [to my music].” Fast forward to today, a fan named Sam Roberts created a petition that asks the UK government to end Tyler’s ban immediately. The petition page states that the lyrics in question were “intended as adult humour” and no longer reflect the person Tyler is today, so many years later. According to the page, this petition needs to receive at least 10,000 signatures to get a reaction from the government, and at least 100,000 signatures to be considered for debate in Parliament.

“Why Did This Happen To Me?” R. Kelly’s Ex-Hair Braider Said Singer Tried To Force Oral Sex & Spat On Her [VIDEO]

Source: Chicago Tribune / Getty Via Madamenoire : R. Kelly’s former hair stylist, Lanita Carter, who was once an anonymous accuser, revealed her identity today on “CBS This Morning.” Text “RICKEY”to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news . ( Terms and conditions ). In her sit down interview, Carter spoke about the sexual assault she experienced at the hands of Kelly in 2003, when she was 24-years-old. Carter said she had been working as Kelly’s braider for a year and even defended him in 2002, when he was arrested on child pornography charges. Carter described Kelly with two words: “Perfect gentleman.” “I would tell people, ‘Pray for him. I do his hair. He is nothing like what they say.’ On, February 18, 2003, Carter alleged that Kelly called her in to braid his hair. Later, he asked her to massage his head. She told him she didn’t do massages, “I laughed it off. I didn’t know he was for real. If I could change that day, I wouldn’t have been there.” Kelly allegedly yanked her head down by her braid and demanded that he perform oral sex on her. Carter said Kelly repeatedly told her, “Suck it for Daddy.” Carter tried to shield herself from his body with her hand, pulling away from him. In response, Kelly started hawking up saliva, spitting on her. Sign Up For Our Newsletter! Close Thank you for subscribing! Please be sure to open and click your first newsletter so we can confirm your subscription. Email Submit Carter said the only thing that made him stop was someone knocking on the door. “He didn’t open the door right away. He says, ‘Fix your face. Fix your muthaf*cking face.’ I knew that’ll be my last day there.” Carter went to the bathroom and started questioning herself. “I get to the bathroom and I grab the wall and it was a rose colored towel. I wipe my face. I’m not dressed no type of way. I look at myself in the mirror, I’m not a beauty queen. I didn’t perceive myself to be more than just his hair braider. And I just kept thinking to myself, why did this happen to me.” Carter called authorities the same day to report the incident. SEE ALSO:  R. Kelly’s Ex-Wife Is Going Back To Reality Television “They asked for my clothing and I gave them my favorite Tommy Hilfiger shirt and that’s where they found DNA evidence. Semen.” For whatever reason, charges were not filed against Kelly in 2003. Carter offered her theory about the reason why this might have been so. “Celebrities are powerful. Celebrities have support systems. I have no support system outside of my immediate family.” Six months later, Carter signed a $650,000 settlement where Kelly denied any wrong doing and Carter agreed to keep quiet. In 2009, R. Kelly released, “Hair Braider” a song about having sex with the woman who braids his hair. Carter said there were references to her in the lyrics and music video. Kelly sings, “Zig zag braids, got em looking like spaghetti.” Carter said, “That was one of the hair styles that I was known for doing. We were on the L shaped couch when the incident happened.” The song led to another confidential settlement, this one for $100,000. In documents, Kelly denies any wrong doing but agreed never to perform it again or include it on any of his future albums. After the documentary, Cook County State Attorney Kimberly Foxx asked that victims of Kelly come forward and share their stories. Carter said, “I would be going on with my day, you turn on the news, here’s another R. Kelly victim. Another R. Kelly victim. Another R. Kelly victim. You just want to be there for them.” Carter said that interestingly enough, Kelly’s interview with Gayle King that inspired her to come forward and tell her story publicly. “I know that I love myself today. I know that I don’t care what anybody say about me. This is a release. I been carrying this since 2003. I don’t want to be in the public but this is my life. If I die tomorrow, I know that I told the truth.” You can watch Carter’s interview in the video below.
