Judge Jed Rakoff said that a “modest” prison sentence would be a fair punishment for the 90s rapper’s “brazen” tax fraud while sending a message to others considering committing the same crimes. “In the the court’s view, Mr. Simmons is a good man,” Judge Jed Rakoff said. (But) in many ways he’s his own worst enemy.” The one year is considerably less than the the five years the prosecution argued for, however it is much more than what the defense wanted, which included rehab and government trusteeship of DMX’s finances. Not even a tearful plea from the Dark Man X himself would sway the judge from prison time. “I have a one-year-old son and it’s difficult for my fiancé to take care of him because he has a medical condition,” DMX told Judge Rakoff. “I was in a cloud. I wasn’t thinking straight. More than that, I wasn’t thinking at all.”
O n Friday, March 9, TSA at Newark Liberty International reportedly found a loaded .38-caliber handgun in Juelz Santana ‘s luggage. Once the weapon was found, the rapper allegedly fled the airport via taxi. In addition, eight oxycodone pills were allegedly found in his travel bag. After being on the run for 48 hours, he turned himself in to police. The rapper has been in jail since March 12 and he won’t be getting out anytime soon, he was denied bail. NorthJersey.com reports, “A judge ruled Monday that a proposed bail package was insufficient to allow his release on weapons and drug charges.” According to TSA regulations, bringing a weapon to an airport security checkpoint is punishable by a fine. In addition, Santana is a convicted felon, so he is possibly facing prison time . The rapper was charged with “one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of carrying a weapon on an aircraft,” according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey. We hope Santana is able to resolve these issues because with the direction our criminal justice system is going now, it’s extremely dangerous for a Black man to be at the mercy of the courts. Based on the indictment paperwork, several social media outlets have been outed as Russian propaganda, and many of the most famous Americans citizens unknowingly helped their reach. Say that you’re a twenty-something D-list (at best) rapper. You’ve been dating a girl for a couple of months. She’s several years younger than you are — just a teenager, in fact, though she’s an adult. You also know that you’re her rebound, after she spent the last two years in an off-and-on relationship with a man even older (and worse at rapping) than you are. Now imagine that she tells you that, surprise , she’s pregnant! Maybe you don’t know how it happened, or maybe you know exactly how it did. Also imagine that your now pregnant girlfriend is one of the most famous teens on the planet. That, despite this, she wants to keep her condition a secret for as long as possible. Now imagine that, not long after your pregnant girlfriend’s 20th birthday, the entire world finds out about her pregnancy … but she still insists on keeping things quiet, refusing to confirm her pregnancy even though it is no longer a secret. And then imagine that she’s started to, well, go nuts. Not only is she resigned to hide until her baby is born , but she’s started to become wildly insecure about her body, believing that pregnancy is making her so ugly . Her hormones are making her emotions erratic and extreme and you don’t know how to deal with it. You can’t talk about it with just anyone or it might leak. The entire world knows that you knocked her up, so even if you wanted to, you can’t leave her. (Besides, you’ve just impregnated a famously wealthy family’s soon-to-be wealthiest member . When you snare the goose that lays golden eggs, you don’t run off because it got a little cranky) What do you do? HollywoodLife reports that Travis Scott is asking Kanye West for advice on how to deal with Kylie’s pregnancy hormones. According to their insider: “Travis has been getting advice from Kanye on the best way to help Kylie get through this, basically how to handle her pregnancy hormones.” We’d love to hear how that conversation went. “Hey, not-quite-brother-in-law … did Kim also go nuts with North and Saint? Any advice?” Or something. Seriously. It’s a sensitive subject. And if less-than-understanding phrasing got back to Kylie, it might set her off. The insider continues: “Kim’s pregnancies were both very tough and Kanye struggled at first to say and do the right things.” Sometimes, you have to walk on eggshells. Pregnant bodies are effectively hijacked by the placenta, and the placenta only cares about producing a healthy human. It doesn’t feel that it owes the mother anything. Not even mercy. We wouldn’t normally think of Kanye as a source of advice … for anything. This is a guy who voluntarily posed side-by-side with Donald Trump, folks. Things don’t go well for Trump’s friends — just ask Michael Flynn. But the insider says that Kanye was able to provide a very solid piece of advice. “Kanye’s big piece of advice for Travis was that no matter where he is in the world Kylie needs his attention, and it has to be reliable.” That’s good for anyone who’s dealing with an excessively needy partner, whether they’re pregnant or donating eggs or dealing with a sudden loss. The singer-songwriter responded to a question by a follower on Twitter today by coming clean about something that has apparently been on his mind for a long time. “Tell us, why do you look different lately?” the commenter wrote, to which Geiger responded very simply and straightforwardly: “ Okay… because u asked nicely… I am transitioning. Oh. Wow. The artist didn’t delve into too much detail, or explain precisely what he means by “transitioning,” but the safe assumption is that he plans to live life as a woman in the near future. Will this mean plastic surgery? Gender reassignment surgery? We’d just be speculating right now if we were to say. Added Geiger, who appeared on the VH1 reality competition In Search of the Partridge Family in2004 and went on to release the 2006 album Underage Thinking: I started talking about it with a couple of my close friends and family about a month ago and it’s given me the courage to start the process. I feel like the next step is to tell all y’all. So here goes. Love it or hate this is who i have been for a looooong time. I love u guys. Talk sooooon byeeee. The singer has a Top 40 single on his resume with 2006’s “For You I Will (Confidence).” Geiger has also performed on Hilary Duff’s 2005 tour Still Most Wanted and appeared in the 2008 film The Rocker. In recent years, his own singing career has taken a backseat to his songwriting career. Geiger has penned a slew of major tracks for A-list acts, including the following singers/band and singles: One Direction (“Where Do Broken Hearts Go”) Shawn Mendes (“Stitches,” “Treat You Better,” “Mercy,” “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back”) Maroon 5 (“Who I Am,” off the group’s upcoming album.) We salute Geiger for taking this brave step. We hope he finds happiness in living life as the person he truly believes himself to me. Awhile back, of course, Caitlyn Jenner made major headlines when she made a similar transition. Super producer Ryan Murphy, meanwhile, has announced that his next FX series (“Pose) will feature five transgender actors in series regular roles, the largest number to ever grace the screen in a scripted TV program. It’s becoming far more socially acceptable for individuals in these situations to embrace their true selves and to talk about it openly in public. Which is pretty refreshing, isn’t it?
