Exclusive: Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul Talks New Album & New Latin Restaurant

NEW YORK, NY – SEPTEMBER 14: DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia visits SiriusXM Studios on September 14, 2017 in New York City. (Photo by Michael Loccisano/Getty Images) Crunk Artist Dropped “Underground Vol. 17,” Opening “Fernando’s Hideout” In 2018 Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul made his name in crunk music that chronicled he and his bandmates’ love of lean and questionable young ladies. But the Academy Award -winning artist has decided to indulge his other passion – cooking – with a foray into the restaurant biz. Paul said he has partnered with other celebs to open “Fernando’s Hideout” in Beverly Hills early next year. And the avid cook said don’t be surprised if you see him in the place manning the grills himself. “I gotta put some South in yo’ mouth,” Paul joked. But not before he releases his latest body of work, “Underground Vol. 17,” an album he said is a throwback to the crunk sound he and his bandmates in Three 6 Mafia made in the early 2000s. “I went back to the old school,” DJ Paul told BOSSIP. “I brought out my SB 1200 (drum machine) from the early 90s. It’s the old school sound. I brought out my floppy disk! I brought out the old school and brought it back to life.” HOLLYWOOD, CA – FEBRUARY 05: DJ Paul attends the OK! 2015 Pre GRAMMY Party at Lure on February 5, 2015 in Hollywood, California. (Photo by Justin Baker/Getty Images) The album features artists like Yelawolf, Dave East , Krazie Bone and Lil Jon, but Paul said he was very selective in who he decided to feature on the project. “I don’t go for who’s hot,” Paul explained. “I have to get in a room with a person. I have to feel them out and I have to feel like I want that person to represent me…It has to be someone I’m really feeling.” In the meantime, Paul – who helped found the crunk sound nearly 30 years ago that is considered the precursor to trap music – said he’s chilling out and watching the royalties roll in as a new generation of artists sample the group’s work, like A$AP Ferg , who used a riff from “Slob On My Knob” for his new song “Plain Jane.” “Back in the day when I was doing crunk music and we were talking about crazy s**t like snorting cocaine and drinking syrup – that’s what I knew what to talk about,” he said. “No wonder people got love for Three 6 Mafia, because we were talking about what we were doing.”

Scout Schultz: GA Tech Police Fatally Shoot LGBT Activist

Vigil for Scout Schultz, president of GA Tech's Pride Alliance, killed by @GaTechPD last night #RestInPower pic.twitter.com/fyyZSHxiuz — Metro Atlanta DSA (@MetroATLDSA) September 17, 2017 Scout Schultz Killed By GA Tech Police The death of an LGBT activist on the campus of Georgia Tech is causing an uproar. Scout Schultz, an intersex person and the President of the Pride Alliance student group, was shot in the heart Saturday night in full view of students in their dorms. Video has surfaced of the incident and it shows Schultz, 21, in a parking lot telling the police to “shoot them.” Investigators report that they were called after a “person with a knife and a gun” was reportedly spotted on campus. In the video, Schultz is not seen holding a gun but there are reports that they had a pocket knife with the blade tucked in. There were reportedly four officers surrounding Schultz during the incident and they insisted that they dropped the knife. “Come on man, let’s drop the knife,” an officer is heard saying. “Nobody wants to hurt you, man.” Schultz was shot after they started advancing towards police. Schultz’ mother Lynne Schultz recently spoke with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and asked why officers didn’t use non-lethal force. “Why didn’t they use some nonlethal force, like pepper spray or Tasers?” said Lynne. GA Tech officials have since confirmed that their officers don’t carry stun guns. Lynne Schultz also told the AJC that Scout suffered from depression and had attempted suicide two years ago. She and several of Scout’s classmates are now looking for answers. This case is so crazy and we’re sure there are SEVERAL more developments to come. We’ll keep you posted as they become available.

Georgia House Passes Controversial Abortion Bill

Originally posted here:

After contentious debate, the Georgia House of Representatives has passed House Bill 954, which would require that abortions done after 20 weeks gestation be performed in a way that the fetus could potentially be removed alive, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Quoting statistics from the Department of Community Health, the bill’s primary sponsor, Rep. Doug McKillip , R-Athens contends that “in the past five reporting periods, between 568 and 1,541″ abortions were performed after 20 weeks gestation. “We are going to save 1,000 to 1,500 lives,” he said. Many people are not so enthusiastic, pointing to potentially dangerous problems for doctor, mother and child if this bill were to take effect: “The language of the bill has clauses of limited exceptions, but this interpretation can require days, months or years of legal review,” said Dr. Ruth Cline of Athens, an obstetrician. “This is not a realistic option when caring for a patient when every minute is critical for optimal care. No physician could afford to risk that his or her care would be examined after the fact to confirm that the law had been followed if criminal penalties were a probability,” she said. “It is time for the government to get out of my examination room in my office,” she said. “If you legislators want to practice medicine, go to medical school!” The bill still has to pass through the senate. Here is the original post:

Metro Atlanta went to the polls last night and voted overwhelmingly to end the state’s age-old ban on Sunday alcohol sales. Early poll results showed voters in most of the 51 metro Atlanta jurisdictions gave a resounding yes to seven days of package sales in referendums. Only two other states have outright bans on Sunday alcohol sales — Indiana and Connecticut. Only two cities voted no — Palmetto in south Fulton and Forest Park in Clayton County. Dates vary as to when the new law will take effect, ranging from the second Sunday after election results get certified to maybe as late as February. How do you feel about the Sunday alcohol sales ban being lifted? Let us know in the comments! Read more at the AJC.
