Canada Day: 11 Celebrities Who Bring Home The Wrong Kind of Bacon!

When we think of our neighbors to the North, we mostly think of beer, maple syrup, hockey, and more beer. But Canada’s contributions to the world of entertainment can’t be ignored. 11 Canadian Celebrities: We Love Maple Syrup! 1. Justin Bieber Bieber was born in London, Ontario. Many Americans wish he’d stayed there. From truly talented comics like Seth Rogen and Jim Carrey to barely-tolerated hosers like Justin Bieber and…well, that’s about it, Canada may not have any stars on its flag, but its got plenty among its people. Some entries on this list may shock you (Quintessential California beach babe Pamela Anderson is a Canuck?!), while others make perfect sense. (Anyone as polite as Michael Cera must be Canadian!) So while it may be cold, Canada has produced some stars that are truly hot – former couple Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are both from London Ontario – so check out the gallery above to see what stars pay for their Tim Horton’s with toonies, eh? As much as we’re grateful for all that the above Canadians have brought to the worlds of music, television and movies, we’d like to say on behalf of all Americans: one more Justin Bieber arrest and we’re shipping him back north! Maybe some time on his native turf will be good for the boy. Just keep Bieber away from Rob Ford this time. No good can come of putting those two together. Happy Canada Day!

Making It Rain On Them Hoes: UK Rapper Tinie Tempah Drops $37K On First Pair Of “Marty McFly” Nikes

Which just goes to show you: financial irresponsibility isn’t just for American rappers. TMZ reports Tinie Tempah became the first person to buy a pair of Nike’s “Back To The Future II”-inspired sneakers . The very first pair of the Nike Air Mag — the Marty McFly shoe from “Back to the Future II” was auctioned off in L.A. last night … and the winning bidder dropped $37,500!!!!!!!!!!!!! The auction — co-hosted by Joel McHale — went down at the Montalban Theater … and after an INTENSE stand-off between two shoe-a-holics … the winner was eventually crowned. Along with the shoes, the winner also received a “plutonium case” where he can store his “McFly’s” So … what kind of a person drops $37,500 on a pair of crazy “Back to the Future” shoes??? A 22-year-old British rapper named Tinie Tempah … that’s who. TMZ spoke with Tinie’s rep … who told us the London native is a serious shoe collector … and he simply fell in love with the Marty McFly sneakers at the charity auction in L.A. last night. We’re told Tinie — whose new song “Written In the Stars” has become a worldwide hit — is on his way to South Africa at the moment. Hey: at least the money will go to a charity, right? SMH.

Auction Time: How Much Would You Pay for the Limited Edition Back to the Future Nikes?

Fox, the film series star. Patrick Wilson on The Ledge, Reckless Faith, and Visions of Ted Bundy

The last few years have seen Patrick Wilson travel the hero route ( Watchmen ), the villain route ( The A-Team ), the romantic-lead route ( Morning Glory ), the romantic-foil route ( The Switch ), the beset-father route ( Insidious ) and the indie title-character route ( Barry Munday ). The versatile actor takes a road far less traveled in The Ledge , playing a religious zealot from under whose thumb his wife (Liv Tyler) squirms into an affair with the godless heathen next door (Charlie Hunnam). The triangle prompts a stand-off on the titular ledge, where a despondent cop (Terrence Howard) attempts to talk the heathen down. Sound crazy? It is! But in a good way.

Is Shia LaBeouf the New Michael J. Fox?

In 2007, a dapper young star named Shia LaBeouf appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair next to an interesting caption: “Can Hollywood Turn 21-Year-Old Shia LaBeouf Into the Next Tom Hanks?” Provocative. Of course, LaBeouf’s career shifted from that of a Hanks-ian, potential Oscar nominee to the domain of a de rigueur action star. The youngster may not have followed Vanity Fair ‘s wish list since starring in the first Transformers film, but maybe he scored a more interesting feat — becoming our generation’s Michael J. Fox.
