Black ballers are all the rage in the NFL this year A Historic 9 Black Quarterbacks Started For NFL Teams This Week This was a big week for the NFL as it kicked off of the beginning of the 2013 season. It was an even bigger weekend for the game’s premier position as 9 African-American quarterbacks stood under center for some of the best teams in the league. Never before has the NFL had so many signal-callers of color set foot on the field to lead their teams to victory. For years black’s were stigmatized with the notion that we were not smart enough to play the game’s most “intellectual position”, followed by the stigma that all we could do was run fast and not throw like traditional QB’s like Joe Montana or Dan Marino. We can only imagine that Doug Williams, Warren Mood, and Randall Cunningham were all proud to see the progress that has been made on the professional level since their respective hey-days. Flip it on over to see examples of black, professional, ballers that are electrifying the game this year. Images via AP/Zimbio/Shutterstock
Is Mr. Rainbow Coalition really a “race hustler”? Governor Rick Scott Demands Apology From Jesse Jackson Over Comments That Florida Is A Racist State Via HuffingtonPost Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) demanded an apology from the Rev. Jesse Jackson on Wednesday, in response to Jackson’s recent comments likening Florida to the “Selma of our time” and an “apartheid state.” “Jesse Jackson owes every Floridian an apology for his reckless and divisive comments,” Scott said in a statement released Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald. “It is unfortunate that he would come to Florida to insult Floridians and divide our state at a time when we are striving for unity and healing.” Jackson’s comments came during a mock legislative session on Tuesday, meant to address questions in the wake of George Zimmerman’s acquittal of charges stemming from the 2012 killing of Florida teen Trayvon Martin. Flanked by members of the Dream Defenders protest group, Jackson urged Florida lawmakers to repeal the state’s controversial “stand your ground” law in a staged demonstration. “The manipulation of African-Americans [in Florida] is disgraceful … You incentivize killing people,” he declared. “‘Stand your ground’ laws must end.” He went on to assert that a boycott of the “apartheid state” of Florida would be in order if the U.S. Department of Justice failed to file a civil lawsuit against Zimmerman. “Incentivize”??? Really??? Jackson also compared Scott to former Alabama Gov. George Wallace (D), who attempted to obstruct desegregation by physically blocking two black students from entering the University of Alabama’s Foster Auditorium in 1963. “We’ve seen Southern governors before change their minds,” said Jackson, alluding to the apology that Wallace would later issue for his segregationist stances. “Wallace said we couldn’t go to the University of Alabama. He had to change his mind.” Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford (R) took to Twitter to assert that Jackson’s comparison of Scott and Wallace crossed the line. “I am embarrassed for him and his irresponsible statement,” he tweeted. Dream Defenders’ Steve Parjett told the Herald that he applauded Jackson for being “committed to continuing to help us and continuing to provide support.” Does Jesse owe Florida an apology? Is Gov. Scott being a little too sensitive?? Images via AP Continue reading →
Do you forgive Riley (Punk Azz) Cooper ? Black Athletes Forgive Riley Cooper’s Racist Slurs Via USA Today : Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick empathized when wide receiver Riley Cooper apologized to him during a 15-minute conversation Wednesday night, and then to teammates, for using a racial slur after a confrontation with an African-American security guard during a Kenny Chesney concert in June. “What if your son or daughter made a mistake of this factor? How would you want people to perceive it? I’ve been there before,” said Vick, who made the most of his second chance with the Eagles after serving a 21-month sentence for his role in a dog-fighting ring. “Him being my brother, knowing him for so long, it’s hard to defend him saying that. At the same, time, it happened. We talked about it man to man, one on one. We just know that we have to some way move on. It’s a very delicate situation. But we all understand. Somehow we all have to find a way to get past it. That’s maturity in itself.” In a video that has gone viral after being published Wednesday on CrossingBroad.com, Cooper said, “I will jump that fence and fight every (N-word) here, bro.” Uh oh! Hit the flip to peep more from Vick’s bout that life little brother and other Black folks who are not forgiving Riley Cooper’s racist comments… Continue reading →

Careful Mike, you know how “these folks” get… Michael Vick Says He Wants To Own Another Dog For His Children According to TMZ reports : NFL star Michael Vick wants to own a dog again — and five years after his conviction for illegal dog fighting, he can legally get one — but the question is … should he? The Philadelphia Eagles QB was on Piers Morgan’s show last night, and said he would like to get a dog for his kids. After Vick served 19 months in federal prison … he was banned from owning dogs for 3 years. That ban is about to expire, and Vick thinks having a dog could be “therapeutic” … for his children. He told Piers, “I can’t take that dream away from them. That’s selfish on my behalf.” One positive? Vick says he won’t let his kids get a pit bull. Let’s keep it real. There is NO WAY that Michael “relapses” into his past behavior with animals. He has paid his debt to society and should be allowed to live his life, as he sees fit, without persecution. That said, is this really a good idea??? Image via YouTube Listen to the man tell it himself below.
The Eagles star QB isn’t pulling any punches when talking about the mistakes he’s made in the past. Michael Vick Set To Release Autobiography Called “Finally Free” The first excerpts from Michael Vick’s autobiography, “Finally Free,” were released Monday. In an exclusive interview with USA Today, Vick discusses his dogfighting past, time in prison and future with the Philadelphia Eagles. “Back when I was involved in those activities, I may have become more dedicated to the deep study of dogs than I was to my [Atlanta] Falcons playbook,” one excerpt reads. “I became better at reading dogs than reading defenses. That’s just so sad to say right now, because I put more time and effort into trying to master that pursuit than my own profession … which was my livelihood … which put food on the table for my family.” Vick was arrested in 2007 after being hit with felony dogfighting charges for his role in funding and participating in fights held by Bad Newz Kennels. After accepting a plea deal, Vick turned himself in and was eventually sentenced to 23 months in federal prison. “When we pulled up to the courthouse, (fiance) Kijafa [Frink] looked me dead in the eyes. ‘Don’t go,’ she said. ‘Don’t leave.’ Then she started crying. … Then I started crying. The pain they felt — it was all my fault,” Vick writes. Vicks also laments his decision to lie to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell when he had a chance to come clean about dog-fighting. “I knew how to lie with a straight face,” Vick writes. “Sad to say, Commissioner Goodell bought into what I was saying, and I think he truly believed me that I was telling the truth. I deeply regret not telling him the truth from the outset.” But now that newly-married Vick has taken his life back, it’s time to take his career back too… After spending 19 months in prison, Vick was reinstated to the NFL in 2009 and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. Vick became the Eagles’ starting quarterback during the 2010 season and in 25 games has thrown for 6,321 yards and 39 TDs and has rushed for 1,265 yards and 10 TDs. Vick even vowed to bring a Super Bowl to Philadelphia. “My story is not finished. I have more to do. I have something that I want give back to everyone that supported me,” Vick writes. “Here it is: I am committed, focused and determined to win a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles. This is my promise. It is my drive. I will work like a champion to get there. I want to do it for my family, friends, mentors, coaches, teammates, and fans. I want to do it for Philly.” “Finally Free” hits bookshelves on September 4, one day before the 2012 NFL season begins (with the Giants playing the Cowboys) and five days before Vick’s Eagles play the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. We’ve always been huge supporters of Michael and his family, so we suggest you cop that book and look for MV7 and the Philadelphia Eagles to do handle their business this season! Image via AP Source

SMH: Marcus Vick is in trouble with the law again. Vick, who like his brother Michael Vick was a Virginia Tech quarterback, but unlike Michael was unsuccessful in the NFL (going undrafted and playing just one game for the Dolphins), had an arrest warrant issued this morning after he failed to turn himself in at the Newport News City Jail, the Daily Press reports. Last week a judge sentenced Marcus Vick to 10 days in jail for contempt of court because he twice failed to appear to answer to a charge of driving on a suspended license. Vick was supposed to turn himself in by 5 p.m. on Monday to begin serving his jail time, but he didn’t show up. In addition to multiple offenses of driving on a suspended license and multiple offenses of failure to appear in court on those charges, Marcus Vick has had a 2006 conviction for disorderly conduct and a 2009 conviction for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In 2008 he was charged with driving under the influence and eluding police. SMH. Source Photo More On Bossip!
