Elsewhere In The World: 4 Foreigners Arrested In Libya For Trying To Spread Christianity

These folks are lucky they were only arrested for trying to spread Christianity in Libya … isht like that will get a fool murked in them Benghazi streets!!!!! According to NBC News: Four foreigners have been arrested in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi on suspicion of being Christian missionaries and printing books about Christianity, a security official said on Saturday. “They were arrested on Tuesday at a publishing house where they were printing thousands of books that called for conversion to Christianity,” security official Hussein Bin Hmeid said. “Proselytizing is forbidden in Libya. We are a 100 percent Muslim country and this kind of action affects our national security.” Hmeid said the government-affiliated security apparatus called the Preventative Security, for which he is a spokesman, had arrested an Egyptian, a South African, a Korean and a Swede who was travelling on a U.S. passport. “We are still holding interrogations and will hand them over to the Libyan intelligence authorities in a couple of days,” Hmeid said, without giving further details. The Preventative Security apparatus is a parallel security body created during the 2011 war that ousted leader Moammar Gadhafi and made up of several rebel brigades that fought in the conflict. Libya’s central government has yet to impose its authority on a myriad of armed groups that have yet to lay down their arms, and with skeletal national security forces, often relies on them for security. Bet they won’t try that mess again!!! Eff around and get blown up!!!

Elsewhere In The World: Moammar Gadhafi’s Son Has Been Captured By Libyan Militia

Oh you thought you were off the hook ‘cuz yo daddy died?? Moammar Gadhafi’s son Seif al-Islam, once heir apparent to the late Libyan ruler, has been captured in the Libyan desert by fighters who vow to hold him in the mountain town of Zintan until there is a government to hand him over to. Crowds across the country fired guns and hooted car horns Saturday to celebrate the seizure of the British-educated 39-year-old, who a year ago appeared a possible successor to rule the oil-producing desert state. Hundreds of people crowded round the plane carrying him after it landed in Zintan, trapping him inside and raising fears he might suffer a similar fate to his father, who was beaten and shot after his capture a month ago on Sunday. Seif al-Islam was later taken away uninjured and Prime Minister-designate Abdurrahim El-Keib promised that Gadhafi’s son would face a fair trial. “We assure Libyans and the world that Seif al-Islam will receive a fair trial … under fair legal processes which our own people had been deprived of for the last 40 years,” Keib told a press conference in Zintan. Seif al-Islam, who had vowed to die fighting but was taken without a struggle, was arrested overnight, officials said. “At the beginning he was very scared. He thought we would kill him,” Ahmed Ammar, one of his captors, told Reuters. He should have been scared after he saw folks sticking rifles and machine guns up his daddy’s man-cakes Source More On Bossip! Moammar Gadhafi Death Photo, Video Released

This morning’s reports that exiled Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi is dead have now been confirmed. There’s photo and video evidence, and it is graphic. Unlike photo or video evidence of the death of Osama bin Laden , which was never released to the public, Al Jazeera has already aired it this afternoon. News outlets across the world are reporting the story along with a photo of bloody, dying Moammar Gadhafi, moments after he was captured in Libya. Libyan officials have confirmed Gadhafi was shot to death when rebels pulled him out of a storm drain near his home town of Sirte early this morning. We’ve posted the photo and video of Gadhafi’s dead body taken immediately after the 69-year-old despot was killed. Be forewarned, both are graphic: Moammar Gadhafi Dead Body

AP‘s ’Fact Check‘ Hammers Obama’s Speech

WASHINGTON (AP) — There may be less than meets the eye to President Barack Obama’s statements Monday night that NATO is taking over from the U.S. in Libya and that U.S. action is limited to defending people under attack there by Moammar Gadhafi’s forces. In transferring command and control to NATO, the U.S. is turning the reins over to an organization dominated by the U.S., both militarily and politically…. And It Don’t Stop: Rebel Forces Bring The Fight To Gadhafi’s Front Porch

No, the conflict in Libya is not over yet. Yes, Muammar/Moammar Gadhafi/Qaddafi is still in power… and U.S. troops are still out on our dime. But it’s not all bad news. With the support of France, England, the U.S. and the U.N., rebel forces in Libya are actually making some headway in their fight for freedom. Rebel forces battled the government outside Moammar Gadhafi’s hometown and stronghold of Sirte as Western and Arab nations prepared to meet in London Tuesday to seek an exit for Libya’s long time leader. Thanks to international airstrikes begun March 19, Libya’s rebels are in a much stronger position than a week ago, having recaptured all the territory lost earlier to Gadhafi’s forces, including two key oil terminals. But the rebels remain woefully outgunned by Gadhafi’s forces and it is unclear how they can take the stronghold of Sirte without further aggressive international air support. Attacks on Monday were repelled by heavy mortar and rocket fire. Rebels acknowledged they could not have taken so much ground without the air and cruise missile strikes. Libya state television reported new NATO airstrikes after nightfall, targeting “military and civilian targets” in the cities of Garyan and Mizda about 40 miles and 90 miles respectively from Tripoli. NATO insisted that it was seeking only to protect civilians and not to give air cover to an opposition march. But that line looked set to become even more blurred. The airstrikes now are clearly enabling rebels bent on overthrowing Gadhafi to push toward the final line of defense on the road to the capital. Meanwhile, the world’s “super powers” are set to get together in London this week to do what they do best: figure out how to pressure a third world leader into doing what they want him to do. International leaders were gathering in London on Tuesday seeking to plot out an endgame for Moammar Gadhafi’s tottering regime and to strike agreement on plans for Libya’s future. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Arab League and as many as 40 global foreign ministers were joining the talks — seeking to ratchet up pressure on Gadhafi to quit. Italy’s Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said several nations planned to table a joint deal aimed at swiftly ending the conflict, setting out proposals for a cease-fire, exile for Gadhafi and a framework for talks on Libya’s future between tribal leaders and opposition figures. Oh. So we might see an end to this by summer? SMH. Source 1 Source 2

US/UN Military Action In Libya Could Start As Early As Sunday

Now that Moammar Gadhafi has closed off the airspace around Libya and threatened to hit the people with a “final assault,” the U.N. has voted to take “all necessary means” to protect the people of Libya. The U.N. Security Council resolution was approved late Thursday with the backing of the United States, France and Britain, hours after Gadhafi vowed to launch a final assault and crush the nearly 5-week-old rebellion against him. President Barack Obama telephoned the leaders of Britain and France after the vote, the White House said. U.S. officials speaking after a closed-door briefing in Congress said the attempt to ground Gadhafi’s air force could begin by Sunday or Monday with the use of jet fighters, bombers and surveillance aircraft. The British Cabinet held an emergency meeting as British planes were expected to take part in the international military action. NATO envoys in Brussels also were considering next steps. Military experts cautioned that the consequences of such action are unpredictable. The former head of the British army, Richard Dannatt, said it was crucial to proceed cautiously “so we don’t get into the kind of situation that we got into in Iraq by not having a Plan B for the morning after.” But the Western powers faced pressure to act urgently after weeks spent deliberation over what to do about Gadhafi as his regime gained momentum. Gadhafi, calling in to Libyan television on Thursday, said his forces would “rescue” the people of Benghazi, the eastern Mediterranean port city that has become the de-facto rebel capital and staging ground. For those who resist, Gadhafi said, there would be “no mercy or compassion.” “This is your happy day, we will destroy your enemies,” he said, warning the people of Benghazi not to stand alongside the opposition. “Prepare for this moment to get rid of the traitors. Tomorrow we will show the world, to see if the city is one of traitors or heroes.” Gadhafi also pledged to respond harshly to U.N.-sponsored attacks in an interview with Portuguese television broadcast just before the vote. “If the world is crazy,” he said, “we will be crazy, too.” That should end any doubt you might have as to whether or not this dude is a nutjob. Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Kaim struck a more conciliatory tone, offering to negotiate a cease-fire with the rebels. He welcomed the Security Council’s concern for the people of Libya but called on the world not to allow them to receive weapons. “If any countries do that, they will be inviting Libyans to kill each other,” he said. The civil unrest in Libya started a little over a month ago. And the death toll is somewhere between 150 or over 1,000 people, depending on whether you ask Gadhafi or the rebels. Source

From Freedom To That Black Gold: Ghadafi Loyalists And Rebels Go At It Over Oil In Libya

As if things weren’t bad enough in Libya… Greed has now reared it’s ugly head. Libyan government forces launched a counterattack against a key oil facility and air base in rebel-controlled eastern Libya on Wednesday morning as Moammar Kadafi vowed to “fight until the last man and woman.” The attack on Port Brega, about 100 miles south of the rebel stronghold of Benghazi, was the first offensive by Kadafi loyalists in eastern Libya since the region fell to rebel fighters 10 days ago. It triggered an escalation in the conflict as hundreds of untrained young men and poorly equipped soldiers stormed out of Benghazi to help rebels try to repulse the government advance. State-run TV claimed that the government seized the huge Sirte Oil Co. complex in Port Brega, as well as a nearby air base. Rebel commanders in Benghazi said their fighters drove Kadafi’s men back and took the area. But Ahmed Jerksi, Sirte Oil manager, told the Associated Press that Kadafi forces had retaken control of the facility. With the area engulfed in fighting, reporters who drove down the coastal highway were unable to sort out the conflicting claims. A government warplane attacked a major weapons depot outside Ajdabiya, an opposition-controlled city 50 miles north of Port Brega. The attack appeared to miss the depot — at least the fourth time in the last 10 days that airstrikes there have failed. Kadafi, in a combative speech to loyalists and the foreign media in Tripoli, said he had ordered the airstrike to prevent opposition “terrorists” from using the weapons. Rebels reported a second airstrike against opposition fighters battling government forces near a university along the coast in Port Brega. Two U.S. warships entered the Suez Canal bound for the Mediterranean, and Western governments were discussing a possible no-fly zone over Libya in support of the opposition. Oh, oil is legitimately at stake now?? It’s about to be Desert Storm 2 up in this b*tch! And Gadhafi’s ready. Kadafi warned of civil war, saying, “This will lead to a bloody war and thousands of Libyans will die if America and NATO enter Libya.” Source /Photo: Luis Sinco
