View post:

A few weeks ago a Lil Durk that was on the lam from authorities dropped an unexpected track dubbed “Turn Myself In” and then following that release – plot twist – actually turned himself into authorities. Today the just released on bail rapper dropped a visual for the prophetic cut that’s comprised of some outtakes of his concert performances, facetiming his seed and ultimately making his way down to the precinct. Stefflon Don and Lil Baby meanwhile find themselves ditching the police themselves as well as they make off with a car trunk filled with cash and turning up in a motel in the clip to “Phone Down.” Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from Fatboy SSE, Nimic, and more. Another Black Designer Finds A Carbon Copy Of Her Work For Sale Online

Source: Mireya Acierto / Mireya Acierto / Stringer When white designers replicate one another, intentionally or otherwise, they are called derivative, and uninspired. When they copy Black designers , they are rewarded for their efforts with the cloak of invisibility that shrouds Black women. This week Instagram learned of yet another Black fashion designer being forced to watch their creativity line the pockets of others. Fe Noel , who has been using her Caribbean heritage to create, elegant staples and lush statement pieces for years, posted side by side images of pants she designed for a previous collection with those presented by designer Ulla Johnson. Beneath the image she anticipated the fury of her followers writing, “I’ll let you be the judge.” Social media did not disappoint quickly pointing out that the similarities between the items appeared to be more than coincidental. That didn’t stop Net-A-Porter from charging $395 for them. This happens all the time and when everyone is forwarding the offending image or video to their timelines, they are rarely discussing how it occurs over and over. Source: Mireya Acierto / Mireya Acierto / Stringer These incidents take place because while mainstream retailers love to scope out the trends set by Black artists and consumers they don’t pay as close attention to the people behind them. The question of whether or not Ulla Johnson had seen Noel’s design prior to creating her pant is just one part of the equation. Whether or not any one at Net-A-Porter has ever bothered to look any the beautiful lookbooks presented by Noel season after season is another. In order for Black designers, Black editors, Black writers, Black stylists, and Black writers to flourish people have to quit stalling their research at their immediate circles. This is not someone who is obscure or unknown. She is a design powerhouse who is gaining hard won steam every season and she deserves to be seen and respected. Source: laven Vlasic/Getty Images / (Photo by Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images) It’s not hard to imagine that the buyer would have noticed if Johnson presented an option that was reminiscent of one of the many identical blonde Brooklynites lining the walls of Bloomingdales. They should be just as familiar with Black designers who are making strides. Noel has been featured in Vogue multiple times. She was one of three designers who teamed up with Lebron James and Harlem’s Fashion Row for a historic Nike collaboration. Her aesthetics is consistent and easily recognizable to anyone interested in paying attention. The work of the Fe Noels of the world should be celebrated beyond the black community because they’re stylish, they’re important, and more often than not they were probably here first. Editors Note: HelloBeautiful reached out to both Fe Noel and representatives for Ulla Johnson regarding the similarities in the designs. Neither party responded to requests for comment at the time of publication. DON’T MISS: Will Rihanna’s Deal With LVMH Be The Key To More Black Women In Fashion? Lisa Vanderpump to Skip Jax Taylor & Brittany Cartwright’s Wedding

Earlier today, we reported on the sad news that Lisa Vanderpump’s mother has passed away at the age of 84. The death of Jean Vanderpump comes just one year after Lisa’s brother, Mark Vanderpump, committed suicide . The news also closely follows closely on the heels of reports that Lisa has quit The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in response to a falling out with her fellow cast members. With all of this going on, it’s not surprising that Lisa will be stepping away from the spotlight in order to return to England and be with her family. Unfortunately, that means she’ll miss a major social event that’s sure to factor prominently in both the lives of her close friends and the eighth season of her eponymous reality show. Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are set to get married next weekend, and Radar Online is now reporting that Lisa will not be in attendance. “Lisa will not be able to go to the wedding,” says one insider . While Jax and Brittany are said to be disappointed by the news, they have reportedly expressed their support for her decision. The source claims that Taylor and Cartwright have not yet spoken to Lisa in person, but have contacted her via text message. “They have reached out to send their condolences, and accept she needs to step away from filming the show right now so she can attend to her family,” says the insider. Lisa was also scheduled to be a guest of honor at World Pride events in New York on June 30. Sadly, she will be forced to miss those events, as well. “Lisa loves and supports the LGBTQ community, but knows that they will understand,” says the tipster. The insider goes on to say that Lisa is at the lowest point of her life after losing two immediate family members in such rapid succession. “She’s absolutely devastated at losing her mother when she is still grieving over the loss of her brother,” says the source. Stars and colleagues alike have offered their condolences to the reality star and restaurateur, but we’re sure words are of little comfort at this time. All the same, our thoughts are with Lisa during this tremendously difficult time. We hope she takes all the help she needs and finds support wherever she can. Kyle Richards: I SO Want Chrissy Teigen To Replace Lisa Vanderpump on RHOBH!!

With Lisa Vanderpump stepping down from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills , major conversations are taking place as to who will replace the star.  Many women have been thrown into the discussion, including Kyle Richards’ sisters Kim and Kathy Hilton.  But Kyle thinks there’s someone much better fitted to fill the role on Bravo’s most successful franchise:  Chrissy Teigen!  Even though Kyle knows it’s “too preliminary” to replace Lisa, who quit the show earlier this month , she’s allowed to dream, right?  Yes. And we’re so here for it. 100%. “We’ve fantasized and talked about things,” Richards told Us Weekly while celebrating Paris Hilton’s partnership with The Glam app on Wednesday, June 19. “People always ask. I would say, Chrissy Teigen.” “But I know she won’t do it so I gotta think of somebody else now, because I know she’s never going to do it,” she said. And even though it does seem unlikely for John Legend’s wife to join the cast, nothing is impossible!  Besides, Chrissy lives a lavish lifestyle, resides in the neighborhood of Beverly Hills, and already has some experience in the world of reality TV.  So we will fancy the idea right along with Kyle, because yes, it is a good one.  Richards also took a moment to discuss current filming without her ex-bestie Vanderpump. “We have 21 episodes without her so, I mean it’s different,” she shared. “But you know, the show is doing well.” “So, you know it’s exciting,” she revealed to Us , “and there’s a lot going on with all the women.” “I miss her as a cast member and a friend, but the show is doing well.”  Though Richards and Vanderpump recently had a major falling out, Kyle is hopeful for the future of their friendship. She admits that she “would like to think” that they will reunite one day and continue their friendship.  “I’m sure one day it will be OK,” she states. But Lisa is shaking her head no. After Kyle accused her longtime friend of selling a story about Dorit Kemsley’s dog to the press, Lisa was screaming cheerio (we imagine) to her fellow castmate.  Following the drama, the  Vanderpump Rules star confirmed to Us that she was leaving the Bravo show after nine seasons.  “I made the decision to leave. It was a very difficult year for me, personally and professionally,” she said. “The housewives, it’s just, it’s emotionally too difficult to deal with.” Lisa even skipped the reunion taping this month because of all the chaos with the girls this season, also meaning she missed out on a large chunk of cash.  “Lisa only gets half of her pay for the season if she doesn’t go to the reunion, but she still chose not to go,” one insider told Us Weekly . “The women get half of their pay before shooting starts and the other half after the reunion.” “So Lisa lost money,” shared the source. But we don’t think the British restauranteur was too terribly affected by her lack of earnings that day.  In fact, it sounds like she is doing much better without all the negativity and drama that is the Housewives.  And as for Chrissy, well we think she would fit right in — offering her hilarious and mocking quips, of course. Home Alone Bishes: 11-Year-Old Boy Uses MACHETE To Thwart Home Intruder

Source: Miha Palvin / Getty 11-Year-Old Uses Machete To Stop Home Intruder From Robbing Mobile Home One 11-year-old kid was ready to defend his house harder than a Mcallister, only his Home Alone experience involved machetes. According The News & Observer , Braydon Smith was home by himself on Friday morning while his father Chistopher Smith was at work. The sixth grader was rarely left alone, but his dad said he mixed up camp start dates and trusted his son enough to stay home for one day and play video games. Ironically, while playing Grand Theft Auto on his PlayStation, Braydon said he heard someone outside his 900-square-foot mobile home in North Carolina. He ran to his bedroom window to find two men and a woman outside knocking. Brayden then called his mom and told her to call the police. After this, he went to hide behind his bedroom door as he heard a window “get slammed in” on the other side of his home. Police believe the intruder to be 19-year-old Jataveon Dashawn Hall. Authorities say he walked through the house with one of the Smith family’s unloaded pellet rifles, then he came into contact with Braydon and threatened him. “He pointed a pellet gun at me that was located in our house. I knew that it wasn’t loaded so I just sat down and got in my closet like he told me to,” Braydon told ABC 11 . “He went into the living room to grab my phone to make sure I didn’t call the 911 or anything. When I saw him try to put it in his pocket, I grabbed my machete off of my wall and went to hit him.” Why was there a machete in the house in the first place, you may ask? Brayden supposedly bought it to cut down trees and branches while camping. When he approached Hall with the weapon, Braydon slashed him in the back of the neck and made him bleed, which eventually caused the intruder to flee, according to the boy. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office say after Hall fled the scene he sought medical attention and has since been taken into custody. His bail was set at $175,000, according to inmate records . He’s currently at the Orange County Detention Center and is charged with breaking an entering, interfering with emergency communication, second-degree kidnapping, and assault on a child under 12. When explaining his thinking during the attack, Brayden explained: “It went by really fast. I knew I didn’t have the time to think about what I was going to do. I just grabbed a weapon in the house and acted with it.” “I knew I had to act in the heat of the moment.” 11-year-old boy who hit an alleged robber with a machete says he knew he didn't have time be afraid. https://t.co/uXfVkhKgZT pic.twitter.com/31eSoHGMxS — ABC News (@ABC) June 17, 2019   Authorities are currently searching for the other parties who allegedly accompanied Hall during the attempted burglary.

She told the newspaper that her mother Maggie Johnson picked out her name and declared it would take her daughter around the world. Meanwhile, her two sisters are named Kimberly and Robin. While the mother-of-four and grandmother-of-one admits that growing up she was constantly teased by peers and adults, she says that pain helped shape who she is today. “I’ve grown into my name because I am a strong woman. The name of her dissertation was called, “Black names in white classrooms: Teacher behaviors and student perceptions.” She told the Journal Sentinel that she spent part of her research interviewing Black students at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater about the effect their distinctly Black names had on their treatment by teachers and on their academic achievement. Let her tell it: The young people were eager to share their experiences with her. And she always lets those students know that while her teachers never pushed college on her because they assumed she wouldn’t amount to much, she persevered, and they can too. “Regardless of what they do, say or what they’re trying to put in place, you still have to move forward and succeed,” Dr. Pepsi stresses. Adding, “That’s my big thing. Don’t use that as an excuse. Use that as a steppingstone to keep on going. Leave those people behind and then you reach back. Each one reach one.
